Over on kerrydale st one of them offered the opinion that Rangers were now looking a real threat and that they might lose at Ibrox. He was quickly tarred and feathered for introducing some reality to their bubble.

BBC Sport confirm another quickfire Rangers signing is imminent

Glasgow Rangers are set to complete the signing of midfielder Greg Docherty from fellow Scottish outfit Hamilton Accies, according to the BBC Sport.

A deal between the two sides was agreed on Wednesday evening and having agreed personal terms with the Gers, it is just the medical that stands in the way of the 21-year-old becoming Graeme Murty’s fifth January signing.

Docherty’s imminent arrival at the Ibrox Stadium was confirmed by Hamilton chairman Ronnie MacDonald, who praised the way Rangers went about signing the midfielder.

“Greg is now in the hands of Rangers,” he is quoted as saying by the BBC.

“The financial agreement has been signed by both clubs, so it’s up to Rangers to contact him and arrange a medical. Rangers have acted really well on this. The finishing line has been far away at times, but we got there.”

The highly-rated Scotland Under-21 international has enjoyed a fine season in the middle of the park for the Accies, making 21 league appearances for Martin Canning’s side, finding the back of the net on three occasions and racking up a further six assists.

Rangers boss Murty has spoken of his delight at the prospect of working with the 21-year-old and believes that he will add quality to his side’s midfield.

“It’s another bit of business for another young hungry player desperate to enhance our group,” the 43-year-old told Sky Sports.

“When you see the players gelling and the improvements we’ve made, it’s an exciting time for players – and for me as a manager. I want to manage people who are hungry to improve.”

Docherty’s imminent arrival will bolster Rangers’ midfield options significantly, with Murty already having a host of options in the centre of the park.

However, with Ryan Jack ruled out of the remainder of the season through injury, the young signing could well find himself challenging for an immediate first-team place.

Rangers have looked to sign British players this month and have already landed Russell Martin, Sean Goss, Jason Cummings and Jamie Murphy during the mid-season window.

Murty’s men will hope to close the gap on Celtic and will next face a clash against Ross County this weekend.

Rangers picked up an important three points on Wednesday night, beating rivals Aberdeen 2-0 at the Ibrox, a result that saw them move above the Dons in the league table on goal difference, into second place.

Weren't we told by certain media people that we had bids rejected and thrown out and them being derisory and all?

I have high hopes for Docherty.  Nice words from Canning there too, which is admirable given what we're usually subjected to these days.

Was this a Murty signing or an Allen signing...maybe both?
