Not a betting man but i will just live in smugness when proven right. Personally i hope he doesn't go as i have said often, but he would only be super-sub for me. If he is willing to come off the bank, week in and week out then he would still be a valuable asset.

OK it may be the 3rd of August.

Gone to fix the wheel on my rollator.

That hits the nail on the head Boyd only compliments himself. Sorry Johnny you are 15 years behind on that one. Look at the work rate of all the top teams strikers in closing down players. ie: Rooney, Van Nistelrooy, Ronaldo etc. Man u and Barcelona would bite their arms off for a 25 goal striker. So why are they not after Boyd?
-
Well that was my best shot gone then my memory doesn't go past 1 hour.
-
Maybe the Cardiff or B\ham supporters will.

Kontermans goal against the tims was a cracker. I can't remember if it was an SPL game though.

I honestly don't see Boyd being at Ibrox next year as i think all the" Boyd will be my main man next year" talk, is just to bump up his price. I could be wrong but i doubt it. I would of course bring him on after we are 2 up against St Mirren and such so as he can score his 25 goals. I also think these secret training sessions that are going to turn him into a super striker are a load of crap. Yes you can improve someone but the basics have to be there in the first place and Boyd will never become a ball holding striker.

If i walk into a sport shop here in Holland there are almost always Celtic tops hanging but i have never seen a Rangers top in a shop. If JJB are willing to pay to not sell tops it is there worry i suppose. Money counts these days and an UEFA final does more for our profile than a few tops in the shops. Although our negative football in the final took away any support from foreign countries and did our profile no good at all.

I think we need a good CH. Another year of Davie Weir means defending on our own 16mtr box. I would rather we pushed further up the field. We do have Webster,Broadfoot and Papac but if they are the answer to our problems throws up a big Question mark for me. As in Broadfoot if the RB position had not opened up for him then i think he would be sitting beside Gow at this time. Rob Jones of Hibs? Not sure of his speed over the ground but certainly good defensively and powerful in the air. Two midfielders, one play-maker and one attacking. I don't think it will happen but i would love Papac to move to CH and play as good as he did as at LB. Smith to return at LB and hit his old form. Whitteker to move to right back and become a great attacking back even better than Hutten. I would drop our interest in Davis and go for Fletcher(Man u), or really go wild and bring in both. Yes that it BOTH. Beasley to play on the left and have an injury free season. As i have lost myself i will put it on paper. ---------------McGregor----------------- Whitteker-------Carlos------Jones\Papac\Webster------Smith -------------Thomson---------Fletcher-------- Novo--------------------------------------------------Beasley --------------Velicka---------------Miller----- ---------------McGregor----------------- Whitteker-------Carlos------Jones\Papac\Webster------Smith -------------Davis---------Fletcher--------Thomson Novo\Beasley--------------Velicka---------------Miller----- Of course Fletcher's name will be Fergie's but i would have no problem with a midfield of Fletcher---Fergie---Thomson.

Just for info Jon, Huntelaar gets the exact same stick at Ajax and that is why he is behind RVN in the Dutch team. RVN can link play better but Huntelaar is a more prolific scorer.

I never answered about the other players because the debate was about Boyd. Does JCD and Cousin having weaknesses make Boyd a better player? Nacho Novo scored a lot and has a much better team value than Boyd does. My remark about 40 assists was of course exaggerated but if say Scott McDonald only scores 21 goals but has 10 assists to JVH then you then have 31 goals. That is the side of the game that Boyd is lacking.
-
That is the whole thing though Jon you can't see past the goals. Lets put all our 11 players on the opposition goal line and they can all score 25 goals. I don't think we will ever agree on this one. I just hope we can get a striker who may score a few less goals than Boyd but can link up the play better. Wayne Rooney doesn't score 25 goals so i guess that makes Boyd better than him.
-
As Gary Lineker said the EC is a tournament where 32 teams start and in the end the Germans win. Come on Gus Hiddink!!!!!!
-
There lies the problem Jon on why we will never agree on this subject. You only see 25 goals for Boyd. You do not see the other part to his game. Maybe he could have gave 40 assists if he could control a ball.
-
Jon the only one to call him Pish and Shite was you. Most of us gave him constructive criticism explaining our thoughts.:admin:
-
I agree fully Cammy but unfortunately some people are blinded by 25 goals they don't realise a forward who loses the ball is just as dangerous as a duff defender
-
I hate to say this but i would rather have McDonald by a country mile. Again ponsing over a few hundred thousand gave him to the tims. OK I am off to wash my mouth out with soap.
-
I think the difference is Cal that the supporters have had no chance to evaluate Gow whereas with Adam they have had that chance and look at him in a negative light.
-
I own up. seems 26th of foot has a lot of lines on his face.

Such a move is easier for him than for his wife. He has social contact at his work while she is left at home in a land where she does not know the language, probably staring at four walls. Many do speak English here but even at that you can't eavesdrop and gossip and in the street you feel alienated.
-
Agreed and i suppose Manchester have had players in the past who could only defend, Pallister and Bruce come to mind but i don't see him fitting in at Arsenal under Wenger.

I didn't realise Gow was so old i thought he was still a pup.
