  1. Utd are expected to win titles/trophies, Spurs are not. Plus Utd have a considerably larger budget and greater pulling power than Spurs. Spurs don't buy a lot of players. Pochettino has a proven record at both Southampton and Spurs of developing young players and playing the kind of attacking style Utd historically prefer. I think it's a fair guess that if he had the budget to bring in superstar quality like a Pogba while also developing young talent he could win trophies at Utd.
  2. I think the difference is that Liverpool are playing attractive attacking football while sitting top of the league 19 points clear of Utd and are currently the only undefeated team in that league. They have the look of a side going places. They're progressing while Utd are on a slide. Liverpool can win that league while Utd are out of the running before Xmas and have an almighty struggle ahead to make the top 4. Given the expectations they have had since the Ferguson era struggling to make the top 4 is unacceptable.
  3. Man Utd appear to confirm Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as interim manager in website post Manchester United appear to have confirmed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as interim manager at Old Trafford. There has been no official announcement that the Norwegian is taking over from Jose Mourinho, who was sacked earlier on Tuesday. But a page on the club's website referred to their ex-striker as "our interim manager". It was later deleted. More
  4. I'm not in any way superstitious so from that perspective not wary of mockery of anyone. My angle on this article is the haste to 'mock' us while we sit top of the league. And the reticence to take similar snipes at the yahoos who apparently have only the 5th best away record in this poor league. In fact an identical away record to that we have. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/46587283
  5. Have to wonder what the opinion is of the yahoos given their massive budget superiority and their current points haul. Grimmer than us presumably? How about hubz? Lying in 8th and with a significant budget superiority over the bulk of those above them. Or perhaps just taking snipes at Rangers is the optimal click bait.
  6. Man for man we're a better team than them but they seem capable of raising their standards for the 'big' games and a match with us, the league leaders, is obviously in that category. Arguably even more so than when they play a sheep or yahoos since there appears to be a mindless hatred of Rangers among their ranks. I hope for a high intensity display we're well capable of and a referee doing his job. If we force them on to the back foot and take the lead it's going to become ugly and we can't afford any more injuries to key players in this crucial period. Plus of course we don't want any cards resulting from sheer petulance. We all know who in particular that applies to.
  7. That would seem unlikely to me. United are stressing that a new appointment among other things has to embrace and be capable of implementing the traditional attacking style of the club which obviously suggests that Mourinho is not that kind of manager. Wouldn't Madrid want that same philosophy? It's not as if Mourinho has been limited in any way by budget or being in an unattractive league or leading an unfashionable club. United are at the top of the tree regarding all of these factors and he still couldn't deliver. It's being stated by the 'experts' that Mourinho is adhering to an outdated aesthetically unattractive style of football and appears incapable of transitioning to the more modern pressing style of say a Klopp. Yesterdays man so to speak and I don't see Madrid going for yesterdays man. Molde manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer being touted as interim manager. The Norwegian season has closed for a Winter break and wont resume till March. If that's the way they go I feel Solskjaer would jump at the chance to prove he can cut it at the top level. Plus his United background would be appealing for both him and the club.
  8. Doesn't come as a surprise to anyone presumably including the man himself. They're sitting 19 points below Liverpool and 14 points above the bottom 3. He spent almost £400 million on players. Gerrard is expected to win a league or at least come close on a £5 million spend. We would be looking for a tilt at the CL if spending money like Mourinho has. They were lucky to get out of the group stage. When the draw for the CL knockout stages was being made it was mentioned that everybody left standing would want to draw United. How the mighty have fallen. Might be thinking they should have gone for the German one when they had the chance.
  9. Against Man U Liverpool managed 36 shots to 6 for United but were still heading for a draw till late on. Such superiority as we discovered against Hamilton doesn't always guarantee a comfortable result. The difference might be that Liverpool have options on the bench which can change a tied/close game in the end stages. Score 1-1 looking like being a draw and on comes Shaqiri in the 70th minute who then scores 3 minutes later and again 7 minutes after that to make it 3-1. We don't have that level of quality sitting on the bench but then we aren't in the EPL. Hopefully the January window can bring us what's required to kill these matches off. Too dependent on Morelos and he appears to be a potential card every time he steps on to the pitch.
  10. What more motivation do they need in a home match. This can be a return to the top of the league albeit on GD.
  11. Well allegedly the 'suffering' amounts to betting on donkeys. I'm sure he can continue that endlessly.
  12. Perhaps, but i'm going to remain optimistic until it becomes unreasonable to do so. Just a couple of players can make a massive difference and we're about to enter a window where it seems certain there will be some major activity. And when Gerrard came in our most pressing goal was to see improvement. There can be no denying we are seeing improvement. This is the first time since we came back up that we have been contenders going into the break plus we have had an unexpected Euro run where we gave a decent account of ourselves. I'm expecting/hoping that each window will see the improvement take further steps in the right direction.
  13. Regarding a creative midfielder rumour is Ryan Gauld may be available. Could Rangers be alerted to availability of Ryan Gauld?

  15. That's a novel concept, time off work for gambling issues. Wonder if my employer would be amiable to that suggestion.
  16. Yep, and we need to beat them to help negate that. The fact we're still in there following what we all agree is a bad spell indicates to me that they're pretty much as inconsistent as we have been. This is eminently doable.
  17. Steven Gerrard features in all-time UEFA XI
  18. It's been too many points dropped, we should be topping the league. Though despite that I'm encouraged that we're still sitting in second with a game in hand over those directly below us and only 2 points off the top.
  19. I also just discovered that Eaves is the top scorer in league 1 playing for a side lying 16th in a league of 24.
  20. I don't think any potential Eaves may have can be compared to Hateley in the sense that Hateley played for Rangers at a time when the SPL had a far higher average quality than it does now. Eaves could potentially be as effective as Hateley in the current SPL. Plus looking at his stats and taking into consideration his age of 26 years he's just come into his physical prime and is scoring far more than he ever has before. As far as I can see he has scored a total of 30 goals in 62 games for Gillingham including 12 in the last 20 games. When you consider that's in a struggling bottom half of the league team it's not too shabby. If we actually are considering him that means far more experienced eyes than any of us have are looking him over and deciding he could do a job. It might very well be the case that he's just beginning to peak as he moves into his physical prime years.
  21. Yeah I suppose stupid in the sense that Liverpool obviously can win it and the journos don't or shouldn't need Guardiola to tell them that.
  22. I think we would all agree this team is crying out for a tall target man. All Eaves would have to do is hang in the opposing penalty box area either directing all those crosses into the net or providing knock downs. It doesn't take top quality to do that in the SPL.
  23. After Manchester City were beaten by Chelsea on Saturday, Pep Guardiola was asked if Liverpool could win the title. His answer? Yes. Yes they can. Eighteen titles but never a better record at this stage – so can Liverpool take Man City all the way?
  24. We need to pull a Levein and claim we're being robbed.
  25. In all truth I couldn't even name any of their strikers but would like to know who they are. I looked up the SPL top scorers list which has Morelos at the top with 9 league goals and 4 assists and goes all the way down to Mickel Miller of Hamilton with 3 goals and 0 assists. From Morelos at the top to Hamiltons Miller at the bottom 24 players are listed and not a single one of them are an Aberdeen player. ? https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/scottish-premiership/top-scorers
