  1. That has happened at least once before. I'm sure he had to stop taking corner kicks for a while because he was unable to get the ball beyond the near post.
  2. It would have been rude to refuse the invitation
  3. I think it might be revealing and perhaps surprising if data was available that showed what proportion of Tavernier's crosses actually threatened the opposition goal.
  4. There's usually a price to pay for trying to arrange a team around the needs of one player. I've a feeling that's the situation at Liverpool and would be the case if we moved Tavernier into an attacking midfield role.
  5. I'm having difficulty seeing how that would have improved the result or our performance.
  6. I think Tav has rightly been showered in much praise for his forward play and his incredible goal tally. He's a hall of fame inductee and has won many POTY awards. So I don't think he's been unduly criticised. However, he's a defender and his defensive play had often been found wanting - that's almost universally accepted and it's the aspect of his game that fully justifies the criticism he has received. It time to move on.
  7. Who would you have had make way for Tillman?
  8. Does anyone think we would have been improved by having Tillman in the team yesterday?
  9. I don't think there's much to choose between them but being the second worst fullback isn't really much of a recommendation.
  10. Tav hasn’t been criticised for going forward. He’s been criticised for his defending when he’s back in defence.
  11. I often felt Jack and Lundstram struggled when matched up with the likes of Kamara but today the combination of Jack, Lundstram and Raskin seemed to squeeze the life out of Celtic, who couldn't find the space to create. Against a team who want to attack us this midfield played a huge part in the result - from the freedom of the front three to the clean sheet at the back.
  12. I wouldn’t mind Tav staying … as long as he’s not captain and he doesn’t play in defence.
  13. God I hope not. He’s one of our few players of genuine quality
  14. What I took from the game was ..... 1. Dropping McGregor and Morelos was the right decision but was made several months too late. 2. Ridvan Yilmaz is a far better option at LB than Borna Barisic 3. Jack, Lundstram and Raskin totally dominated midfield - Beale called this absolutely right 4. Todd Cantwell has quantum qualities that allow him to be simultaneously a defensive AND attacking midfielder 5. McRorie could be our first choice keeper for years to come. 6. Matondo doesn't have what it takes 7. Iannis Hagi probably should have started. Albeit the game was won when he came on, he absolutely sparkled.
  15. Happy McGregor & Morelos are out. But Tamundo and Sakala …. Really?
  16. In that case I hope he sends a couple of them to hospital.
  17. Those aren't actually mushrooms you know.
  18. I wouldn't go there either. We did well enough out of him right enough but there were also many games when it was hard to know if he was on the pitch or not. I'm not hugely surprised at what's happened to him at Southampton.
  19. I could go with Lundstram too but Jack is simply the better player so if he's available he should always be first choice, especially in a deeper role where passing and not being rushed in possession is vital. Further forward, we've been plagued by lone forwards being isolated and starved of opportunities, reducing us effectively to ten men, so I'd prefer to see us cut out some of the long crosses and focus more on dominating space through the middle and fullbacks focussing on defensive duties against a team that won't come to Ibrox to sit in.
  20. I would be mortified to see that team take the field and hugely disappointed if McGregor and Morelos feature at all. I would start with Jack sitting deeper, behind, Raskin, Cantwell and Arfield with Wright and Hagi further forward. It's a pity we don't have an out-and-out striker available but a disinterested and isolated Morelos won't achieve anything. We need to focus on retaining better possession than we've done recently.
  21. If we want to achieve anything he will still need to be our manager this time next season. The summer might start a rebuild but it sure as hell won’t finish it.
  22. Yes, they're either scoring a barrowload or missing sitter after sitter. Still, at least one of our teams is still competing for trophies in May.
  23. Rangers 1 Celtic 1 FGS - Goldson
