  1. But what if Beckham got a career ending injury whilst at Milan ? Would the offer still be there ? What if his stock in world football went down in those 2 years ? Would the offer still be there ? I doubt it. Posh will not be the first OR the last person to have ZERO talent and still make a shit load of money in the movie business. Her "move to LA" started on a syndicated network in the US last night, she is being paid about 9 million quid for it (I believe). Beckham gets $252 million for 5 years - so is about GBP 485k per week. I was watching the US "soccer" channel yesterday and LA Galaxy said that they had already sold something like 250,000 shirts. I can see why they perhaps offered him that amount of money. We also don't know the other elements to the contracts - IF LA hold his commercial rights (did Madrid not get 50% of his commercial income ??) then they could recoup a fair amount of that fee.
  2. Probably the proper question to ask is "would you have went to Milan or Newcastle or chosen to pocket half a million quid a week" ? On top of that I don't think there is any doubt that both of them want to be in the movies too so what better way to give you a foot in the door than to be playing football right on the doorstep of the Hollywood movers and shakers. I actually think he would have been a fool to turn down LA's offer.
  3. Gav was only half way right anyway buba.... you had said bearsley, so he was wrong too when he thought it was beardsley - not even sure I know what I am saying anymore. Time for happy hour and beers in the sun !
  4. Thomson can cover for either BF or BH - and Mcculloch apparently can play CM too, not ideal I know - but if BF and BH are out at the same time then tactics can be shifted to have Thomson as holdin gmid and bring in Buffel as a creative AM. I think our squad is already looking a fair bit stronger than this time last pre-season - but, as you say, without looking spectacular at all
  5. I doubt that Ferguson meant it literally though Gribz, he was more than likely trying to get the point across that training is more physical sincs WS came back.
  6. In reading the stories it would appear the mystery club is in England - Celtic are denying they have made a bid - if that is the case there is a good chance that Naismith could be playing at Killie next year because he seems to be adamant that he will not move south at this point of his career. I would like to see him at Gers as I think he adds decent firepower and can do a job on the left side of midfield too.
  7. Is also being reported on the desktop news service from the official site. Welcome to Rangers big man ! WALTER SMITH has secured the services of highly-rated Spanish star Carlos Cuellar as he continues to formulate his squad for the new campaign. The Osasuna defender, who played against Rangers in last season's UEFA Cup, jetted in last night to seal the deal and undergo a medical. Now Cuellar, who has signed a four-year contract, will join his new team mates this weekend after becoming the sixth new capture since the tail end of last season, following the signings of Jean-Claude Darcheville, DaMarcus Beasley, Graeme Smith, Kirk Broadfoot and Alan Gow. Rangers became aware of Cuellar when they went to watch Osasuna ahea do the last 16 clash in the UEFA Cup and subsequently kept tabs on him. Snith believes he is landing an excellent player who also has a terrific future in the game given that he is still only 25. Smith said: "We're delighted to sign Carlos. We were impressed with him when we went to watch Osasuna before our UEFA Cup tie and also in the tie itself. "We then followed up on that and decided to make an offer to Osasuna. I'm very pleased that we have now done the deal and I feel sure he will be an excellent addition to our squad." COMING UP - EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEWS WITH CARLOS AND WALTER ON WORLD
  8. According to Sportinglife Celtic will be signing Naismith by the weekend...... Rangers look set to fail in their attempts to sign Steven Naismith after Kilmarnock revealed they are close to reaching an agreement with a rival bidder. The Rugby Park club have confirmed a verbal offer, in excess of the four failed bids which have so far been tabled by Rangers, has been received and a deal could be thrashed out by the weekend. Celtic are presumed to be the mystery bidder, with 20-year-old striker Naismith having already ruled out a move south of the border and other SPL clubs lacking both the financial clout and lure of the Scottish champions. The news will come as a bitter blow to Rangers, who have already seen previous targets Scott Brown and Scott McDonald sign for their rivals across the city. Speaking from their training camp in Italy, Kilmarnock manager Jim Jefferies told PA Sport: "We have had an offer in excess of what Rangers have offered. "It's a verbal offer at the moment, with some additional add-ons still to be discussed to take us up to what we're looking for. "We expect to hear back from the club who made the verbal offer in a couple of days." Jefferies also denied Kilmarnock had reneged on an agreement with Rangers. The Ayrshire club value the SPFA Young Player of the Year at £2million and say they have always made it clear they want £1.5million plus add-ons, while Rangers were only willing to offer £1.5million including add-ons based on appearances. "We have never had an agreement with Rangers," insisted Jefferies. "They are entitled to their valuation and so are we. "They have tried to get him for as little amount as possible, as you would expect any club to do. "But they have known from a few days after they made their first ridiculous offer what we are looking for. "If Rangers want to pull out, that's up to them. Steven will be a bit disappointed but he will get on with his life at Kilmarnock." According to reports today, Kilmarnock chiefs have also rejected a shock £850,000 bid from Hibernian, as well as Rangers' latest offer in the last 24 hours. But Jefferies claimed Killie were not trying to instigate a bidding war for their prize asset. Naismith flew out to Italy with the rest of his team-mates this morning and the Killie boss pointed out that any deal would only be concluded if the player also agreed to the move. "He will only go if he wants to go," he said. "We're not trying to sell him or get into an auction. "We have always been straight and asked for a fair price. If we agree a deal and he doesn't want to go there, he doesn't have to go. "He has handled all of this well but it must be unsettling which is why we want things resolved as soon as possible. "He's with the rest of the team here in Italy and is just getting on with life as a Kilmarnock player for now."
  9. They are all good things to have Frankie. However, I have trouble believing point #3 - "A commitment from the chairman (ie finance and leadership)." We have been told this before and have not really seen it put into motion. The old adage "actions speak louder than words" most definitely applies to that particular statement from SDM.
  10. They sure did. I think Adu is similar to Nakamura in that he wouldn't necessarily be the greatest of players but he could be a marketing and merchandising dream....... IF we hadn't sold our rights to our own merchandise.
  11. Freddy Adu would have better offers than the Tims.
  12. Brellier signed for Norwich, now we just need Radzinski to sign for someone else too !
  13. It isn't a comparison between Boyd and McCoist so don't try to see it as one - and I am pretty certain that Boyd's goals to games ratio is more prolific than both Mols and Wallace. Happy to stand corrected though if proven wrong. Boyd is still the most prolific scorer since McCoist - and that is NOT a comparison between the two, no matter that you want to see it as one. You have a fair point about Sebo getting more time on the pitch, but at who's expense ? I thought you wanted to try Sebo with Darcheville, was that not right ? That means dropping a guy that has been giving us almost 30 goals a season in 18 months for a guy that couldn't buy a goal. And Sebo has had some chances which would be better than half chances too Gribz. Sebo doesn't deserve his chance right now..... if Boyd is scoring then he is doing the main part of his job and you shouldn't drop someone for doing the biggest part of his job well.
  14. Boyd doesn't get praised for being slow, lazy and having poor control, he gets praised for putting the ball in the back of the net, something whish Sebo has yet to do on any kind of basis. So if anything the praise that Sebo gets for "putting in a good shift" is something that I can't understand. It gets harder to see how fans are all for giving Sebo a "run of games" to see is he can come good and they want him to get that run of games at the expense of the most prolific scorer we have had since McCoist. I say this as someone who would LIKE Sebo to get a run of games - but I personally would take Boyd's goals (and faults) over Sebo's effort and lack of end product. We have no creativity which means the midfield arent supplying goals - so without Boyd we would be screwed !!
  15. Seems that we are now out of the running according to the Bordeaux President
  16. Unbelievable the justification they make for that bombscare Letizi !
  17. To be fair, Milan did pay 10 mill for him, so they had to have seen something. I did get amusement out of them saying he played for Milan though given how long he has been on loan......

    I used my calculator Pete
  19. Exactly - if they said they wanted 2 mill teams would bite their hands off and they would know they had lost a player on the cheap. Selling teams will always overprice players they are selling whilst buying teams will always underprice players they want to buy (although we are masters at the latter with Bain at the helm.........)
  20. I would rather Naismith than McCulloch. With Naismith we would be paying 500k less for a 23 yr old as opposed to 2 mill for a 29 yr old. Naismith has more talent then McCulloch IMO.

    signing rumours

Maybe so calscot about them not wanting to slate their fellow players - but every player, not just at Rangers, will cover himself by simply saying "I would love to see better quality players at the club" - it covers them because none of their team-mates will know who they are getting at as it could be 11 positions (although likely 10 as they won't want someone to come in for their position) so they cover their tracks. As for me.... you were probably closer to describing me if you just finished with "I am sure you are shit" - the word "hot" was abit redundant
  22. Donation sent. Frankie, in the "Item" line what do we put ? I just put "Bobby shearer portrait" - hope that is ok

    signing rumours

To be honest, NO I don't - because I have the confidence in my own ability that I can stave off any competition for my job. This is the attitude that the current crop of players SHOULD have (even though we all know they aren't up to the job) but they don't have. Thing is though, another way of looking at it, Hutton would definitely want to see better midfielders or strikers at the club, Ferguson would love to see better defenders or strikers at the club and Boyd would love to see better defenders and midfielders. So the players being disappointed at the lack of activity isnt a rumour that stinks - it is just that they want to see better players for every other position except their own (which is what I think you were getting at) - that still means the rumour doesn't stink - they DO still want better players, just dont ask them if they want better players to compete with them for their position.
  24. The 5-1 win at Ibrox when Ray Wilkins scored a screamer - was 5-1 giong on 10-1 ! I agree Cammy, the day we humped that at Parkhead to win the title - was all the more pleasing to see them show their true colours with the shocking physical abuse of Hugh Dallas. Hampden.... the 3-2 win with Lovenkrands getting the last minute win.
