No-one is asking you to fawn over it MF - but credit where credit is due. Have you always been perfect with everything you have done and got things right first time ? The results are not meaningless at all - they just aren't as meaningful as they could be - but then that could be semantics on my part. I agree that it is important to point out that the survey is not representative of the support as a whole - but in that case every single online survey regarding the club we could say the same as the majority of fans are not online fans, correct ? I was probably a bit OTT in my response to you, apologies for that - you make valid points for sure - I just felt that you focussed on the negative aspect of the survey. I get the feeling that the results of the survey are not necessarily final (as can be seen from the fact there are another 50 responses through RM). The problem though is getting members of the more popular websites to also participate - and we know some individuals involved have an agenda which means they dont want these probing type surveys to be completed. -

Why dont you give it a shot then ? Or can you not be bothered either ? Frankie did this with the best of intentions yet rather than giving him credit for actually attempting to get some feedback you would prefer to castigate it as being worthless. In case you hadn't noticed, Frankie has responses from RM which he stated and those will be added to the responses from gersnet and there is no saying he wont roll it out to the other more popular sites to run with it too. I think you are being very harsh on someone for trying to do something positive, regardless of the results. -
Any word of a fee being involved?

All the best Darche - you will need it playing beside Sebo !

JEAN CLAUDE DARCHEVILLE admits he'll always be a Rangers fan after he agreed to leave the club and sign a deal with Valenciennes. The striker has ended his time at Ibrox and will return to France on January 1, where he'll team up with former Light Blues hitman Filip Sebo at the Ligue 1 outfit. Darcheville, 33, enjoyed a productive first season in Glasgow as he notched 15 goals in all competitions, including a Hampden winner against Hearts that sent Rangers to the League Cup final. His penalty against Stuttgart in the opening Champions League group stage fixture earned his side three European points before a late miss against Lyon in the final group game inadvertently led to the incredible UEFA Cup campaign. Darche's Euro highlight came in Lisbon when he got on the end of Steven Davis' cross to put Gers ahead in the second leg of their quarter final with Sporting. Competition for forward positions this season meant the popular Frenchman started only seven games for Walter Smith. His final goal came against Aberdeen at Ibrox on November 22 and now he has officially cut his ties with the club but will always have a place in his heart for Gers. He said: "It is a difficult moment for me to leave Rangers because I played for a year and a half here and I was very happy in Glasgow. "I had a good relationship with the staff, my manager and the fans but I need to play football. "It will be good to go back to France because I'll be able to see my family there but I really enjoyed playing for Rangers. "It was one of the highlights of my career and last year was my best season because we won two cups and I scored lots of goals. "It was a disappointment to lose the SPL in the last game and lose the UEFA Cup final but I can't forget what happened as there were still a lot of good memories. "It has been a special time. I have good friends here who I can call when I leave and I'll always be a Rangers fan."

I too am a life member. In the survey I selected "non-active". When I first joined the RST I had high hopes for it achieving true fan representation. Sadly that got undone by what seemed no more than ego and selfishness. I am saddened because, like you, I still think the Trust is the appropriate mechanism for fan representation. Hey Frankie - maybe there are a large number of RST members completing the survey due to the 10 accounts I paid for folks last year  -
For me there are a number of issues. I understand what Gav is saying but I agree with it only if there is consistency. If Rangers fans are the only ones being brought to justice for this then it is abominable. For the life of me I just cannot see how it could be upheld as racist. Just change the "famine words" with "you want to be Oirish, so why don't you go home".

I am not quite as convinced that these "promising youngsters" are what they are being made out to be. Paddy McCourt anyone ? Sure, they could turn out to be great players but the signs aren't really there so far as I can see. Even if they were we have "promising youngsters" of our own who look every bit as good as any of those signed by Celtic. John Fleck anyone ?

Selling the tickets pre-xmas could be a deliberate ploy.... some people may purchase tickets as xmas gifts. Just a thought.

I have been thinking about the whole loan thing a bit and, to me, it makes PERFECT sense to get players in on loan with a view to permanent, so long as you tie down the transfer fee and there is no flexibility from the seller's perspective. Some of the advantages : 1. You get a player with zero transfer fee now 2. You get to see whether he would adapt to the Scottish game 3. His transfer fee is set 4. If he doesnt work out then you dont buy him The only real disadvantage I see is that if he doesnt work out then we have paid his wage and gotten not much for it. And perhaps that loan players are often not the best players to enhance a squad. Am I mising something ?

3 yr contract ! Blackburn have appointed Sam Allardyce as their new manager on a three-year contract. The club moved quickly after sacking Paul Ince on Tuesday and have swooped for the former Bolton and Newcastle manager. The club said in a statement: "Blackburn Rovers are delighted to announce the appointment of Sam Allardyce as manager with immediate effect. Sam has signed a three-year contract." Rovers were keen to make an appointment as soon as possible - especially as Allardyce had also been linked with the vacant position at Sunderland. Blackburn chairman John Williams had said it would be a huge advantage for the new manager to be in position before Saturday's visit by Stoke. Williams said: "You can't underestimate how much of a boost a physical presence could have on Saturday for what is an absolutely mammoth game. "Everyone needs to know how big this game is as this is a time the club really has to come together." Allardyce, 54, will be officially unveiled at a news conference at Ewood Park at 1600 GMT on Thursday. His eight successful years as Bolton boss persuaded the Rovers board that he is the man to rescue Blackburn from the threat of relegation. Blackburn are currently second from bottom of the Premier League with 13 points from 17 games.

I was thinking the same thing Ian - could very well be a ploy to have us prepare for him not playing - then he strangely appears on the team sheet. If he plays Kirkaldinho will have him in his back pocket as per the previous game at paranoiadome.

Yep, you are  Seriously though, I know what you are saying - I still play both 5's and 11's and it is much more enjoyable being competitive, even if not winning trophies, than getting pumped every week. That said, for the most part in 5's, if I am in a poor team I have added motivation to do well given I will be one of the better players - until that is, the poorer players coupled with better opponents, have you getting royally pumped - then it becomes very dmeotivational !

But by the same token it could be said that in some fans eyes they can do no wrong ! The team is challenging better than pre-WS but it has to be remembered that the playing staff was an utter joke when he came back. What makes it worse for me is that the Celtic team that we are going up against isn't that strong a team yet we find ourselves lagging behind them. I was disappointed with the WS signings pre-season most of all (Mendes aside) - he seemed to prioritise all the wrong areas and, with Lafferty and Edu, he played Russian Roulette.

Congratulations to Hoy !! Very, very well deserved. I think Phelps would have been a better choice too, but you can't deny what Bolt did too - world records in both the 100 and 200 - they should maybe have given a joint award.

As will the draw that Chelsea got today
