Most footballers are mercenaries unless they play for the team they support. He isn't a Gers supporter. You are suggesting that he owes us something because we improved him as a player. Why? In your job, if your current employer helps you improve your skills (as most employers should always be seeking to do) and then someone else comes in with a better offer, would you turn down a large increase in your salary and stay where you are? If he has improved that much then shouldn't Rangers be ofering him a lot more than they are? You think that he should come out in the press and slag the club for offering him a reduced contract? Surely it's credit to him for not doing that. Why do you want the club criticised? Honour? He's a guy trying to do the best for his wife and family. What’s not honourable about that?

I don't get this attitude. He signed for us, played better than I certainly expected, and didn't cause any problems. He gave as much to us as we gave to him. He is alleged to have been offered a new contract on a much reduced salary, and has options to get a far better deal elsewhere. Who wouldn't do what he is doing? What has he done wrong?

We do need someone but I don't think Boyd is the answer. I don't have any issues with the way he left, but will he be happy not being first choice? WIll he accept sitting on the bench most weeks, and have the correct attitude?I have my doubts.

One man with pace and movement can dramatically affect the way a team plays though. Hopefully Jelavic can take over much of that role, but he needs someone playing beside him.

Nowhere near it. That's just an excuse to have yet another pop at someone at the club.

I fail to see what your post was trying to imply then. You seemed to be disagreeing with the point I was making, but if you agree with it then fine.

So that one result means that we play poorer with Miller in the team? You think that we play better and give teams more problems when he isn't playing?

Tonight's performance highlights how much we are going to miss him. He stretches defences and we can be easy to play against when he's missing.

We could win the league. Far better than £500K and potentially worth more.

If the Birmingham deal could be worth £1.1m to us then we should not be accepting £500K from the Turks.

Dilute the quality of the league with more dross? A non-starter, in my opinion, and would lead to lower crowds and a poorer quality.

Details of Rangers fans meeting , today , with Neil Doncaster

I'm not sure that more people would go to football in the summer. People could miss 2 or 3 games when they are on holiday and there are plenty of other alternatives. -
I'm also sure he said we would not sign anyone over the age of 30 and the we signed David Weir within 18 months. He has said a lot of stuff over the years that he hopes people will not remember.

He just makes me feel unclean. The sooner he and his bitterness leave Scottish football the better. -
I was talking about profit and not debt. You can take the £6m gain on sale of players out of the 2009 figures and it brings your £25m back down again.

How are the mail staff finding the bullets? Does the mail get x-rayed or do the packages have stickers on them?

2009 - loss of £12.6m 2010 - profit of £4.2m CL is said to be worth around £17m, so the numbers stack up (kind of). Replace £17m with £8m and we are still looking at a £4m loss....although that's very simplistic, but it shows that we've still a bit to go.

Are the wheels finally set to come off the bogey
Bluedell replied to rbr's topic in General Football Chat
All it means is that clubs will get a bit more creative with their accounting. Players will find that part of their wages will come from other sources, eg they will get paid by the club's holding company for PR. -
Adam is playing well in the middle of a 5 man midfield. Adam played well for us in the middle of a 5 man midfield. He didn't play well for us in the middle of a 4 man midfield or on the left side of a 4 or 5 man midfield. Rangers tended not to play a 5 man midfield domestically. Simples.

He's had a few successes and a few failures. He definitely deserves to be criticised for some (JRod is one that springs to mind), but I'm not sure that it's fair to criticise him on this when everyone knew Rangers were desperate to get rid of Adam. How many other clubs were interested, and could be used as a negotiating tool?
-
There's plenty to criticise Bain over, but we have no idea what goes on in these negotiations. What would be better? An offer of £500K plus 10% sell-on fee or £700K plus no sell-on fee? If the bank were given the choice, which one would they have gone for? If it was me, and without the benefit of hindsight, I'd go for the £700K. I'm sure the bank would too.

We bought Davis for £3m. I don't see that Adam is better than Davis (based on last season's form).
