Evening Times employs punchy headline?
Bill replied to 26th of foot's topic in General Football Chat
If you handover money for these newspapers then you have every right to be offended and frustrated by biased journalism. If you refuse to ever buy these newspapers then you have every right to be offended and frustrated by those who do. -
Never heard of him.

Does anyone happen to know if Craig is experiencing negativity "issues"? Maybe we need to think about how he can be helped. ? -
Far be it from me to defend that cretin but he's right in so much as more and more young people don't seem able to handle stress or criticism. I'm not sure suppressing the fact is a great idea either.

The BBC and the gutter press are trying hard. With time running out they must be getting desperate. Maybe if the Daily Record offered £30m they could actually get rid of Morelos. I sneer at them all. -
Canning deserves a lot of credit for his efforts at Hamilton. I think they'll do well to improve on his leadership.

Why is Morelos being sold even a topic of discussion? It suggests the gutter media still lead us by the nose in these matters. -
I’m sure, when he’s found, he’ll be greeted vigorously by the Rangers support ... so don’t expect it to be a high profile televised game.

Where is Willie Collum? It's not long since it seemed we couldn't go two weeks without Willie Collum refereeing a Rangers game. Now it's becoming clear the SFA is deliberately keeping him as far away from Rangers as possible. Which is strange, given how vigorously they absolved him of any blame for the now notorious incident where he, ahem, imagineered the sending off of Daniel Candeias. In reality, his ongoing absence only confirms his incompetence and his subsequent dishonesty.

£8m for Tavernier? Where do I sign. -
Good and bad but overall I’d say it’s better than here. Watching football in the summer sunshine instead of the cold and dark of winter does tend to sway opinion in their favour however.

Tbh it’s not just Scotland.Commentary south of the border is just as inane. It’s as if they can’t allow the viewer to form any opinion of their own. The have to tell us what to think from start to finish. Most of all, they talk incessantly when a little silence would add so much.

I spend a fair amount of time in Sweden and never fail to be impressed by the difference in style between their football commentary and our own. Whether Swedish TV is showing their own league football of games from all over Europe, the contrast with Scottish TV coverage couldn't be more stark. The one thing above all others that the Swedes seem able to to that we don't is to shut their mouths when there is nothing useful to contribute. For some reason they don't seem compelled to maintain a constant barrage of drivel and seem strangely willing to allow the viewer to watch the game and interpret it for themselves. You can't imagine how enjoyable this is until you try it. Our coverage seems forced and childish by comparison. Listening to an endless repetition of names as the ball is passed from player to player across the back line might be entertainment to some but it's mind-numbingly stupid to me. The TV equivalent of reading the Sun. The more I experience the difference, the more I'm inclined to turn the sound way down and somehow, the loss of Michael Stewart, Chris Sutton and the resident BBC windbags only improves the experience.

Thanks for posting a fascinating historical film. "Glasgow's great Ibrox Stadium". I wonder what the welcome would be like if the visit was repeated today? Thankfully, we don't have a presidential head of state in this country and it's probably pointless to confuse the monarchy with the person who happens to fill the majestic shoes from time to time. But it seems nearly everyone needs to make a soap opera of the royal family. You have to wonder what purpose is served by calling the heir to the throne a buffoon? Surely it really only matters that there will be a king - that it happens to be Charles instead of someone else is largely irrelevant. Perhaps I'm just less aware of buffoonery but personally I think he'll make an excellent king.

SFA to meet Scottish Premiership clubs over referee and appeal issues

There can be no criticism of the referee ? -
Nor me, although I wouldn’t mind someone making me a decent offer.

Before spending one more penny on new players, I'd first like to hear our manager identify the causes of the mental weakness that appears to be at the root of our inconsistencies. There must come a point where repeatedly describing the problems facing us is replaced by describing the solutions to those problems. There's a very familiar repetitiveness to the cycle of promise and disappointment we hear in every post match interview. -

If people think we lost to Kilmarnock because of Joe Worral they need to think again. Worral made a mistake and we lost a goal. The reason we lost the game was an aimless, gutless performance by the entire team, including the coaching staff. Blaming a defeat on individual mistakes by individual players is to discount the other 90+ minutes of the game. We've lost goals in the past to horrendous errors and still won the game by four goals. -

I'm not sure I can see any point even thinking about more new signings at this time. Our big problem isn't a lack of technical skills or game experience. There's a malaise of character and determination that's plagued every team we've put on the park since Walter Smith left. Continuing to bring in new players will change little until we have a manager who's willing to sort that out. We won't win much until we do. -

There's a sickness about Rangers that's been evident since Walter left. The slightest thing goes against us and we capitulate and down tools. In every season since Walter left we have become progressively weaker as the season ran on. There's a distinct lack of steel, a huge lack of belief. We've signed too many powder puffs in recent years and no one currently epitomises this more for me than Tavernier. He's just about the last person I'd have as captain. God knows what Gerrard was doing giving him the armband.
