  1. I'm just glad the people on this thread aren't picking Pedro's replacement.
  2. Surely no one would think of putting Walter thru that again. For good or bad, I don’t think it will be anyone other than Derek McInnes this time
  3. There are only two kinds of manager we can approach. Those who wouldnt touch it with a barge pole and those who couldn’t do the job. It’s a poisoned chalice and that won’t change under the current board. That’s pretty much the extent of my optimism.
  4. I think we should remember that Pedro didn't just stroll into Ibrox one day and start managing the team. He was chosen and appointed after what we're told was a thorough process of diligence and assessment. Piling blame and accusation on Pedro Caixinha for another failing season is meaningless if done in isolation of the people who put him in the manager's chair. I've said before that these are our Barnes and Brady years and that applies every bit as much to the directors as it does to the manager. Personally, I can see little to be gained from sacking Caixinha unless something is done to improve decision making at board level.
  5. Jack should indeed be fined for his stupidity and I hope he will be. But try not to lose all composure.
  6. By the referee, certainly. The last few games have been ruined by refereeing that's consistently bizarre and inexplicable, tonight was right up there with the sordid worst of them. I don't pretend to understand what's going on but the darkest suspicions are surviving every eliminating round.
  7. The manager is demoralised, the players are demoralised and the fans are demoralised. That's what happens when you believe the match officials and the footballing authorities are corrupt and will never give you fair and honest treatment. The upshot is a club that's underperforming and a support that's anxious and divided. You can hire any manager or players you want and it will still end up in the same mess. That's the intention of the cheats and morons running our game and it looks like it will go on and on. So have a care how you react to our staff and players. They're having to work with one hand tied behind their backs and have more than the other 11 teams to try to beat.
  8. You might be better starting a catch-all thread about refereeing in Scotland.
  9. Such is the shameless incompetence at the SFA, it wouldn't surprise me if the action against Alves was withdrawn without explanation.
  10. Not so long ago Dundee United was lording it over us from the apparent security of Celtic's shadow. Not so smug now though. One of the truly horrible clubs in Scotland, I long for the day when it descends into obscurity forever.
  11. What’s clear is that we have too many players who are simply not committing themselves. If that’s what Pedro is saying then we need to get full square behind him
  12. There’s no way I’m going to condemn Bruno for what he tried to do. However I am upset that he missed and didn’t cripple the bastard. Maybe next time. Shoulder to shoulder we stand.
  13. This ... Foderingham Tavernier McCrorie Alves John Candeias Jack Dorrans Holt Herrera Morelos Windass binned, Pena benched.
  14. One says they were elected. One says they were not elected. Where do you go with this?
  15. The right manager always makes success more likely but finding the right manager and supporting him financially is hardly something we excel at. I'm not sure I'd trust the current Rangers board to appoint anyone better than Pedro Caixinha and if they did I suspect there are several current players who would also want out. Caixinha might be part of the problem but getting rid of him certainly won't solve all our problems. The squad is stronger ... it was so poor last season it could hardly be anything else ... but it still just isn't strong enough to give us the success we want. Like it or not, we're still short of 5 or 6 players and we don't have the money to buy them. Over the season we'll compete with Aberdeen but forget any ideas about winning titles for the foreseeable future.
  16. A few years ago Celtic pushed back so hard it led to referees threatening to go on strike. People sneered at them and their paranoia but the authorities ended up capitulating and Celtic emerged with one hand on the throat of the SFA. It was deliberate and calculated ... and it worked. In contrast, Rangers has adopted the role of victim and appears ever weaker because of it. There now seems to be a subliminal attitude among our referees that they must routinely demonstrate "neutrality" by actively disadvantaging Rangers. We urgently need to apply pressure on referees ourselves and silence won't do it. This calls for loud and very public complaint .. and bugger the sneers that come because of it.
  17. Motherwell won fair and square today and it should take nothing from their victory to also acknowledge yet another truly awful display of refereeing incompetence. Is there no one in this country capable of refereeing a match involving Rangers.
  18. A voice of sanity amongst the hysteria. I wanted a victory, I didn't get one. I wanted a great performance, I didn't get one. I wanted a trophy after so many disappointments, I won't get one this time. So I congratulate Motherwell on their success and get on with life. One day it will be our turn. Until then I hope to retain some composure.
  19. Scotland has appalling health statistics because Scotland has too many really fucking stupid people. That’s all.
  20. It will never be enough simply to create an alternative competition. The problems stem from the deliberate concentration of money into the hands of a very few clubs in Europe and that money comes from selling TV rights across the world. So long as EUFA focusses its efforts on maximising TV revenues, it will continue to promote the Champions League to the exclusion of all else. You can set up as many other parallel competitions as you like but none of them will have access to any meaningful income stream. In fact, the more the elite clubs spend to maintain their places at the trough, the less room there will ever be for change. The Champions League is strangling the sport we love and alienating huge club fanbases all over Europe. My other objection is that the Champions League has simply become as boring as hell.
  21. I remember clearly wondering what life would be like without Celtic when it looked like they were broke and sinking fast in 1994. We went on to celebrate NIAR and won a whole cabinet full of trophies while a humiliated Celtic were rescued by Fergus McCann and slowly put their house in order. Less than 20 years later, we had buried ourselves in debt to satisfy Murray's ambition and eventually imploded in 2012. This catastrophic reversal of fortunes should never have happened, we all know that now, but the fact it did should teach us all that wishing misfortune on others can sometimes come back and bite you on the arse.
  22. The Champions League. An annual parade of a small group of elite clubs growing ever-fatter and ever-more-distant from the rest of football. These are supplemented by a few sacrificial makeweights like Celtic, who are allowed to keep their financial heads above water in return for making up the numbers and lending a morsel of credibility to UEFA's closed shop tournament. I hardly ever watch the Champions League manicured showpiece any more. It's drowning in hype and is the absolute antithesis of a fair and open competition. An organisation that bore any pretence at developing the game would ensure far less concentration of wealth among the elite clubs and much wider access and participation. Why do the "big" countries get so many CL entrants, why are there so few CL teams from the "lesser" leagues across Europe? UEFA is strangling football to create a marketable money tree. I despise it.
  23. It beats me why this is even an issue or why anyone could get interested enough to question it.
  24. Has anything emerged to prove one way or the other that Miller was the source of dressing room leaks? Or are we still in the land of conjecture?
  25. How is it even possible a horrible, slabbering, obese, alcoholic prick like Alan Brazil can have a media career?
