  1. The old we didn't try to win the UEFA Cup Final argument. The staple argument of retards on Rangers boards. We got to the final being defensively strong and resilient, hitting on the counter with a combination of team spirit, will to win, tactics and luck allowing us to defeat superior opposition. Zenit horsed a decent Bayern Munich team who attacked the Russians. Of course logic dictates that we should have attacked the Russians and not played to our strengths. I'm sorry but playing the Russians at their own game, as a superior to us Bayern did, would have constituted not trying to win the game. It's kamikaze nonsense. Look at what happens to the vast majority of teams who try to out-do Barca or Arsenal with passing football. We played to our strengths against Zenit, giving us the best opportunity of securing a result. In no possible way does it make sense to completely change the way we played and won just because we'd made a final.
  2. Rumour on FF recently was Celtic was the more likely destination.
  3. £2k wage cap at hibs, at least i'm sure i've read that.
  4. With the two games in hand, even a draw today and we would have been laughing. As it is, we still have the potential to establish a favourable position, but must win the games in hand.
  5. Unfortunately that's what I assumed. No way they would be able to get accurate numbers on what all the footballers in the SPL earn.
  6. Players must use this as motivation to ensure we win the two games in hand and regain top spot asap.
  7. Where do they get this info from???
  8. Unfortunately not being as good as McCoist does not preclude you from playing for Rangers atm. We have played with much worse for much longer. Not really sure of the point of your post.
  9. No chance. Back to the usual of running down blind alleys and picking wrong options. There may have been contributing factors and he was not alone in playing poorly but we do not pretend that he was anything other than very poor. Ness was our best player imo.
  10. He wasn't restricted to the left wing today and deserves the flack for reverting back from his excellent performance at Motherwell to running down blind alleys, being greedy and ineffectual.
  11. That's how it looked on sky. What the reason was for his delay in appearing I do not know.
  12. I don't see why Davis gets let off though. This year he's been just as poor in terms of creativity than anyone else. And this from a player whom attacking is supposed to be more a strength than more defensive midfielders we have.
  13. I think it looks very good mate, but then I am absolutely clueless when it comes to anything arty. A fitting tribute imo.
  14. Win tomorrow and they're only 3 points behind Celtic whilst we still have two games in hand. I'm happy enough that they won and on the balance of play they deserved it.
  15. I sat down today infront of the box looking forward to an afternoon of sport on a relaxing New Year's day for myself. After the introductory programmes of Soccer AM and Football Focus first up was a choice between the Edinburgh Derby on ESPN or West Brom hosting Man United on Sky Sports. No doubt most fans in Scotland, outwith those of the two capital clubs, including many many Rangers fans would have plumped for the glitz and glamour of the EPL and table topping Man United looking to extend their lead against Roberto Di Matteo's Midlands club. The English game provided more goals as United ran out 2-1 winners whilst Hearts edged out Hibernian with a late winner from Kevin Kyle. The argument of most fans will be that when there team is not playing, if they are to watch a game as a neutral they want to watch high class competition and the best players available. It is undoubtedly true that Sir Alex's United and their opposition today can boast far more quality than either of our capital clubs. Much like our own football, EPL games typically feature fast and frenetic action but played out amongst a higher standard of football and inidividual performances. Sky's marketing of the EPL as the self-proclaimed greatest league in the world no doubt helps. Yet surely this puts us in somewhat of a dilemma? We, Scottish football fans in general but probably more than most as Rangers fans, are not slow to gripe and grumble about the state of our game. Every year moaning the quality is worse than years previous. Questioning the quality of the players and competence of the officials. Slaughtering the half-assed output of the tv companies who have stumped up a paltry sum to support and broadcast our national league. We moan that no one invests in our product. Yet if nobody is watching, what is there for broadcasters and sponsors to invest in? Companies willing to put money into football will surely take note of how many fans are watching. We cannot affect attendance at other clubs games, but we can affect viewing figures. How can we expect anyone to support our league if we will not? If you are only watching a game as an interested neutral, why not pick the SPL fixture. It may even prove beneficial to ourselves. We can increase our knowledge of our opposition. Who are the danger man for the opposition we have coming up? Who may cause us problems or where are their weak links. Are there any players that could really cause us or Celtic problems and should we be looking at anyone to fix our own problem areas? Aside from developing your own knowledge of the teams and players we will face, and i'm sure most Rangers fans are ignorant of much of Scottish football below the top two of the SPL, it must surely prove beneficial for Rangers? If more people are watching SPL football broadcasters and sponsors would most likely be willing to invest more money in our game and also provide more professional broadcasts of our fixtures. Next time it's a choice between a routine victory for an EPL heavyweight against an also-ran (ok by all accounts WBA could've/should've taken something from today's game, but they didn't) and scouting out our upcoming opponents and supporting Scottish football then it is up to all of us, Rangers fans, fans of Scottish football, to do our duty and switch off the EPL and switch on the SPL!
  16. Been high on commitment short on goal mouth action so far. Kyle looked a bit of a handful though. Saw the Murray challenge on Black and initially thought that's a bit daft, then saw who it was who was nearly ko'd and thought "YASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!".
  17. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/scot_prem/default.stm Do they not have anyone to check this stuff? Looks very poor on their part.
  18. Writing it now. Plan was to have it up early today but i've had the worst hangover in living memory and only now surfaced properly. Edit: Up now, apologies for the delay.
  19. If Whyte takes over the club (I know, I know) do you think he would listen to the fans and ban Britney.
  20. Didn't read the second quote. Too long. Re: the first one, it does indeed show that Celtic have received more bookings while we have received less on average. It does not, as the author states, prove that Thompson is harsher on them or gives them the rough end of the decisions. Merely demonstrating they have had cards does not show bias. It demonstrated their players have commited infractions the referee deemed worthy of punishment. They would need to demonstrate that the ref in question had consistently made wrong calls against them and their previous shows that the can in know way be impartial in doing this. They note only decisions that go against them, whether or not they were a correct call and never any that go in their favour. The point is, though, that merely receiving cards does not demonstrate anything other than that they probably deserved them.
  21. Preparing myself for a propaganda offensive from Celtic via the medium of Jim White.
  22. Will likely end up in the HoF. Some will shit bricks about that, but it will be well deserved imo.
  23. I saw the headline and thought oh no, he's "done a celtic". Opened his gob and let his belly rumble. Fortunately all he has said is we are playing for the win and not we will win. Hopefully he is right.
  24. Would've been much more confident heading into this game had we still been leading the league. Celtic taking top spot put a completely different perspective on the game psychologically. They're not playing to extend their lead and make it harder for us to reclaim top spot with our games in hand. We all know points in the bag are more valuable than games in hand. Not seen them play recently, though their results have been less than impressive. If we put our strongest line up out we should be able to do enough. First goal could be crucial. Hoping for a victory by a couple of clear goals at least. Unfortunately we are always liable to lose one at the back. I'll take 2-0 though.
  25. Miller's loss too? Based on the rest of his career anyway.
