FRANK McGarvey may seem an unlikely source of inspiration for Rangers
Tannochsidebear replied to pete's topic in Rangers Chat
He is giving nothing away because he hasn't a clue if we even have a style of play, if you don't count boring and lethargic! -
I read elsewhere that it does say Old Firm in the article, and looking at the layout of the page, it does look like they just didnt have the room to put in another work. Might be worth giving the benefit of the doubt this time, but just because we are paranoid doesn't mean they are not out to get us! Myabe that was their way of appeasing both!

Good statement from RST. Coupled with the one from TBO I have just read on the other thread, it seems our various fans groups are all on the same page and have woken up to the reality of the state our club is in. Sunday's game couldn't be less important if it was an end of season rubber match in the bigger picture of where we are.

An excellent statement from TBO. Good work lads.

They are operating separately in the same way that Ashley is a minority shareholder with little influence!!
-
I don't quite agree with that. The two offers as they were are easily compared and one is clearly substantially favourable to the club. The other is substantially favourable to the lender. The reason Ashley doubled his offer from £5M to £10M (but it is really only £5M with a reviewable further £5M potentially somewhere down the line) and took off the security over Ibrox was just to get it to an arguable level for a spin doctor to try to defend as his original deal was indefensible. To most fans even this softer loan is outrageous and is clearly not in our clubs interests.
-
The Park/King group could have offered £20M interest free and without security and it was LLambias/Somers job to find a way to reject it in favour of their puppet master. It was not a serious option for them to not take Ashley's deal, as Ashley is running the club and is battling to retain control. The only thing they had to worry about was what excuse they were going to make to reject the better option.

Will be interesting to see the response from King & T3B who will be able to rip this apart and hopefully up the ante for the EGM. It might even help sway some floating voters if they can get this right. In the meantime there should be an absolute boycott of all SD and club shops, with picket lines outside the club shop on matchdays.
-
The first £5M is to repay the £3M he already got, and the second £5M is probably never going to happen. So he gets to keep pretty much all the merch, 2 new Directors to win any boardroom votes, and a floating charge over all assets (which obviously includes our stadium) for £2M. And the board think this is a good deal for the club??? This doesnt even allow us to pay off our chief gardener and his assistants, never mind look to the future.

Ian Davidson was at the 2014 RST AGM and made a few very good points.

Brian Donohoe is the chair of the Westminster RSC and has spoken before at the RST Gerspride conference. Adam Ingram is also a well known bluenose, I know some of his family and while they are tims, Adam is most definately one of us. I heard plenty of stories of his time serving under John Reid while Dr Death was NI Secretary in the Blair government, and safe to say they didnt get agree on much. Both represent the Labour Party.

Rangers First Club 1872 Membearship Certificates
Tannochsidebear replied to WATP_Greg's topic in Rangers Chat
Cheers Greg, just wondering how much progress had been made at the business end of the scheme. Almost a quarter of the available 1872 gone is not too bad I suppose. Has any research been done as to how long we have to buy up as many shares as possible that will count in the upcoming EGM? My guess is that as soon as the date of the EGM is announced (probably on Feb 6 with EGM around Mar 6) then that will be the cut-off for the share register for votes to count, but I hope I am wrong and that any further trades between the dates will count for voting rights at the EGM. Obviously both RF/BR will be trying to snap up as many shares that will count for the vote, and will want to keep the current momentum going as well. -

Greg, any idea how many of the life memberships at £500 a pop RF have now sold? -
I think if memory serves me right that a life membership of the RST was £100. That would make the offer price of them buying 357 shares from anyone at 28p, which I believe is slightly ahead of where the share price is currently. It is a reasonable offer to make I suppose but anyone buying RFC shares at the IPO were not doing so to punt them on, they were to own a wee piece of the club so I am not expecting many to take them up on the offer. They may have more success with appealing for proxies or getting bears to sign up to BR given current events, and good luck to them for a bit of creative thinking.

Steve Simonsen issued notice of complaint.
Tannochsidebear replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Given that the hearing is not until 12 February, it is sadly impossible for Simmo to be suspended for the semi final. Anybody hear anything about Bell who was supposed to be out until Christmas the last I heard?- 37 replies

I think there are a majority of members in RF/BR that are duplicate members. So there are probably something like 5,500 individual Bears signed up. There is obviously no way of checking this as that would need to be done by comparing databases which I guess would be illegal under DPA but going from social media and forums most bears I see posting have done both. We are seeing a clear positive message coming out now that there is most certainly room for both vehicles to gather members, especially with the very small monthly contributions that Bears can sign up for. With there being 2 vehicles there is twice as much chance of social media driving through new members, and both have been very active on Twitter especially, with just about every second tweet on my timeline being a retweet from RF of another new member signing up, which is in turn making more and more Bears believe it is right to do this and are signing up in big numbers, no doubt aided by good media coverage, advertising, and the desperate situation our club finds itself in. Where previosuly bears would have turned on each other and saying their choice of RF/BR was the best and they wouldnt touch the other one, we are now seeing this being put to one side for the greater good and most bears encouraging everyone else to sign up to one or both if they can. It remains to be seen how long the momentum can be kept going for, and what will happen come EGM time, but we have to be encouraged by at the least the fact that, for once in a very long time, we have managed to unite against a common enemy.

There are certain journos, we all know who they are, that offer no impartiality where our club is concerned. The tims have had the media all sewn up for many a long year, and their CEO allows no impartial or unwarranted criticism of the club to be written/aired without consequences of losing their rights of access, and a dressing down from their boss. We are looking for parity, no more no less. No more cheap shots that go unanswered, no more denegration of our fanbase, no more lies about riots at the front door that did not happen. I cant see why any Bear would have a problem with this.
-
Not sure GS, perhaps some of the larger independent holders wouldn't mind offloading dribs and drabs at 25p considering they will no doubt fall in value again if Ashley wins EGM.
-
Greg, does RF anticipate another batch of shares being purchased before the cut-off for voting at the EGM? If so, any idea what sort of numbers we are looking at?
-
Great news that more and more former players are joining BR/RF or both. This can only help both vehicles with credibility and marketing opportunities and hopefully see recent massive increases in member numbers in both continue apace.

A soon to be appointed Director is already working on said list I hear!
