I take it it's about the size of the warchest which Leggo inflated from 10m to 25m which is now the number used in the Scotsman propaganda piece.

Should have been introduced years ago as there are many compelling arguments for it. However, more difficult to administer at Sunday league level when you only have one official, especially in the case of more than one concurrent yellow card.

Not very comparable. Proving beyond doubt your true life experiences isn't always easy as not everything leaves behind an audit trail from years ago. I find the use of "your forum" a bit strange - are you not now one of us, one of us? (Gooble gobble, Gooble gobble!)

Similar has been said, but I know I'd be happy for an independent party to look at my wage and vouch that it is a reasonable remuneration for the job and not something outrageous. If his contract is anywhere in the ball park what is proposed then he shouldn't be denying it - and by doing so he is agreeing that that amount is not reasonable.
-
Easy just to deny - it could mean he is getting more or he's getting £39999.99 (or something else).

I find the reports on the Ajax guys hard to believe - apparently they stole a "Scottish flag". Hmm...

But you'll be denying yourself one of life's greatest pleasures...

Love Mr C's reply...

Could be personal taste but price doesn't always reflect which ever characteristics you choose, and which wine is better is very subjective. There's structure, mouth-feel, complexity, intensity and length of finish as well as other qualities to consider. Or in the end it might just be a better wine - but you also pay for reputation and prestige, that doesn't get much better than a premier grand cru classé of which there are only five which have been recognised as producing the top wines since 1855 - apart from the ironically unclassified Chateau Petrus. Top French wine will always be more expensive than the equivalent elsewhere; it's a case of location, location, location (as well as supply and demand). There are quite a few parallels in football. Anyway, I envy you being able to taste such famous and fantastic wines - far too expensive for my wallet.

It's as clear as mud to me...

I doubt the gulf is much more than DA's team to the rest of the SPL (bar Celtic) in his third season, and far less transfer fee wise... No matter how much the perceived gulf, Division one players are still in the top 1000 players in the country, they know how to play, they are very organised and how much better can the top 100 say, be? The cost of things always goes up exponentially when going for the higher percentiles of quality, the laws of diminishing returns always runs true. You can pick up a Chateau Haut Brion 2010 en premieur for £650 a bottle and still have to professionally store it for 10 years before drinking it. It gets 100/100 on Wine Spectator. Or you can pay £12-£20 for a more ordinary Bordeaux which gets 90/100 and you can drink it straight away. You might even prefer it - and you never know if the more expensive one has been corked or otherwise tainted. There are plenty of lob-sided leagues in the world but only one team has ever won every game and that was a long time ago in an 18 game season.

We have so many of the same type of mitigation when our fans are involved in trouble, but we don't have anything like the same press coverage. They are even still feeling sorry for Franco's fascist police force which in a decent society would be an oxymoron.
-
PS Celtic will obviously counter it with "top league" arguments, which to be fair, we would to if the circumstances were reversed.
-
Good post but from the title of that list it looks like we have 12 games to go... It's winning streaks in the league only.
-
I didn't read it as bitching, more like assessment and feedback on the effectiveness. Hopefully they'll take the criticism on board rather than dismissing it as bitchiness. It sounds like the protests need to be a bit more cohesive and clear to have a bigger impact.

Malcolm Murray: Rangers won't survive unless I'm voted back
calscot replied to j1mgg's topic in Rangers Chat
Don't think that's fair to the guy. I have no idea whether I want him on the board due to what happened when he was part of it, but he was obviously forced off and was continually outvoted when he wanted financial prudence.- 36 replies

Board nominees urge current directors to sign their Rangers constitution
calscot replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
I think it's naive to think they'll sign it or just a way to score points. If the board are going to sign a constitution, it will be worded by themselves, but doing their own suggests they were remiss in not doing it before. The only way they can save losing face is by not signing or creating one. If the requisitioners' one can be pulled apart on here then expect the board to rip into it. -
Hibs did seem to produce a string of top Scottish talent at that time. However, while they seemed a good cup team, they were inconsistent in the league. They were certainly no match for the big two.

You don't believe in the hot and cold balls then?

I think the disappointing thing for us is that we're already playing those teams four times this season... I hope its Ayr as I'd rather they got the money.

That would be virtually impossible to deny... We really don't know any facts one way or the other. I would like to think they are not lying. However, there's a lot of visible stuff on twitter where journalists have complained when it would take a real stretch to take many of them even a wee bit seriously.

I'm not sure which other clubs we're comparing Rangers to when analysing youth development. To be really fair, it would have to be in Scotland, and the quality of players produced that are counted should be of Rangers standard or above. There are 42 clubs in the country developing players, so where in the league table do we stand? To be failures we'd have to be well down the league. But you just have to look at the Scotland team to see that we've more influence on the current squad than most. Some ex-Rangers players were bought rather than developed from youth but some wouldn't still be internationals if our senior management were incapable. We have the advantage over other clubs in our resources, facilities, our attractiveness and catchment area size but have disadvantage of having to win every game with a sizeable budget, rather than struggling to get by and playing youths to save money. We will also be unattractive to many players who are more realistic and realise they have a better chance of breaking into the side if they join a smaller club - Ally himself was one of those. We may not have produce a Barry Ferguson for a while, but the question remains, who has? I don't see Scotland as having much raw talent these days. Our kids are now fatter (32.5% of boys are overweight), more sedate and have less opportunity, inclination and indeed permission to play football. (When my nephew was at school they were not allowed to play football in the playground in case they were hurt and the parents sued.) Due to our fairly unique position, the one closest comparison to gauge us would be Celtic, and I would say our recent record in this is better than theirs (but perhaps I forget about their players who choose to play for Ireland). I think a lot of what talent you produce is down to luck of the draw from the talent pool, as long as they were reasonably well coached, and even scouting doesn't always help as the best players aren't always easy to spot at a young age. I've always thought the 'traditional' Rangers way of cherry picking the best talent in the country, including from our own supply, was how we achieved our excellence. It seems some traditions are easier to ditch than others.

Have you seen the bigoted Daily Record headline? "Falkirk fury at 'mindless' Rangers fans". The whole thing is propaganda to make a whole set of people seem 'mindless'. Firstly, it was one flare, so how do you translate that to the plural for 'fans'? Secondly the quoted word was taken out of context as the Falkirk official was exhonourating Rangers by making the point that their is little the club can do as "some mindless people do this kind of thing" (quote is from memory and so probably paraphrased). So a truthful headline would be "Falkirk fury at 'mindless' people who throw flares onto a pitch" and even with a bit of anti Rangers fudging should at worst have been "Falkirk fury at 'mindless' Rangers fan". But instead they go the full Goebbels and write a headline that implies that ALL Rangers fans are considered 'mindless' by Falkirk and they are furious at Rangers fans in general. They can argue all they like how it is meant to look but as so called jounalists, you'd assume they know what sticks in people's heads.

Abstention is the best for him especially as there could be a conflict of interest. Some people are saying he'll back the board to keep his job, but what if the board are removed? Would the new board want to keep him if he voted against them?
