Rangers manager Philippe Clement hailed the signing as a significant boost to the club’s defensive ranks ahead of a crucial season. Suggests the accuracy of that story...4 points

Ferguson is picking the team based on what's best for Ferguson and not what's best for the club in the medium term. It shouldn't matter if Lawrence is doing better in training. He's gone soon and not part of next season. Cortes will still be our player and desperately needs game time. Ferguson wants the win so it looks good on his CV/record, rather than thinking about the club for next season.4 points

The word obligation seems to confuse people. We've bought him, the payment was deferred (finance reasons). I wouldn't read too much into Ferguson's decisions. I'm hoping with a full pre-season and a new manager, the player will come good.4 points

Interesting way many look at players values in this thread and many others. Using Cortes as an example of a waste of millions. 4 million fee, 5 year deal at 12k p/w (Illustrative costs, may not be accurate) = £7,120,000 over the duration. Now, lets look at Matondo. 2.5 million fee, 4 years at 28k p/w (Illustrative costs, may not be accurate) = £8,324,000 over the duration. Is it as bad as you first thought? Also take into account the boy is 21, not 22 until December. He could have a decent 6 months and we could easily sell at a profit. Yes it could go the other way too but life is full of risks.3 points

The all round midfielder Raskin again. Sublime pass for the first, Sublime skill for the second. BTW Im glad these MOTM threads has remained MOTM and not POTM. Its slightly annoying watching live matches and the commentator asking the Co-Comms who is your player of the match.3 points

I've done further investigation. In 2020 their holding in Iconix fell from 6.4% to 4.8%. They still have under 5% in their 2024, if they retain any holding. It's not material for them to disclose in their accounts. I doubt SD have much of any influence over Iconix.2 points

Nor should you. It's interesting though because the description itself is all over the place. The information we get back from these tools is, in many cases, just a load of rubbish.2 points

What we got is what we deserved for sacking a manager without a replacement. The Barry & co thing has been a shambles. We bit our nose off to spite our face.2 points

'Rangers manager Philippe Clement hailed the signing as a significant boost to the club’s defensive ranks ahead of a crucial season.' 'Rangers’ move for Annan comes as part of a broader strategy to rejuvenate their squad with young, versatile talents capable of making an immediate impact and developing further under Clement’s guidance. With Borna Barišić expected to depart this summer, Annan’s arrival provides a timely reinforcement on the left flank.'2 points

Regardless the reason the Forest owner came on the pitch for, its totally wrong and undermines the manager who has taken them from relegation to Europe. As good as it would be to have seen Forest top 5 they would probably get thumped every week and going into the Europa or Conference would be perfect for them. The next round of fixtures is make or break, Villa and Chelsea will be playing Tottenham and Man Utd reserves. Having the FA Cup Final and Europa Cup final before the last games of the season gives certain teams advantages. It could be a dream last 2 games for Aston Villa. Playing Spurs before the Europa Final and then Man Utd after it (if Man Utd win the Europa they wont care about the last game). Newcastle can beat Arsenal next week and go second!2 points

The manager misjudged his substitutions and an injury left Forest to play the final minutes with ten men or ten players as a sensitive Sky Sports prefers to say. The bloke didn’t look like an owner, more like a kebab seller. If he gives Nuno Espírito Santo his jotters would he be on the long leet for Rangers? Holy Spirit at Ibrox? There are times this season when he I would have been glad of any spirit at all.2 points

I think I can understand why you say that but at least we know that Cerny is productive in Scotland. Could you get better for a similar financial package, yes.... but you'd essentially be rolling the dice and might as has so often happened, get it wrong.2 points

You may shoot the messenger, but I have damage reduction ... Several names have been linked with being Rangers’ next manager, with Real Madrid assistant coach Davide Ancelotti the latest to emerge as being in the running. Sky Sports Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported via his website on Sunday (11 May) that the Light Blues are now pushing to hire the 35-year-old as their new manager. It is understood that Serie A club Como are also keen on hiring Carlo Ancelotti’s son with Bayer Leverkusen eyeing up Cesc Fabregas as a replacement for Xabi Alonso. Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport also reported on 11 May (page 24) that an offer has actually been made to Davide Ancelotti to be the new Rangers manager. Ancelotti is obviously a rookie when it comes to management. However, he just happens to be the son of one of the greatest football managers of all time and has worked closely alongside him at Bayern Munich, Napoli, Everton and Real Madrid. Some might talk about nepotism, but Ancelotti’s CV isn’t one to scoff at, with the Parma-born former AC Milan midfielder receiving his UEFA A License, finishing top of his class, in 2016 when he was only 26 years old. In 2023, he received his UEFA Pro License in Wales and a year later, he was dubbed as Carlo Ancelotti’s “secret weapon” by BBC Sport columnist Mina Rzouki, who credited Davide with masterminding Real Madrid’s Champions League semi-final win over Bayern Munich. https://www.ibroxnews.com/2025/05/12/49ers-and-cavenagh-about-to-blow-rangers-fans-minds-after-sky-sports-update/1 point

Good to have Umbro shirts again, albeit it's stiil Castore making them. It's a shame the 'zero mission' bit is compulsory (thank our caring politicians).1 point

I don’t like it either but my distaste is at a level very much lower than usual for the infant girls’ blouses passed off as football shirts. And it’s shirts or jerseys not tops. That’s women's garb. Who ever gave his all for the top or even sold it?1 point

The sheep thing never really made any sense tbh, I could see it levelled at St Johnstone or the likes, but Aberdeen is hardly rural. Quite the opposite, it's a big grey death zone.1 point

It would be a good start if he could have a run of 5 games to assess him! But seems to have glass legs.1 point

Looks like we are going to have another full house in picking Raskin, he has created more assists/goals since Barry has came into the team, I believe he has had 6 assists?1 point

I think Raskin would rather stay for another few sessions giving what Rangers could potentially offer him in terms of game time and European football, plus he would certainly be in contention for the captaincy if James Taviner decides to leave, sure there are interests who would pay a premium price but can we afford to let him go and find a replacement for him, I don’t think we could regardless of the investment we have coming in, as the Belgium head coach said Raskin is equally as good if not better than Tellimans or the other one at Chelsea. Keep him at all costs in my opinion.1 point
