  1. Really pleased with that result last night. First and foremost, qualification emphasised but, perhaps more importantly it was a performance of control and confidence. Yes, we gave the ball away a bit too often at times but we kept at it and didn't stop trying to play out. Corner kicks aside, defensively we were fairly sound and I was happy to see Goldson and Barisic improve their recent form further. In midfield Kamara was excellent in the first half (hopefully not injured) and Lundstram showed he's more than capable of playing in this team. Elsewhere, Kent was unplayable at times and it speaks volumes they had to bring on Dubois to try and nullify him. Other cameos from Wright, Aribo and Bacuna all had their plus points - even if no focal point didn't help us in an attacking sense later on in game. All in all, a few flaws aside, it was the kind of composed Euro away performance we got used to under Gerrard so it's pleasing to see this return after two less positive displays in Prague and Copenhagen earlier in the group. Let's hope we carry this momentum through the rest of December.

  5. I went for Lundstam and was surprised that our ex employee McCoist only gave him 5 out of 10 maybe that's why he's not a manager

  6. I'd say Goldson as well. Some of his longer range passing was excellent and he had his best defensive performance of the season so far I would say. GVB seems to have brought him back to form.

  7. Hope this puts to bed the whole Tavernier debate. Paterson is the future but the idea that he will just fit in as he is the finished article was dispelled tonight IMO. Some really good stuff from the young man but also some naive play at times.

  8. We can't compete with the wages in England's top flight wrre the average pay packet is around £65,000 a week we need to bring in lads turn them into promising prospects and sell them for a whopping profit

  9. Young player who showed potential but progress has stalled. Worth a loan to buy type deal like Hagi IMO.

  10. I was tempted to vote for McLaughlin, who didn't put a foot wrong when continually presented with passbacks under some pressure. I thought he was assured and calm throughout. But I went for Goldson, who seems transformed under GvB.

  11. Still annoys me that we are referred to as 'Glasgow Rangers' when Celtic are not 'Glasgow Celtic.' And why not 'Juventus Turin'?

  12. I went for Barisic, mainly due to his improved level of performance. Last night he looked back to his (defensive) best. Lundstram and Goldson played well too.

  13. Connor Goldson for me. Solid. Borna should have done better to stop the cross for the own goal IMO. Harsh? Maybe. But it is what it is.

  14. I thought Goldson and Bassey had great games, but it was a great team performance.

  16. A very decent team performance littered for decent individual performances. So went for Kamara just ahead of Lundstram.

  17. A good few players had fine games but, one or two misplaced passes aside, I thought Connor Goldson was excellent.

  22. I don't like to get too reliant on individuals because of the league we're in. The job is to ensure we either have good back up players or future signings lined up to replace the likes of Aribo and Kamara. I think there will be bids for Aribo fairly soon and just hope we can hold on to him until the Summer.

  23. Agreed. Apologies for bringing it to the fore again. Just feel we are too quick to almost write players off these days.

  24. All in all, that's a good point in what finished a very open game. Yes, it might not quite have been played with the intensity of a 'competitive' match but it's another positive step in Gio's first fortnight in charge. Back to Edinburgh on Sunday to keep the momentum going.

  27. Goldson has had a poor season by his standards but, if and when he does go, he'll certainly leave with my thanks as his commitment has been incredible over his time here. We just need to time outgoing transfers well but it's difficult to know when to sell or take the risk or under-motivated players or new players who may take time to settle. It's all pretty much a gamble....

  28. one of the rightbacks is the obvious choice to sell. Barasic, Morelos could be absorbed too. TBH no one is so good we couldn't survive them going.

  29. Sort of but if it were a conglomerate there would be a lot of winding up, merging and demerging to allow the main actors to flourish. But you can’t do that with football so,no, in Scotland it’s not a strong product as confirmed by the market.
