I like the pattern emerging of signing good players who feel they have something to prove.

We need a new focal point within the squad, a new captain.

I've had mixed feelings about this but on balance I have to agree with you. I think we're still one or two seasons away from being anything like prepared for the Champions League. Our Euro experiences this season were horrendous for everyone concerned with the club. Having said that, my ideal European campaign would be qualifying for the CL group stage, finishing 3rd and then dropping into the Europa League and winning it 😉

I can't think of many fans who've been dragged through more shit than the followers of Coventry City. For that reason alone I hope they make it today.

Ridvan’s crossing yesterday was still far better than our other fullback who seems to have rediscovered the knack of crossing to the first defender’s knees. Seriously, Tav’s crossing was little short of awful.

I think those figures only stand comparison because you put them beside even worse stats. If Sakala was half the player he should be, he would have had twice as many goals and assists. Seldom seen anyone make more bad decisions and miss more clearcut chances.

Agreed. We are going to start the season with a dressing room full of players who understand nothing about the club.

In the first half yesterday, Sakala turned in what must be a contender for the worst personal performance of the season. He was a little improved after half time but it's hard to see him as the answer to anything. However, he's one of those players who attracts emotional commitment from fans and will no doubt continue to be forgiven.

There's a lot of grave spinning going on these days.
