Before I start 3 points. 1) Yes, there are other players more deserving of abuse. If you believe that to be the case, start a thread on said player. This is discuss a particular player and issue. 2) I fully admit I start this thread because he is in direct competition with a player I rate, but bear in mind the levels of abuse him and Boyd receive (Boyd gets about 1000x as much abuse) whilst also acknowledging Boyd costs us about 1/10 what Lafferty did. 3) The main reason for starting this is from reading continual bollocks on FF, but if I posted this particular thread there it wouldn't last 2 seconds. Lafferty is plain crap. He is tall, but poor in the air. He can't time his jumps and too often jumps with his arms giving away "obvious" fouls (I disagree, but we'll look at it from a ref's point of view) much the same as Boyd. Taking the St Johnstone game as a good example, he is off side far too often, often through lazy play. I.e. just not walking back onside after the last attack. His touch is poor. Why is he untouchable? Why does Boyd get so much stick. What do we expect from a man who cost £400k whilst ignoring the failings of a player who cost nigh on 10x that amount. Is Boyd lazy? Or is he just lacking in athletic ability and just plain not very good? But does he at least hit the back of the net. Why does a man who cost us not much (a reflection of his quality, lets be honest) and who not many rate get so much abuse, yet another player who cost almost 10 times the amount and is supposedly blessed with an abundance of abilities afforded so much good will from the fans? I'm not saying Lafferty is a terrible player. I'm not saying he doesn't have potential. But he has in no way developed into a decent striker yet. We were absolutely mugged by Burnley (I think). Almost £4mil for a player who is that "rough". It's a fucking shambles. Boyd rightly gets stick for his contribution at times. But is it that much worse than, Miller (sometimes yes), Naismith, Lafferty and Novo (Over his Gers career most certainly yes)? On a game by game basis, no. If Lafferty, or any of our other forwards for that matter, were this Drogba-esque striker then fair enough. Quite frankly i'm back to the point where the man who knows where the back of the net is starts every game and we accept it wont happen every game. Speaking of our other strikers. Miller was twice played in on the left hand side of the box (whilst it still mattered) and was a complete shite bag, even he has no confidence in his shooting ability. Even Novo, a man of little natural ability, would have pulled the trigger. Miller wasted the opportunities. I'm not extolling the virtues of Boyd. I'm just pointing out all our forwards are sadly lacking in numerous areas, so lets play the one who has the biggest plus of all. Goals!

Don't take it as gospel Craig, just personal opinion/experience. The only explanation I have is maybe Glasgow/Edinburgh is like the london of Scotland and prices are exorbitant there but more reasonable further away from the main cities? But as I say living in Bucks, one of the home counties and hence not "cheap" I didn't notice a benefit to moving to Glasgow and being so far away from London. Maybe once upon a time that was the case, but personally I don't see it anymore.

Andy Webster cannot return to Rangers in January
Super_Ally replied to Zappa's topic in Rangers Chat
That doesn't have sod all to do with the exceptional circumstances "rule", though craig is correct it is normally applied to goalkeepers. If we couldn't field a defence I reckon there would be cause. But I don't think it would come to that. -
I'm not convinced that wages and cost of living vary across the UK as much as is made out outwith London. Sure maybe at the upper end you can maybe earn more in london with london-weighting or allowance or whatever they call it. But shite wages are shite wages wherever else in the country you live. I seemed to pay as much/more for a room in a flat in Glasgow as mates paid to rent a house in other parts of the UK.

But you can loan a player in exceptional circumstances. Would it not be a bit odd not to be able to cancel a loan in such circumstances? -
Rangers Donate 1200 CL Tickets to Armed Forces
Super_Ally replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
No. But an opportunity for good PR and to thank Scottish soldiers arose and the club took it. Well done to them I say.- 30 replies

Rangers Donate 1200 CL Tickets to Armed Forces
Super_Ally replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
So what? They wouldn't have been used anyway. Leave the stadium empty. Or put them to a good cause? I'd look at it from the glass half full p.o.v. for once.- 30 replies

Rangers Donate 1200 CL Tickets to Armed Forces
Super_Ally replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/h...-away-1.927386 British football clubs have been asked to donate unsold match tickets to Armed Forces personnel following Rangers’ decision to allow more than a thousand troops into their Champions League clash against Unirea Urziceni. Gregory Campbell, DUP MP for East Londonderry, wants clubs that are still playing in European competitions to follow the example of the Scottish champions. Rangers donated more than 1,200 tickets to members of the Armed Forces for their game against Unirea Urziceni at Ibrox tonight and claimed the gesture was a “UK first”. The club made the move last week after the Romanian side said they would not be using all of the tickets allocated for their supporters in the away section of the ground. Mr Campbell, who has tabled a motion in the House of Commons calling on the clubs to make the donation ,said he “welcomed” the decision by Rangers. He said: “Whilst Rangers FC has developed this initiative, it would be a very admirable act if all other UK clubs who are in a similar position followed their example. “In many cases these seats would not be allocated, therefore it will not be costing the clubs anything beyond administering the transport of the tickets to the MoD. “It also shows in a small but tangible way our gratitude to the Armed Forces who represent the United Kingdom right across the world. Many of these soldiers have been away from friends and family for several months facing danger and a violent enemy. “They deserve to have the opportunity to attend a prestigious European game free of charge and I think this would be a nice gesture by the respective clubs. “Having raised this issue in the House of Commons, I will now be writing to each of the UK’s clubs currently competing in European competitions, informing them of the decision taken by Rangers and I will be urging them to replicate this policy,” he added. Rangers chief executive Martin Bain said: “This football club is totally committed to supporting and recognising these brave individuals. “We all owe the members of the Armed Forces a huge debt of gratitude and our fans will give them a wonderful and deserved reception when they attend our European tie.” The tickets were donated to the Army in Scotland, the club said.- 30 replies

I'm still not convinced. -
I don't really have a feeling for the score just now. Any win will do me. :spl:

Single biggest loss we could have for tonight's game. I would never play Papac at CB in the SPL. I reckon he'd be rag-dolled by all the big targetman. However I imagine the Romania's play a more continental brand of football and would tempted to partner Papac with Weir tonight as I think he is a cleverer defender than McCulloch and would perform better tonight.

That is a shame to hear. When I still had my season ticket I was sat right near TBO. If it wasn't for them the stadium would be like a library. Latterly the likes of the CDL performed the same role in other parts of the staidum. As has been suggested would be good if they joined other singing sections.

It's a sad day for football that fans, sorry customers are even asking this question.

Aye, I guess. Alluding to the more extreme possibility sells more papers than a "wait and see" approach and I guess Walter's comments made it more easy for them. But it is better normally to wait for real answers and not jump to conclusions. Plus I like to have a good moan at our scum media.

So it was shit stirring from the Scottish Press as usual then.

How does the last line fit in with the rest of the article?

Mystery as Madjid Bougherra fails to return from qualifier

Perhaps that would be reason for a lesser punishment than BF/AM? It's a first offence. -

Ha ha, I added the surname as an after-thought as a mate I call andy posts here and I thought it might cause confusion. Though as his name on here is andrew_2010 the only one it could confuse is me. -
Could it set a precedent for fans launching objects at the field everytime they think the opposition are about to score?

Mystery as Madjid Bougherra fails to return from qualifier
Super_Ally replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
I think the context of the post was misconstrued, though perhaps that's because I didn't put it across well. The main point wasn't about "winning at all costs". It was more about my own personal view that results massively outwiegh any other concerns. Tbh, I expected little support for my view, but some things have to be said anyway. -

I have a fair idea of your response to come on the other thread then. Why have you and MF hijacked that thread. You could have discussed that in here. :box: :fish: -
And what are the players picking up their salaries for if they aren't going out in the right frame of mind. I don't understand going into a sporting contest without focusing on anything other than giving your very best and aiming to win. If our players approached every match like that we'd win 95% of our games (domestically at least). He shouldn't need a rocket up his arse and the players are very bit as much to blame for that as the management. If not more so.

I don't advocate letting him away with it. I just wonder if Smith believes he has given him his punishment?
