  1. For clarity, I am all for freedom of expression too - just because I don't like what you say doesnt mean you shouldnt be able to say it. My point, in the main, was that it appears to me that they were being disingenuous by highlighting the Ross Wilson flag, in essence they were suggesting that the banner ban was because the club didnt like the anti-club (Wilson) banner, but didnt tell the whole story. It could be that it was confiscated, sure - but then they could also have just told that part of the story. But their statement really just showed the Wilson banner and left it to people to conclude themselves. The UB, AND the Club, have been economical with the truth in this instance IMHO. And for some reason I am completely unsurprised as we seem to continually lurch from one issue to another without any real direction, guidance, collaboration or united front. All rather depressing

  2. The ACAB/pig banners are fairly timid civil disobedience stuff so whilst I'm not entirely surprised by Polis Alba and the club's reaction to it, it's all a bit petty. In terms of the specific targeting of Ross Wilson, I'm not sure of the point of that. Yes, his performance (as with many others) is certainly questionable and definitely worthy of examination and criticism where necessary but I'm personally unconvinced we're at the stage of protest banners over his position. Not so much that I disagree with direct messages being displayed per se just that to garner support then the message has to be qualified to make it worthwhile. To run it alongside police complaints is rather counter productive.

  3. It's ridiculous still playing international football when his club appearances are being rationed.

  4. I know what you mean. There were a couple of seasons, around 20 years ago, where I attended Ibrox only a handful of times but only missed a couple of away matches.

  5. Disagree about away grounds. The Rangers away support was terrific throughout the 90s and 00s (presumably before that too).

  6. Which I'm OK with. They'll never be everyone's cup of tea and they've made some errors of judgement but Ibrox, and away grounds, are poorer without them. The wider Rangers support have shown their "dislike" for the UBs and again, that's their perogative. However, the board have made errors of judgement and this latest one may result in growing support for the UBs. This board respond to criticism the same way Sir Moonbeams did, but cracking down on it and those responsible for it. I'll continue to support UBs and any other "fan group" who attempt to improve the match day experience.

  7. I thought Ben Davies had a gg, mopped up well and won a few tackles, passing was fine from what I remember. Seems to be a decent sweeper next to Goldson even if he hasn't got a lot of pace, which is probably a good sign to be fair.

  8. I admit I have mixed feelings about self-styled heroes like UBs and TBO. It seems to me they get a hell of a lot of attention for such a vanishingly small number of people ... but maybe that's the point of them. Nothing they do couldn't be done equally well without creating these look-at-me brands. On the other hand I detest unreasonable attempts to curb people's freedom of expression. Why shouldn't these fans raise a banner if they want, whatever is printed on it and whoever is criticised. Why are the board of RFC and the police being such sensitive shrinking violets? You don't have to like these fan groups to appreciate the importance of them being able to protest if they want to.

  9. Whilst I agree I would like to think Arfield will have a part to play (maybe off the bench). He has a habit of scoring important goals and always finds time / space in the attacking 3rd. Given we'll more than likely have to score 2 or 3 goals to win the game, Alfie will also play a part.

  10. Kids that end up going pro end up playing football for years and years, I knew many good players growing up who lost interest. Perhaps Making it more about enjoyment is a way to increase engagement over time.

  11. Remember the old days when there was constant hubbub rising into wild cheers and falling into despairing groans and songs were sung instead of yapped? I don’t hold with this Continental chanting.

  12. I am not a fan of players who need game time managed taking on extra games outside of main employer. Almost 1 year ago Jack did the same thing, played 80 odd mins of some god awful friendly away against Belarus or similar backwater, then had poor game v them when we got beat at Ibrox a few days later.

  13. As I said TIFO's are great but other banners not eye pleasing. Not being a favourite of what they call music on radio etc. nowadays there is little chance of accepting the "new songs/chants" at the games. Having attended games since the 62/63 season and been through many changes in songs/chants through the years suppose the current stuff just has to be put up with, even tribal chanting.

  14. Cantwell for me. Agree Frankie, would like him to play further forward. Beale likes Tillman as an 8 so Cantwell may move up the park when he comes back. I also prefer Tillman further forward tbh.

  15. I agree, but at least they are attempting to improve the match day experience (in their eyes anyway). I don't think any Rangers fan would decry their (and TBO before them) giant TIFO displays. I'm sure they'd welcome new members who'll bring new ideas etc. As for the drum, not sure if it's an upgrade on the wee brass band that sat behind TBO - now they were irritating......

  16. Ah well it could be the end of his season and Gers contract as he will no doubt come back injured.

  17. The draw I wanted to be honest. Problem I had with the LC Final was that we set out to contain them and got beat wondering what if with the selection and tactics. Hopefully we go at them and stop being so passive. Few more weeks with Raskin and Cantwell playing together, minutes for Ridvan and a few goals for Colak and I'll be quietly confident, which is exhausting with this Rangers side.
