These are my feelings as well. It's great if the club are able to defer season ticket renewals (shows that they read Gersnet ) and that they're using the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme. However I'm underwhelmed at the wage deferral. As TB says, it's hardly a sacrifice and they're not really worse off. If I was asked to take a 50% wage deferral for 3 months or a 10% wage cut for 3 months, I'd jump at the deferral.

Well, Cormack had just got quite salty on the matter, I suspect it has been parked but Peter had fail failed to brief Dave on that matter. When will someone at PQ ask about Safety Certificates for two stands at Pittodrie and suggest further revenue should be utilised to bring the dung heap, up to date? Tom English and Pat Bonner joined Big Dick and Wullie, Tom settled the expectant audience immediately, "ah spoke to Peter yesterday". Tom is quite important. Alan Preston spoke but he is a member of the Foundation of Hearts, and the Jambos are no longer considered a 'model club'; so Big Dick introduced Derek McInnes. Surprisingly, Derek agreed with Cormack, and soothing noises chorused in the background. Derek went further, "Celtic should be awarded the title, only Rangers supporters would argue". Barry Ferguson was next up, and he agreed with Derek, who agreed with Cormack, who had been Petered, and Tom oversaw that everyone was in a state of Holicom compliance. Today's Beeb website has former Compliance Officer, Anthony McGlennan bravely scolding UEFA and demanding ra Sellik be awarded the title. Apparently, Tony is a Lawyer and knows stuff, although I suspect the fact he is a current Sellik season ticket holder trumps all else. On Saturday last, he eulogised Beeb Scotland for showing the entire 1991 Scottish Cup final between Motherwell and Dundee United; however, this Sunday's fare of the 2002 final deflated him, "tomorrow evening's offering is the 2002 final which doesn't particularly excite me". Good to see Big Dick continues to flash his Rangers hating credentials. I vote Big Dick to be FC Holicom's goal keeper, plenty of competition for places. I should add a note of caution, we have seen it all before and know how it ends. How long before FC Holicom becomes a separate entity?

I concur, whilst any measure that helps the club through this period is welcome, I get the impression that the deferral has been received by some as some sort of selfless altruistic gesture by the high earners, as you say it is nothing like that. I wouldn't presume to suggest what anyone should do regarding their financial affairs, but I do try to look at things realistically and a wage deferral for those that can afford to survive few months sitting on their bums watching netflix warrants no round of applause from me, it's what I would expect in these extraordinary times, nothing more.

50% wage deferrals, so they are not dropping a single penny in wages, they will make it up at a later date. Yes it helps cash flow in the short term, but I really don’t see this as much of a sacrifice from very rich and well paid people. A 30% wage cut until this is over and full time training can restart would have been much better for our club in the bigger picture as it would actually reduce our biggest overhead significantly at a time where we have nothing coming in. All the deferral does is add to our debt. Good to see we will be using the furlough system as well and topping it up to full pay for our support staff throughout the club. We are not in a position like a lot of the clubs elsewhere that can afford not to use this.

If there is we may very well see the veracity of the so-called "15,000 ST waiting list" as many ST Holders will have to make difficult financial decision and their ST may be one of the things that have to be culled.

A lot of people outside of the public sector are having to take pay reductions, but players in general seem to believe that they are above doing that. Why should they? To help fund the shortfall in income that the club are suffering. Some of that shortfall is money that it's extremely unlikely the club will ever see. What have bankers got to do with Rangers? There's at least one bank where the CEO is waiving his salary and senior managers are taking a 25% pay cut, but it's not relevant to us. The players are lucky that they are in the position that it's extremely unlikely that they will be made redundant as they are financial assets and can be sold by the club and therefore they are in a position of power, hence their refusal to take cuts. The wage deferral is certainly better than nothing but the club will be missing income when it comes to them being reimbursed in July, which will presumably be funded out of next year's season ticket cash rather than the cash being used for next season. It's good that the club are reducing costs by placing staff on furlough and it's reasonably good that the players are deferring part of their salaries, which does help the supporters if it does delay the renewals as you suggested. However, ultimately it's at no real cost to themselves so any praise due is limited.

Sorry bud, I wasn’t getting at you, despite the quote. Was more the observation that people think it’s an altruistic gesture. I agree with you on that part, was just quoting you to get the point across that many will see “deferral” as “reduction”.

Exclude Rangers players and those like Denis Law and Billy Liddell who didn’t play in the Scottish League. Brown (Dundee) McKimmie, Miller (both Aberdeen) Martis (Motherwell) Bobby Cox (Dundee) Cumming, Young, McKay (All Hearts) Smith, Reilly (both Hibernian) Ring (Clyde) John Cumming is the captain and I’ve given myself some licence because the midfield three never played as such. No celts. If I’m honest Danny McGrain should have got in. Murdoch would be considered for the reserves and I’ve just remembered Dalglish.

It would be far more interesting whether he could give us the regulations of the SPFL and / or SFA that factually allows the SPFL to hand a title or force releation to/on teams without completing the full programme of league fixtures. That "sporting merit" argument. Likewise, it would be good to know whether any such an "option" is being agreed upon ... and by whom. And who actually has the power decide and ratify it. Opinions are fine, facts and rules would be better for any arument or debate.

I'd like to think players are rich enough to accept a short-term pay cut rather than a deferral but if my work asked me to do same I'd be less than happy so why should I expect the players to be happy with a pay cut? At the end of the day, money is money and contracts are contracts. I wish I was earning as much as our players but then again, I'm glad I'm not taxed as much as them also. It's also well worth noting the deferral may well just be step one of moving towards a cut if the pandemic continues further into the year.

You wanted this to happen last week mate I get folk saying about taking cuts etc but why should they? Just because they earn more? What about the bankers etc Players offered this and it secures all jobs and wages at 100% I didn’t want the furlough scheme being used tbf but I think this is decent compromise?

If they had agreed a wage cut, it would/should only be for such times as they are not able to work. As soon as they are back in full group training/playing they would go back to their full contract value. The players should be taking a hefty wage CUT for the duration of the period where they are unable to go to their work. A deferment is nowhere near good enough IMO. If it turned out that the club was not badly affected financially by this lockdown, i.e. we continue with the 19-20 season and fulfil our fixtures, then the players would get their wage cut back. But if the club is harmed financially by this lockdown and fixtures are not fulfilled, leading to reduced income streams, then the players should not be paid their full contract value, otherwise the club takes the full hit (when we know we cant afford it) and the players have contributed nothing to our predicament. I for one would not be very forgiving of them.
