  1. Okay, so whilst we wait, what's the ideal outcome of this whole situation? I'll kick things off... 1) Appointment of a strong independent Chair 2) Appointment of at least 4 new non-executives with plc experience, including Frank Blin 3) Removal of Stockbridge from an official Board position. 4) Full review of the senior management team to be conducted, preferably by Blin. Then leading to potentially replacing Mather and Stockbridge with high calibre individuals of proven experience I could be persuaded of arguments for or against any of the above, but what else would you want? Or what would you want different?
  2. Cribari has certainly looked more solid this season but I agree, he's one we could easily cope without. Can someone text Jim White and ask him to start some rumours that there are clubs interested in buying him? That might spark some other club to actually make a bit and we can get rid of him. We can certainly dream, at least.
  3. I'm about 75% through the book. Its been really good so far.
  4. Let us know how you get on...
  5. The more I see and read from and about Mather only serves to reinfoce my view that he is not capable of the job. A diligent manager and likeable chap he may be, but someone capable of being the figurehead of our club? Not for me.
  6. Another olive branch by McColl? Lets see what Mather says next. Last couple of times he's issued a lengthy statement rubbishing his alleged or actual detractors.
  7. Writing was on the wall for him so am glad we've got rid. Wonder how much he's taken as a pay-off though?
  8. Don't disagree with any of your reply calscot. I should have been clearer in saying I was playing devil's advocate in some of the points made. It's a Pavlovian response that seems to happen when discussing the squad, it's size and our wage bill. I've consistently argued that we are playing a half and half strategy. We can't afford just to get by with players on no more that's £500-£1000 pw because this increases the risk that we don't win promotion considerably, and to a level that no one would find acceptable. At the same time as securing players that will ensure we gain promotion easily, we also need to invest in developing a squad that will allow is to at least compete on terms with premiership teams when we return. If we don't, and merely scrape through the divisions, it will be a very large gap in quality to bridge, and one that will take perhaps a couple of years to fix. If we did go down that route, i can picture the transfer negotiations for every player we try and sign. The selling club, knowing we have a wad of cash will drive up the price and the self-same moaners about overpaying players in the lower leagues will bemoan the inflated costs of rebuilding the team. It's a classic no-win scenario.
  9. Its a balancing act between long term and short term priorities. Unfortunately Ally's utterances about never doing any long term planning played to the worst fears of our support. I felt that we should assess the squad at the end of the transfer window rather than continually saying we should not sign new players. However, we cannot ignore that we do have a bloated squad containing players that are unlikely to survive beyond our foray in the lower divisions. And for that reason I think its understandable that a number of fans have questioned why we need even more players. I accept that Ally is trying to move players on, and I've no doubt that we have tasked some agents with this very remit. However, I can't also cant help but feel that most players won't move unless their contracts are paid out.
  10. Seems pretty clear he's been told to trim the squad if he wants to add some fresh blood. No doubt some pay-offs in the offing. *sigh*
  11. I'd contribute, yes. But like has been suggested, I hope McColl escalates matters quickly.
  12. Pulling no punches. Good work! Its really a bizarre decision. I felt that Mather would need to get behind the next regime if he was to stand a chance of surviving. Given that he spoke positively about Jim McColl on BT Sport pre-match on Friday, I thought we were beginning to see a path being forged from Charles Green's wreckage. But with the MH being appointed, presumably by the Easedales, it shows that Mather is powerless to stop all this nonsense. The sooner we have a general meeting the better. I'd now like to see McColl escalate things and renege on this verbal agreement to roll the EGM into the AGM. We cannot afford for this shower to have control for any longer than is absolutely necessary.
  13. No bother chaps. Enjoy the game.
  14. It would be insane for the club to ignore smartphones as a channel for marketing the club's products and services. That and the potential advertising revenues that could potentially be generated. I'd fancy (hope?) there's a sound business case behind the decision that allows us to recoup the investment over a period of time, and for it to become a source of profit.
  15. I've sent him a message on twitter...
  16. The negotiating points on both sides are not likely to be straightforward. - Removal of Mather from the Board would be effectively sacking him as CEO as his position would be untenable. He has been publicly backed by the likes of Ally and Walter, so may well survive if he is seen as credible to investors. Sacking him would likely cost money we can ill afford to lose, and this may contribute to him remaining. - Removal of Smart as non-exec. We know little about his performance although I've read it suggested that his attendance at Board meetings is poor (at least, attendance in person). Perhaps he doesn't have the time to devote to the role, so he may be looking for an exit himself, but has perhaps not felt that he could given all of the turmoil of recent months. Removing all traces of the previous Board may be seen as desirable to some, but some form continuity would be preferable, even if Smart doesn't stay long term. - Removal of Stockbridge. His public profile has nosedived pretty much since it was revealed he took the video of Malcolm Murray, but particularly during the Q&A the other week. However, similar to Mather, getting rid of him will cost us money, and if he is prepared to get behind whatever new regime is established, he may survive by the skin of his teeth. - Although the Board have indicated they would be happy to accept Blin's appointment, we are actively looking to appoint a new Chairman. Its been suggested that Blin would be ideal, and I'd agree, but we have no idea whether this is something he'd be prepared to take on. - The alternative is that we look for someone else to take on the role of Chairman, but this isn't necessarily an easy task. We clearly need someone with a thick skin who is not only prepared for the flak that comes in the role, but someone who has gravitas and is able to manage the various personalities involved along with investors. Given the timescales involved, finding someone who ticks all the boxes for the role is tough.
  17. Bottom line is that its Rangers first. And if PM can demonstrate that he has the time, funding and commitment to play a positive role on the Board, then I'm not against it happening. My impression of PM is that he is a fan and wants to help. He may not be perfect, but I think its unlikely that he would not acknowledge some of his past mistakes; with TBK in particular. But you cannot say he didn't warn us about Whyte, and you cannot deny that he played a role in stewarding the club whilst it paid down a large chunk of its debt during the period of his non-exec appointment. [NB - I know full well that Lloyds were holding a gun to our heads, but thats not the point I'm making] He's been prepared to stick his head above the parapet, to put his hand up and try and do something to protect/save the club, and all he gets in return is ridicule and accusations. All too often amongst our support we see people who are prepared to put their hand up get accused of having agendas, of using the status to line their pockets, and all manner of other unhelpful distractions. For the time being I'm content to see how this EGM business pans out. And I would urge the McColl group to continue doing their business behind closed doors if they want to maximise their chances of success.
  18. Seems like he has had plenty of chances to sort out his attitude and commitment. He wont get much sympathy.
  19. I'm encouraged to hear his moderate views but a watching brief is required.
  20. This is encouraging. I really don't want McColl or his group to speak out whatsoever until matters are concluded, one way or the other. By not speaking to any press outlets, it allows the likes of Green/Ahmad/Jack Irvine to be shown up for what they are. Engage in their tactics and you'll be tarred with the same brush.
  21. I should add also, that we wont be ready until both sides are ready to compromise or put their differences to the side.
  22. Agreed. What's missing is trust between the club and the SFA, and trust between the club and the media (particularly some sections). We are undoubtedly weary after constant battling over the past two years, and I don't think we are ready to let bygones be bygones. And we wont be until the governance of the club is settled, and we all get back to enjoying the fitba. The way this thing is going, its definately going to be years, rather than months.
  23. This really is the height of stupidity. If he's guilty, and if its a sackable offence... the writing is on the wall for him.
  24. Oh FFS. Just when he was starting to string together some decent performances...
  25. Well that is certainly an encouraging statement from Laxey. In this case it seems that the motives of supporterx and institutional investors are aligned.
