[FT] Rangers 2 (Tavernier 6pen; Dessers 15) - 1 Servette

It's simple, if that lot keep qualifying for the CL and we keep qualifying for the EL, they'll be winning the league until the cows come home.

I'll take an occasional spanking in Europe if it means we can start winning the league regularly again.

I understand the money angle of CL v EL, or ECL but we are just not geared for CL.

Plus I loved that when we were in the EL there was always that..."We can take these guys" feeling in the air.

I just don't get that feeling in CL.

Not because of the ass whippins we took...but it's just like...not enough horse power.

Like takin your stock Stang to the drag strip and lining up against a cammed Vette...just gonna get walked.

Agreed, except with the last line.   I have no idea what it means.  Guessing Mustang and Corvette but as for what the rest of it means?

What crystal ball are you drinking from?

How do you know we are not geared up for the CL?

We have a new (better!) manager and coaching staff and (I'm going with a conservative estimate here) SEVEN new first team starters since our last CL outing:  Raskin, Cantwell, Dowell already in, plus I estimate at least 4 new signings that I believe will be upgrades on what we had . It won't be easy to get there, and if we do, I doubt we'll be favourites to emerge from the group or parachute to the EL, but we'll have a hell of a better chance than last season.

No. We should always be striving for CL level or what's the point?

Not sure it's that simple. IMO the spanking we took in Europe this season hugely impacted our domestic season. We went from a team that were competing in a UEFA final to a team that looked miles off the pace in the space of 3/4 months.

Goldson's injury had more impact than the beatings.

Not to mention Souttar, Yilmaz, Hagi and Lawrence all added to what we had available in the CL this season.
