Steven Gerrard tells the story of the Miracle in Istanbul
JFK-1 replied to JFK-1's topic in Rangers Chat
I don't see us getting to a CL final anytime in the near future but I do hope we can create a stirring memory for him soon. He's going to hear a noise he wont forget in a very long time if we take the unmentionables in an impressive fashion next month. And especially so if we top the league. -

Growing up I used to have a real affection for this partly because it was relatively cheap meaning I could get more for my money and I did indeed like it. Think it might heave been peculiar to Scotland or maybe even Lanarkshire i'm not sure.

I was never the type of person 'dying for a pint'. I could take it or leave it and I was taking it so much simply because all my friends were and how else can you do what you really want to do? Which is go out get some drinking bravado under the belt and chase women. Since the greatest gatherings of women were in the pubs and clubs that's where we went. I came from Hamilton where I suppose it could be said there were other things to do probably not available in a mining village but at the same time there were vastly more club and pub options than in a mining village. Done a lot of drugs too though not heroin. I would never take a needle to myself but done a lot of cocaine, LSD and decades of cannabis smoking which I was doing right up until I came to Oklahoma and never became addicted to any of these either. Some people just seem to be more susceptible to addiction and i'm not one of them. Though in saying that I have been smoking for decades. Oddly I could probably give that up too since when i'm forced to have no fags like on a long haul flight i'm not going crazy to have one when I reach the destination. I just enjoy it so much.

Bible belt zone. There is a 'mega church' not too far away which requires cops to direct traffic when it's coming out. Like a football match back home.

I have had not a drop of alcohol since I left Scotland over six and a half years ago though I didn't make a decision to stop drinking or anything like that. It's just that my American wife doesn't drink and there isn't the same pub culture here.

I'm a failed Jakey. When I was young and stupid I was always trying to drink as much or even more than all the other young and stupid and in general I did. But there was a difference between them and me. For example we could go out on a Friday night and drink ourselves into a jail bait stupor and next day they could resume where we had left off and do it all over again. I couldn't. I was always sick as a dug and to such an extent that I was still too messed up to go to work one Monday after one of these Friday night sessions. So, failed alcy. And in fact more than one of those young and stupid drinking partners did indeed progress to full blown alcy.

Griffiths is simply like Lennon there, Just 'having a bit of fun'. A bit of fun we and every other person with a smattering of intelligence knows is provocative and can potentially create a riot situation. The police appear to be acknowledging that at last. I think the 'bit of fun' utter crap would swiftly be seen for exactly what it is if Stevie G were to approach their merry band such as in the pic below if we beat them at Ibrox next month. Of course we already know our manager has more dignity, self control, and simple common sense than the likes of Lennon.

I was encouraged to hear him say "I hope I stay here for a very long time" I don't see him as the type of person who would say something like that if he didn't mean it.

To me it makes no sense to sell our best player mid season while we sit within touching distance of the top of the league and he's under contract for the next 3 and a half years. The bids will continue coming next Summer and the following Summer too when he will still be under contract for a further 2 years. I can only see him getting even better in that time which can only increase the ultimate value. Plus Gerrard has already stated he would be seriously pissed off if the board were to sell Morelos.

I'm glad they ran out comfortable winners leaving the conquerors of the yahoos still pointless after 5 games. But I don't think all the Ajax fans are having a good night and I hope they get out of there safely.

Well I think if that's the state of security in some of these nations it's even more reason for UEFA to take drastic action. We can draw teams from such nations in Euro competition. If petrol bombs aren't a watershed moment for UEFA what can be? Hand grenades? Bazookas?

Imagine that falling into a typical densely packed crowd at Ibrox. It's certain to result in many horrific life changing injuries and very possibly multiple fatalities.
-
I think you need an oil change. ?

I and I think pretty much any court in the civilised world would view that picture above as not passion but more akin to attempted murder. And i'm more than confident that would be the view if something like that came flying into Rangers supporters at Ibrox when the yahoos come visiting. Or vice versa for that matter.

It's insane and UEFA need to crack down on them big time.

I get your point but in comparison to their most recent history they're all conquering. They're currently in the midst of their best ever start to a Premier league season one of only 2 sides still unbeaten in the league. They have been transformed into not just a certain top 4 side but genuine title challengers and Champions league finalists last season. Klopp already has legendary status in Liverpool despite the lack of a trophy.

A few months or so ago I saw there that Liverpool are paying Stevie G's wages. Has to be true I suppose. Cos we're skint. Right? And on a Hearts forum no less that we will be in financial meltdown before the end of the season which will jump them a spot in the league. But that's a common theme through all opposition I suppose. From a Motherwell forum after we gubbed them 7-1 came the revelation that this is embarrassing because Rangers are shite. The poster in question stated that he wouldn't mind being gubbed like that by the sheep but not Rangers because as stated Rangers are utter shite. Sheep presumably top quality. I wonder what that makes Motherwell lying 13 points and a GD difference of 31 goals behind us if Rangers are shite.

You would think he absolutely has to go somewhere on loan in January because he's not going to get into that all conquering Liverpool team. He's at such an important stage of his development he has to be playing first team football. A whole host of English Championship clubs would jump at the chance but we hold an ace card in Stevie G. Liverpool trust him to not just utilise their young loanees but to actually develop them.

I'm presuming Leeds would at a minimum match his current salary. And they're in the promotion race. It's a chance for him to reach the mega riches of the EPL.

I think he is the scond best goalie we have but not only would it be good business to let him go for a few million it's probably the best thing for Wes. He has given us good service and at this stage in his career he has to be playing rather than sitting on a bench.
