If Allan McGregor had retired at the end of last season he would have left with his impressive legacy intact. Now he’s widely and rightly considered a liability. It’s such a pity but he should never play another game for Rangers.

You cannot simply ignore the fact that Tav is our long-standing captain and therefore has a disproportionate influence on the rest of the squad. As long as he remain in that capacity, the message to everyone else is “more of the same”.

The clear implication is that Tav is part of our weakness and replacing him, particularly as captain is part of the solution.

Everyone wants success but many are afraid to do what it will take to achieve it.

Keeping Tav as captain will be like dragging an anchor attached to past failures. You can’t change without changing. It’s time to move on. No one leaves as big a hole as you think they will.

There can be no restart until Tav is gone or at least no longer captain.

I can't ever remember seeing the number of votes cast in these Club1872 polls being revealed. I don't know how many they have who are eligible to vote but it looks like all of 61 voted yes and 14 voted no.

The thing about Tillman is that, while he's undoubtedly technically talented and creative, I don't think he's committed to delivering the level of graft we need in this league. Which is why he usually only shines against poorer opposition and is unlikely to relish another season in Scottish football. £5m or anything like it would be a ridiculous use of scarce resources at a time when we need such a big squad restructuring.

I imagine our dressing room isn’t the happiest at the moment. We desperately need a big reset.
