Why would you worry about grammar or spelling when your target audience can barely read?

Celtic Boys Club manager 'stuffed banknotes in boy's mouth'
Bill replied to ian1964's topic in General Football Chat
There's no justice in Scotland, any more than there is effective policing, healthcare, education or financial governance. Humza Yousaf is as equipped to be Justice Secretary as my cat ... but only just. It's hard to know whether by design or incompetence but it seems the SNP is hell bent on dismantling anything of worth in Scotland. They've reduced politics to a display of petty bigotry and Humza Yousaf is no worse than many other senior SNP figures in government at Holyrood. The idea he would put loyalty to his football club before the interests of its paedophile victims is no less fanciful than a Transport Secretary who thinks the hokey kokey is an anti-catholic ritual ... or that a university dropout is capable of managing the country's finances. I used to think it would be impossible for any political party to accumulate more low-grade flotsam than pre-devolution Labour but it's clear the SNP has scraped deeper barrels and managed to find even more inept chancers to do its business all over Scottish life. Humza Yousaf will continue to protect Celtic FC, just as the SNP will continue to refuse to release information on its commercial relationship with its current Health Secretary. Rotten to its core. -
A few years ago we’d have let McPake slip through our fingers. Things are slowly getting better. King, Allen, Gerrard and the rest of the team are due considerable praise. They seem to be taking the club where we should have been 25 years ago but didn’t have the vision or leadership to drag us out of the dark ages. In years to come we might yet enjoy a silver lining to the clouds of the admin years.

As important as improving the playing squad will be, I also think there has been a dramatic shift in momentum, help greatly by the management changes at Celtic. I think we’re all conscious now of Rangers clearly going forward, matched by an unfamiliar sense of doubt across the city. For the the first time since administration I think a tipping point has been reached, although it might be after New Year when this becomes apparent. -
I wouldn't get too excited about ford versus fort. Gaelic orthography was only 'settled' relatively recently and disputes over spelling still exist between Stornoway orthodoxy and the likes of Skye, Mull, Islay, etc. There's no guarantee the derivation of Ibrox involved the term 'ath' at all, let alone which meaning it might carry.

I just hope he's a lot better than the last Swedish central defender we signed! Assuming this one can actually head a ball, I wonder if this signals Edmundson or Katic going on loan for a spell? -

How do we come to the conclusion that Candeias offers a poor return? What’s that sweeping judgement based on? -
As far as I understand it, the rule was never about the ball touching a player’s hand. It was about preventing a player from using his hand or arm to control or manipulate the ball. In my opinion that should remain the basis of the rule. In pursuing absolute decisions, based on black and white criteria, we are going to destroy the sport. The problem in Scotland isn’t one of making subjective decisions, it’s about deliberately using that subjective discretion to exercise bias in favour of one team.
-
... just as one VAR panel will interpret differently from another. There is no absolute in football.
-
It’s touching that you think VAR will be applied fairly in Scotland.
-
I’m one of those who wanted VAR but have changed my mind completely now I’ve seen it in action.

It’s not a selling decision, it’s a decision to pre-authorise the buyer. ? It’s putting the possibility of a sale entirely in the hands of the acquirer. You might say the seller has already made the decision to sell should the buyer decide to buy - but you might equally say the buyer has already made the decision not to sell should the buyer decide not to buy. Anyway, I’ve got nothing to say on any McCrorie deal since I have no information about it. -

No it's not. For example, in share dealing if you enter into a contract to grant someone a call option, you have no right to stop them buying before a nominated date, so long as the original contractual conditions are met. Any contract can be set up to achieve the same outcome. I've no idea if this applies in the case of McCrorie but there's no doubt it could in theory. -

I’ll be surprised if McRorie doesn’t do very well on his loan spell and returns a better player ... who will likely then be moved on. -

I think we're too slow to understand the transition that's taking place at Rangers. By and large, we will now trade players on two distinct levels. On one level we will buy and bring in loan players who, on the basis of proven track record, we believe will improve the current playing squad. On an entirely separate basis, albeit with occasional overlap, I believe we will now buy and raise players specifically for the purpose of generating income with which to operate the club. I think we must have at least six players on board right now who are not earmarked as permanent first team players and we would probably need to revise sentiments like those being expressed about Ross McRorie. The days of regarding youth development as a conduit into our first team are over. Some may make it but most never will and, while they may be given an opportunity, neither will they be be expected to. I think Ross McRorie is one of these. In the past we frequently discarded players for knock-down prices and regarded it as a failure of recruitment and development, making a loss in the process (Martin Bain's famous fire sales). It looks increasingly like we have moved into a more commercially professional regime, thanks mainly to Mark Allen, who I think is doing a magnificent job of bringing Rangers into the modern era and his work now will be paying dividends for years to come. -
Hell of a gamble when you consider how much money is at stake at a club like Chelsea.

Whatever they do it should be kept off the TV.

It doesn't matter if we were playing Hibs, Barcelona or Wick Academy, I think that SC final will stick in the craw of a lot of Rangers supporters for a very long time. Not because we lost but because of the way we lost and capitulation is pretty much the only description that comes to mind. Losing is part of football, what we did that day is unacceptable. A very low point. -

So many talented wingers show the same flaws. I wonder how the likes of Davie Cooper would get on today? He had it all but could also frustrate and go missing in so many of his games for Rangers. -

If Fod and Alnwick both leave I guess that will only leave us with Firth as backup to McGregor - assuming McRorie goes out on loan. Could be a bit thin. -

I imagine UEFA has little or no interest in teams who play in this stage of its tournaments, other than allowing it to maintain its pretence as a continental authority. -

His entire leaving process was a farce of indecision and confusion. Pretty much like the playing squad he left behind.
