I'm with Gribz on this one. A striker as Boyd was great 10-20 years ago when it took 10 minutes to get the ball from one end of the park to the other. These days the game is so fast that a striker who can't hold a ball up can be as much a liability as a bad defender. If the midfield know a striker is ball fast they will be willing to make forward runs. If i gave Boyd the ball there would always be a doubt in my mind that he will lose it and i would be caught out of position. What is the point of scoring 25 goals a season if you are putting your defence and midfield under pressure by not holding on to the ball. I voted that i wanted Boyd to stay but he would only be coming off the bench if i was manager. Maybe the next poll should be Boyd in starting line up, Boyd off the bench or Boyd out the door. If he wants to stay coming off the bench then that would be great for me. he does earn his money scoring important goals.

Lafferty Update TERMS have been agreed both between Burnley and Rangers and between Rangers and Kyle Lafferty in relation to the player's potential move to Ibrox. Discussions between Alan Gow and Burnley are ongoing. From the official site.
-
Agree fully. I hope it is because we sell Fergie, that would be a real bonus.
-
Yes the most reports are that the Lafferty deal is done but Gow and Burnley are having difficulties finding common ground.
-
That is why he is a centre half.
-
SkySports described the deal as being 'frozen' and made the deal sound in danger, but Chairman Barry Kilby has since confirmed on BBC Radio Lancashire, that he has held 'very positive' talks with Gow and expects a deal to be tied up later this evening or early Wednesday morning. Setanta Sports broke the news at 7:00pm that Kyle Lafferty had signed for Rangers and that the deal was done, but as of yet there has been no official announcement from Burnley F.C. or Rangers.

Holland are resting many of their players so Romania have a good chance of going through on their own steam.
-
Is Thuram not a central defender?
-
Totally agree we need an attack minded midfielder. RB is not a worry if you take Whittaker, Broadfoot and Lowing. Then again if we are going to punt the ball why do we need a midfield anyway. Hah I've sussed it.

One new striker and Kenny Miller.
-
Never noticed it.

Anyone who lives in Holland won't support the Turks except a Turk. The ones who live in Holland are the vermin of the world and totally different from the Turkish Turks. The Turks here have been caught in a time warp and have prehistoric values.

And we'll really shake them up, when we win the world cup.

You certainly don't offend me but watch your heart rate. I personally don't think people should just lie down and play dead just to suit Walter Smith. Everyone has a right to an opinion.
-
I don't think Walter is holding the cheque book. He is told what he can spend.
-
Agree totally Wija but it is a football forum and therefore it is not really fair to mix the one with the other.
-
What was wrong with: We're on the way with Ally's army. I still sing that today. That was brilliant.
-
Agreed, his forward going football is not good enough for the Spanish team. Still potentially one of Rangers best defenders ever. He will have to do it over more seasons though to get himself into the hall of fame.
-
I am old enough, just not stupid enough to buy it.
-
I agree with you on this. We have now seen 10 years of Kenny Miller. Has he had a brain transplant in the last few weeks that is going to change him drastically? People say he will be great for Boyd. I can never remember Kenny Miller ever scoring high on the assist list. In fact he is as blind as a bat as to where other players are positioned. I still can't get my head round this signing.

Yes Craig a footballers career is short but who gave them the gods given right to be able to retire at 30+. If my boss sacks me tomorrow then i have to go out and find another job. We all choose a career line but if that line falls short then we have to be flexible to change coarse. Sorry i don't buy that, that a football player has the gods given right to stop work at 30+. The greed of football players will ruin the game at some point. Ronaldo 230.000 a week is beyond belief.

I don't think you can blame McCoist for this one. He can try and advise Walter, but in the end Smith is responsible for the final decision. My heart can never stop supporting Rangers but my respect for Smith, which was not so very high has now somersaulted to virtually 0.0001% A league title is now a must for him to prove me wrong. I never wanted him back and i have seen little improvement in the team to be honest. We just defend more. PLG could have played like that as well and steadied the ship.

Sorry Johnny i was being sarcastic. As far as i can see the Rangers scouting system is non-existent. As far as i know there is a computer programme linked to a website where every prof football player in the world is registered. The length of their contract and availability and other such info are all there. I take it Rangers also have this option. Having the option and being able to dig out the info you want or being bothered to dig out the info are two different things. As i said before Walter won't leave his comfort zone anyway.

Do we really want teams like Kilmarnock or St Mirren in Europe? I don't think i do.

They spotted Kenny Miller didn't they.
