  1. Hounding them out when there's no one ready to step in would be catastrophic.

  2. Best decision that's ever been made. Ever.

  3. Yeah, I haven't heard one sensible alternative. They may have made some bad decisions, but most were made with the best of intentions, and they've continued to fund the club. If people think things are bad now, how much worse would we be if they walked away taking their £20m support with them?

  5. If I was a betting man, and I'm not, I might put a small sum on a new CEO being unveiled shortly before the agm. Something that removes some of the sting that might be coming the directors way feels like a smart move to me. It stretches credulity to think that we're not actively searching for a new CEO. We can, and should, criticise the board, but they're not idiots. I doubt when that person is announced it will satisfy all the support, but that's where we are just now. I'm really not sure I'd be recommending the board make some kind of holding statement though, it'll just push this back to the top of the agenda, and currently Clement is acting as a lightening rod for the board, can't see them looking to change that in a hurry.

  6. Given the last potential CEO allegedly backed out due to his family getting unwarranted attention, it may be that they've decided to not say anything until the guy is in place. Obviously they could make a holding announcement but that could cause more problems than it solves, depending in the progress that they're making.

  7. I don't want them gone / hounded out. I want them to realise they need to get people in place who can run a football club.

  8. The issues weren't under Souness or Smith (either time). The spending under Advocaat was crazy and that's when the problems arose and it was around this time that Murray got creative with tax as well.

  10. Your not interested in watching the sexy football that Scotland play 0_0 against 10 men Croatia I suppose that's as good as it gets

  13. Surely Bocanegra is more suited to Director of Football than CEO? What role did he have at Atlanta?
    1 point
  14. I think Blank sacking Bocanegra makes this unlikely, not that I'd be against both happening. Regarding Clement being the boards lightening rod, probably part and parcel of his new contract. Appointing a CEO and / chairperson and throwing them straight into the AGM is unfair, so yes, it'll probably happen 😀

  17. As it's the international break, I thought this would be better here. BMCK was back for a spell last year, iirc. We spoke about Dostoevsky. I felt inferior.

  18. He'll have to play musically chairs by himself and wear multiple hats. Hopefully he's been investigated the average temperatures of the pies as he's sure to be asked about them.

  20. So, from a common sense perspective, it might be best for the board to keep things under wraps until someone is officially appointed.

  21. SDM can be blamed for a lot of things, but he can't be blamed for the current boards continued gross mismanagement. Once we accept that the current board continues to spend more than we earn we'll see where the problem lies. As well as the money they and King have loaned us, they've squandered CL money, EL money, £50M in transfer fees (Patterson, Bassey, Aribo, Sakala and Kamara), year on year recored ST sales / income, over inflated Euopean tickets and substantial merchandise / retail growth. As well as financial mismanagement, we have ; NEH - overbudget, under utilised. Copland Upgrade - not completed on time, had to rent Hampden and a public ridiculing. Vacant Roles - still unable (or unwilling) to fill 4 critically important roles within the club. Recruitment - aligned to the above, continued recruitment of the wrong people. Now, if you believe the board don't need "hounded" regarding all of the above and it's somehow SDM and the fans fault, then there is little hope for us. As it stands, as long as the bowling club committee are in charge (i.e making the day to day decisions), we are heading for oblivion.

  22. Clement talked of a meeting with the full board, in June. According to him, those at the table said, that if financial issues weren't properly addressed that the situation could become existential. Think about that. This was a meeting with those who are financing the club. Since then, we had a terrible summer transfer window where we could only bring in 810K for 5 permanent and 4 loan deals. Spend was over 13M and we still have to get the Barron fee confirmed. That shortfall will be for the next set of accounts in a years time.

  24. Ask John Bennett's wife about deserving to be hounded out and the effects. Ask other financial backers and major shareholders who have and are keeping the lights on, how they feel about the situation. Ask yourself what happens if you hound out those keeping the club solvent. Tell us how you hound major shareholders out. Tell us what the alternative is. ______________ Fans do have to take some of the responsibility but that is for a separate post.

  25. People think we were well run in the late 80s early 90s but we were lashing out money back then we couldn’t really afford Souness must have laid out plenty and Smith must have paid plenty in his first term I doubt if we’ve ever really recovered since those days when we bought some very good but expensive players.

  26. Nothing I can do - the voice we have is pay up and shut up or stop paying up. Given I've already paid for my ST and EL tickets the don't pay option isn't on the table until next season. However, sitting back and accepting a decade of gross mismanagement hasn't gone well has it? So we're all for sitting back and hoping against all hope that the board who've squandered for decades suddenly get it right.

  27. We could try treating the men whose loans have kept the club afloat with a bit of respect, whilst tempering expectations but also not accepting how badly the team are performing. Neither 'sack the board' or 'accept mediocrity' are of much use to Rangers just now. We have problems at every level but the board can't release a statement about every part of the recruitment process, Clement needs to learn to adapt and compete better and we need another transfer window or two to rid ourselves of dross like Dessers and Lawrence.

  28. Maybe a reason,.....is that the remit isn't very attractive. - impose real Austerity now - win everything immediately And if you don't you'll have an expectant and impatient support hounding you out.

  29. I was watching the darts but reading the live text, had no idea it was on telly though. Imagine the difference in our team right now with Ferguson and Mendes in the midfield at the peak of their powers with Novo on the right. (awaiting Gonzo to bring up time machines dont exist 😃). Just a different level.

  33. SteveCo Talks Sevco! The PQ Gang Hut began to assemble the firing squad a month past. After Rangers defeats at both Pittodrie and Rugby Park, the firing squad were ordered to load, make ready and fire. Obviously, the target was Rangers Gaffer, Philippe Clement and the national broadcaster justified their actions by citing Rangers supporters demands. The Belgian remains bound to the post but continues to breathe. The club Board have so far failed to deliver the inevitable for probably three reasons : 1. Clement has taken the club to their third successive national cup final. 2. Clement has guided the club to successive promising performances in the Europa League. 3. Clement achieved the provided brief ie moved players on, cut the wage bill substantially and, was rewarded with an improved contract. Impatience within the PQ Gang Hut is being tempered by concurrent activity. Anticipation levels are rising as the saliva runs down the chops of ra Sellik state of mind collective. Right across the national broadcaster's outlets - Sportsound, Sportscene, the View from the Terrace, Off the Ball, ........ etc; they have all sniggered whilst warning of an upcoming humiliation for Rangers in the League Cup final against Sellik. Rangers are funny and getting funnier reinforced by Craig Fowler's coup de main, "Rangers are hilarious". The laughing stocks are our confinement and the Gang Hut both encourages and rewards the continuous pelting of rotten fruit. Constant exposure is guaranteed if you chorus the issued narrative. Rangers supporters are stupid for accepting the situation and deserve ridicule. Providing regular supposed imagery is supplied because marginalisation makes it easier to hate. Step up to the microphone former Chair of Dundee United, Stephen Thompson. On Saturday, Tam Cowan introduced Uncle Fester and told us he would present an insight into the events of 2012. Ray Bradshaw wondered aloud as to why Stephen was blamed for Rangers demise? The chortle fest ran for two hours : Stephen told of his 'successful' ten year tenure at the Tayside club where integrity was the guiding force. Stephen told of being persuaded by his club's supporters to condemn Rangers to the fourth tier. Apparently they refused to purchase season tickets unless Dundee United voted us out. Stephen sided with sporting integrity. Stephen reminded us he served for five years on the SPL management Committee. Stephen wanted to ensure adherence to sporting integrity. Stephen reminded us he refused to enter the Ibrox Board room at the 2014 Scottish Cup semi-final, preferring to sit with his fellow fans because he felt threatened. Stephen maintained his integrity. Stephen told of a continuing threats and a wariness of west coast accents. He illustrated this by a recent visit to northern England where he was accosted and relieved when his questioner revealed he was a Yahoo, the meeting culminated with fist pumps. The entire bar applauded the displayed integrity. Stephen told of charging Rangers supporters again for a postponed game but not levelling the charge to his own supporters. Their is a real cost to sporting integrity and Rangers fans must pay it. Oh, and Stephen revealed he declared himself bankrupt recently. Now, is Stephen Thompson still Stephen Thompson? He wants to get back into the game and noted Rangers are looking for a Chief Executive. Is he a separate entity? Can Sevco employ SteveCo? Do we need to host a series of Sell Out Saturday events to raise the funds to provide protection to SteveCo? Is there any integrity to be found in these supposed episodes or is it just another PQ Gang Hut sponsored sniggerfest? Of course, PQ omitted the full integrity presentation because the facts are inconvenient to the pushed narrative : Stephen was launched from the family home by his then wife because of constant extramarital affairs. Stephen was hauled into court by one former mistress because he refused to pay maintenance for their child. Stephen was blackmailed by a teenage girl whom he met on a Sugar Daddy website. Stephen employed Jum Spence as his personal PRO. I suggest Stephen forms a double act with another Rangers hating bankrupt, Chris Sutton will bring some integrity to SteveCo and help secure the position of succeeding hosts to RAB Cosgrove and Tam Cowan.
