Minutes of meeting with Craig Mather, Brian Stockbridge etc
Bluedell replied to rbr's topic in Rangers Chat
Not sure why opinions that you disagree with show a lack of objectivity. They just come across as desperate men who want to save their own skins and fail to understand the concept of collective responsibility. If you disagree with any of the points on the thread, make an argument rather than attacking the posters which suggests a lack of a response on your part.- 72 replies

Using the "a big boy did it and ran away" excuse to try and avoid responsibility is pathetic.- 72 replies

Per altar is definitely over-reacting. You do it all the time and the refs will start to ignore it and he won't get genuine claims.

Scottish FA fit and proper guidelines could block Dave King

We should have enough to see out the season. -
I presume that after the minutes are produced it could take a few days for the club to approve them so don;t be surprised if it's the middle of next week before they appear. Can't say I expect anything of note from them, (Mather justifying his position...again, Stockbridge refusing to give any info due to Stockmarket rule, no explanation on why the prevous Chairman was surprised at the extent of the loss etc) but I guess you never know.

It wasn't a case of adding verses. It's a different song. What was sung by the Rangers fans "why don't you go home x 2 etc" doesn't feature in the other one. What part don't I know? I don't know that the Celtic fans will sing about the IRA at some point this season. I don't know that some rangers fans will not complain about some songs that other rangers fans sing at some point in the next 6 months, I can't say for sure but both points are virtual certainties, pretty much like the points I made. However if you disagree then that's fair enough.

Different song that was never sung at a Rangers game, That argument falls down when you look at the Celtic fans romanticising the famine every week. If it's acceptable for Scottish Celtic fans to sing about it every week then it's also acceptable for Rangers fans to take the piss out of them for doing so. Nobody was laughing at the famine. they were laughing at the Celtic fans for pretending they were Irish and for singing about the famine when they are Scottish. They would have still used the same arguments and been successful. It was irrelevant whether we only sung it Celtic fans or everyone. The spin would have still been put on it and accepted by all non-bears and many of our own support as well.

Interesting post on FF. There's also a suggestion that Hart is being investigated for the way that he received shares from Green. I have no idea as to the veracity of either of these issues.
-
Bottom line is that McMurdo lied.
-
Hart is very low profile so I doubt that him going will save their own positions. He also appeared to be supportive of the "anti-Walter" faction on the board (for lack of a better term) and therefore I don't really see it as strengthening Mather and Stockbridge's position. However I'm not sure where the Easdales are coming from on this.

Tycoon Dave King set to return to Rangers as chairman
Bluedell replied to Steve1872's topic in Rangers Chat
How much have the Easdales out into the club? Doesn't appear to be that much, if any at all. They may not be happy with this move as it could stymie their goal of becoming owners.- 64 replies

I've heard the argument for many years, both on-line and off-line. Celtic fans have also used it for many years. I think that it can be used successfully in a few cases like the first verse of "Coming Down the Road" which has been sung in Ibrox this season (for the first time as far as I can recall). In some cases like A Father's Advice I'd say it's a bit more ambiguous but the implication is that it's not referring to WW1 and I think it'd be difficult to prove that it did. It's an argument that I find unacceptable when used by Celtic fans so it's not one that I'd find easy to support when used by Rangers fans.

Thanks. Found this on Wiki: "Its name would later be resurrected by the YCV youth movement attached to the 1966 Ulster Volunteer Force " which I guess is the link.

It's a bit of a changing list though. FOCuS previously never had an issue with the song AFAIK.

Quite why this song requires bastardising with the UVF reference is beyond me.

Serious question. Why does the singing of the YCV fall foul of the Act? Are they linked to a terrorist organisation?

I'd argue that it's not being applied consistently. When a law (good or bad) is only applied to one section of the community, it's never going to work properly.

You seriously believe that the police, press and politicians treat the songs that Rangers fans sing in the same way as similar songs that Celtic fans sing? You believe that treat the use of the H word in the same way as they do the F word?

Walter Smith insists Rangers need to get back to a situation where...

That's the most revealing part of it. Stockbridge is obviously keeping back information from some of the other directors, including the Chairman. -
Scottish Cup 3rd Round Draw: Rangers v Airdrieonians
Bluedell replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
They never used to be like that in the 80s. Airdrie was generally the opposite to Coatbridge and tended to have a more Rangers-minded support. may have changed since then. -

Leggat - BOYD BONUS BOMBSHELL AS MATHER AND STOCKBRIDGE SNUB FANS
Bluedell replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
The issue of a Finance Director getting a bonus at a football club can be a tricky one. I don't have an issue with him getting one if the club meet their targets during the year. However getting a 100% bonus os obviously totally over the top. I'm not necessarily in favour of him getting a bonus based on financial results. For example, perhaps the club needs to sell Wallace to get the cash for Stickbridhe to meet his financial target. He may therefore have an incentive to weaken the team rather than strengthen it. Perhaps a complicated bonus structure based on cost control could be put in place as an alternative. The bottom line is that Stockbridge's bonus was far too high in percentage terms. A bonus of, say 10%, for us winning the league, and perhaps a one-off bonus of 20% for a suvccessful share issue may have been in order. Zappa, there has been less focus on Green's bonus as he has now done a runner. We should now be concentrating more on the directorswho are still on the board who approved it.- 28 replies
