  1. He's Director of Football, the coach is still there. Regardles, the way we've been playing does anyone really think we've got a chance?
  2. The eight I'm thinking of are McGregor, Bougherra, Whittaker, Broadfoot, Davis, Edu, Naismith and Jelavic.
  3. I knew he had played there, thought it was more as a stopgap than through choice though. Doubt we could afford him though.
  4. I have to say, I was very pleasantly surprised with Bardsley tonight. He did well at right back in his previous couple of games, but tongiht he was excellent. Wallace I'm not sure off, I haven't seen that much of him, but never remember him impressing me much. Whittaker is never a left back. Ever. I happen to think he's a good player just going through a dip in form, but never at left back. As for up front, I had high hopes for Fletcher, but that seems to have fallen away now. There's Goodwillie, assuming all his outside nonsense gets sortedm, I still think Riordan has the talent, but maybe not the application, Boyd, but we know he's not a lone striker, but surely we're not gonna rely on Chris Maguire!!!!!
  5. I like to think tonight it was the outstanding Scotland midfield. That wee Barry Bannan does look like a good wee player.
  6. Indeed. Glad to see Naismith and Davis coming off.
  7. It was a lovely goal. We're looking really good, albeit against weakened opposition.
  8. Even he couldn't miss that one
  9. Good to see Kenny Miller hasn't lost his ability to blast it over from ten yards out.
  10. Well, I'm sitting down to watch it. I would rather see games like this than friendlies against the Faroes. Decent enough team we have out tonight, although Caldwell at centre half doesn't fill me with joy. We really need to find a left back or two as well.
  11. Aye, but you can just see him at home "Whit's that bastard McCoist doin' to my team???"
  12. Like he said, he wasn't exactly part of the greatest Gers team of all time.
  13. you realise Walter is at home hyperventilating at the very thought of this
  14. Wondering what folks' thoughts on him are? This is what, his third full season as part of the first team squad and he's yet to really make an impression. All the hype before he came in and the fact that he does obviously have a fair bit of talent, yet he can't get a look in at the moment. I think that he's struggling to find his position - i really don't see him as a left midfileder/winger and to be honest can't see him as a striker. I think centre midfield, with a kind of Gazza/Scholes type role, breaking into the box, dictating the tempo. I'm in no way writing him off, but at the same time, especially with our slender squad, I'm hoping to see something from him before teh end of the season.
  15. The problem is, if the likes of Ness continue to progress, will we be able to keep him? And we can look at it another way - we have at least 8 first team players about to come into their prime, with promising youth to back them up.
  16. Jeez, that's opening another whole can of worms :-0
  17. I reckon Boogie would do well in there, but as has been mentioned, we don't have the options and Walter would be loathe to try it even if we did.
  18. As I said in my preview for last nights game, he was my player of the season last year. He is limited, he is slow, but he reads the game well, gets into a tackle, rarely gives the ball away. Maybe people won't realise his contribution till he's not there.
  19. Would I be right saying that United spent about £10 million less on signing Rooney? Surely he appeared to have much more potential and much more of an established reputation at the time?
  20. Unless anyone wants to jump in - anyone - I can knock up the Hertz one tomorrow afternoon?
  21. Never realised Sammon had gone and I won't debate your accurate assesment of the other two, but I'm just concerned about the physicality. I'm just speculating, he might be built like David Haye, but Arsenal don't have a great record under Wenger of having dominant centre halves. That's all.
  22. I think Carroll will go on and develop into a fantastic player, but like Gav said, he's just unproven. He's had six months in the premiership, that's it. If you're gonna pay so much, get someone with a reputation - Darren Bent was half that, but he's got the stats to back it up. Crazy, panic buying. What if they had signed Carroll and Suarez and Torres decided he wasn't happy going to Chelsea :-)
  23. The worry I would have about Bartley is that he's from Arsenal. I've no doubt he'll be a very good footballer, but Arsene doesn't really do the big, strong, commanding centre half. I know nothing about the lad, but am just slightly cocnernedhe may struggle coming up against the likes of Sammon, Kyle and Nish, big lads who throw their weight about. But we needed a centre half - especially with Webstergate. Even if he had stayed he just wasn't getting a chance, which is a shame as I always rated him as a player. As for Diouf, I dunno. I like him as a footballer, always have, but I do think he's a tad insane. It'll wind Timmy up, no doubt, and there's mileage in that, but the whole thing with Jamie Mackie was pretty revolting. If anything, you would expect him to have a bit of respect for a fellow pro, but obviously not. But, you got to give folk the benefit of the doubt and I'll get behind him and hope he screws the nut whilst here and gets a few goals. I do like the idea of him and Jelavic up front. Healy - Beattie, Ostenstad etc. etc. Not thrilled, he won't play much, might get a goal in teh Scottish cup. Meh.
