Phil McFournames take on yesterday's Appeal decision.
Tannochsidebear replied to 26th of foot's topic in Rangers Chat
It is no surprise to see all the usual suspects come out today and use the same party line, that it was all the fault of Rangers and Rangers alone and that we only reported the facts blah blah blah. 4names, Spiers and others all using this same sorry, and factually wrong, excuse so as not to apologise for calling us cheats. Spiers even repeats the notion that using LEGAL tax planning is cheating, because he (discredited sports journalist) says so, despite lots of highly educated, specialised law lords and experts all now coming out and saying there was nothing wrong with our use of these schemes. I wont hold my breath on the club calling him out to apologise for this comment alone, as the board will be happy of the sideshow to take some heat off them and their share options shambles.- 9 replies

Rangers Creditors Win £24m Settlement from Law Firm
Tannochsidebear replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Spot on Ian. It was for legal challenges to protect our name, titles etc. If there is any chance that the SPFL can be held accountable for damages (or even our money back that they withheld, fines etc), we would love to be able to go after them, and using the RFFF money would be a good shout, given that the club itself cant afford anything but Directors bonuses. Also, the RFFF was holding back to ensure that, should the unthinkable happen and the UTT go against us, we knew Celtic (the SPFL) were going to come after our titles again and we were keeping the money to fight it. Now that it appears this has finally went the way it should have, and it now has to be accepted that we didnt financially cheat during any title winning period, this money should now be free to be used somewhere else. -
I feckin knew it all along. I just couldn't believe that Murray, for all his many, many faults, would not have the correct procedures in place to ensure the EBT's followed the law to the letter to make them legal. Having seen presentations on these type of EBT's in my job with clients of mine, it is a thoroughly exhaustive process but perfectly legal if carried out correctly, which given the number of top professionals Murray was paying would have been fairly certain they would have done so. I told everyone who would listen, including Mark Daly at BBC, that he was wrong in his "award-winning" documentary, and that the BTC would ultimately fail. Then they came back with the old, ah but HMRC are going to appeal so we cant say you are innocent yet. Well F**K the lot of you scumbags who have been giving us it tight for the last 5 years or so, I feckin told you so. Absolutely disgusted that this was allowed to be played out the way it was. There was never the innocent until proven guilty chance afforded to us as scumbag after scumbag, including many in authority and positions of power, rose to say how bad we were. Have absolutely no doubt, without this BTC, we would never have been able to have the pressure put on us by LBG that they did, never have sold to Whyte, and therefore never have had to go thorugh what we went thorugh, and are still going through with another season of inferior tosh ahead, and no European prestige or chance of National success.

Rangers Creditors Win £24m Settlement from Law Firm
Tannochsidebear replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
I hope you are right DT, but do our board have the nous or even care to try to go for those who kicked us when we need help, who refused to even consider for a minute that we might not be hospital & school-shutters, and who messed up Scottish football for a generation just to spite the club they were most jealous of. -
The fact we had a proven (at that level) goalscorer fit and raring to go for the last two months of the season (Clark) makes the above statement ridiculous. As the league was won by Xmas (August if you are being realistic) there was absolutely no need to play an injured player in any position in any game. Can we not have the world cup continue for another 3 months so the new season doesn't start so soon please?

Gersnet Prediction League - World Cup Brazil 2014
Tannochsidebear replied to Zappa's topic in Rangers Chat
Well the European game was as dull as a Rangers home game from the latter part of last season, especially surprising as we got the early goal that usually opens a game up, but I seen it summed up on twitter quite well by someone who posted that France set their stall out for a 1-0 loss and played out time successfully. The South American game was fantastic, with the early goal opening the game up and both sides going all out to score goals and win the game. Luiz might put 99% of those in row ZZ, but the one that does go in came in the biggest stage at an important time. The late pen set us up for a pulsating finish, and although I wanted Brazil to win, I would have loved to see an extra half hour of that. I was also happy as I had backed a penalty to be awarded in the match. I had a Brazil Germany SF tipped from the outset, and i tipped Argentina v Spain for the other, so with Holland taking Spain's place as group C winners, I will stick with them to take on ARG in the other SF, so I expect them both to get through tomorrow, with maybe ET required for Messi's lot to get past Belgium. -
He won't make an offer like that because he is adamant that he will not buy existing shares as he wants his money to go to the club and not the existing shareholders. A lovely pipe dream but it is not what this club needs. We need rid of our powerful shareholders that are running the club through their proxies on the board, and the only way to do that is to buy them out. If King continues to stick to his policy, he will not end up running the club, except through buying it from an administrator, which we as fans cannot afford to let happen for football reasons.

Great story.

No, by not doing enough to try to unite the fans behind them. It is only through their mismanagement that fans have decided to not renew ST books. This board cannot be trusted, and about 20,000 supporters believe that strongly enough to make a stand by not renewing, with many more thousands having sympathy with that viewpoint but renewed anyway to keep their seat. Take King out of the equation, this board have failed just about every task asked of them, and some of them do not have the credentials to be on the board, and have brought nothing to the club but large wage costs and expense claims, bad publicity and in-fighting. I would ask what the board have done to earn your trust, or is it just a case of backing the current regime as there are no valid alternatives, or we are stuck with them and might as well get on with it, or you don't fancy having King in charge and feel the incumbents are the only way to keep him out. I feel it must be a negative, as I cannot see any positives in what they have done.

Absolutely fantastic news, if it comes through, although not at all unexpected as there was never a proper case to answer as I have consistently said for years now.

Jackson is really a "miscreant journalist"
Tannochsidebear replied to barca72's topic in Rangers Chat
I got as far as Oxford philosopher and sighed. Forced myself to read on, and wished I hadn't bothered. Sum it up in 7 words; Journo spin things to fill their copy. In other news, man lands on moon. -
I have just read the forewords and contributors list and I still don't get what they are trying to achieve. If only all these fans were as vocal about the abomination of a board and used their journalistic skills to uncover some truths that could help our club, rather than this attempt at something not quite clear, we might get on better. Safe to say I wont be buying, but I am sure some will and it may well be what they are looking for, if the book actually has a point to make at all, which is not at all clear.

My previous post got me thinking how many Saturday 3pm games we actually got last season, so I went and counted them up and we got 16 out of 36 of our games at the traditional kick off slot. Somehow I dont think we will even get that many this season.

Gersnet Prediction League - World Cup Brazil 2014
Tannochsidebear replied to Zappa's topic in Rangers Chat
Game Day troops!! given my embarrassing position in the league, I have gone for the bonus points predictions this time!! Again, this will be different from what I bet at the bookies, I am thinking of a draw double today as I fancy both games to go into extra time before a winner is decided. News of the German camp being struck with illness is not great for my prediction, but unsure if this is mind games or genuine, and if it will affect any of their better players. Looking forward to some cracking games tonight and tomorrow, bring it on! -
Whooppee, a Sunday lunchtime game to get us started. And so it begins. How many Sat 3pm games will we get to see this season I wonder. Which wouldnt be so bad if we got more than £2.50 per game from the super duper Lawwell inspired tv contract. PS Thanks for the info Frankie!

I'm sorry, but what a lot of absolute nonsense that sounds. I wont be buying/reading that opportunistic nonsense. The only thing Rangers fans agree on, is that we dont really agree on anything. As for the 3 questions it poses, Rangers mean absolutely nothing to Scotland nowadays, and vice versa. That was clearly shown when we went into administration, and instead of helping one of the country's most globally known "brands" the commentators and politicians lined up to have a good old kick. While I would think a fairly decent majority of Rangers fans would support the NO campaign, (perhaps slightly more than the national opinion polls ATM) I cant believe anybody would vote on an issue so important to the nation's inhabitants based on their football leanings. I for one am totally opposed to the Independance nonsense, based mostly on the economic argument, but if Rangers fans were mostly in the majority for YES, it wouldnt make me think that I should tamely follow and vote YES. Unfortunately Rangers are now such a non-event in National, UK, or World terms that any attempt to combine our club's fans and fortunes to the argument about breaking up the UK in favour of Salmond's barmy army of tartan tosspots, is quite simply opportunistic claptrap.

It cant be that difficult to have them the same colour as the top then FFS. BTW they dont half come out with some pish regarding "Dry cell technology" & "heat transfer tapes". All to make a £1.50 football top seem worth £45 I suppose for any mug that still buys such stuff. Dry cell technology - is not the whole point of sport to get your cardio workout and your body sweating to keep you cool. If there is such a thing as dry cell technology, would it not be better on a work-shirt, with the "heat transfer stripes" under the armpits?
-
I see your point, but I think it adds to it. If we all agreed on everything it would be boring eh!

Disagree. The 5 stars are a reminder to everyone around the world that we have over 50 league titles in our history. One star for every ten titles is an Italian tradition I believe that we jumped on to mark our "50" which was a magnificent achievement. Now it seems everyone is putting stars on their shirt, from CL wins to WC wins for National teams it is very fashionable and is most certainly bragging rights for supporters of those teams who have won enough to put stars on their shirt. I also think they top off the RFC crest really well. As for the shirt in the OP, WTF are those go-faster stripes down the front all about?

Talking of Charbonnier, am I the only one that everytime I hear the French National Anthem thinks back to that game at Perth where the Bears were singing La Marseilleses (sp?!!) with LC's name replacing the actual words. I was behind LC's goal that day and he was really moved to hear the bears sing his national anthem to him. I think we won 7-0 as well.

He should have been banned sine die in my book. 3 times he has done this, plus his racism conviction is enough to know this guy is an absolute scumbag of the highest order. His apology reeked of PR spin management, and I dont for one minute believe his has any regret or believes he has done wrong. A world class footballer he most certainly is, but this was the ideal opportunity to show the world that the player is not bigger than the game. What is his real punishment for this latest offence? A huge increase in pay and a move to one of the worlds biggest clubs. Welcome to football in 2014.

Ryan Gauld has signed for Sporting Lisbon
Tannochsidebear replied to ian1964's topic in General Football Chat
Did this guy play against us in the SF? Cant say I noticed a EUR 60M player on the park that day? And am I not right in saying he couldnt even make the Cup Final team? For Dundee United? Who are pish! WTF are Sporting Lisbon playing at? This guy will be released after a season of epic failure is my guess. -
Gersnet Prediction League - World Cup Brazil 2014
Tannochsidebear replied to Zappa's topic in Rangers Chat
It is not going to be a shock of Costa Rica proportions if any of the three you mention get through, and I can see Columbia taking the game to Brazil and they certainly have a chance, but I am happy to stick with my 4 as the SF lineup. If Belgium continue with that barnet in midfield they will certainly not beat Argentina. France never beat the Germans when it comes to the crunch and this is where the absence of Ribery will affect them, I just dont think they will have enough to outscore Germany, who played poorly in their last game against an opponent who made it really difficult for them but I dont think they will be as poor again. We can all have a go at predicting the outcomes, but I am sure they will be fantastic spectacles in keeping with the WC to date. -
I am still going for Brazil to win it. Although they havent been as fluid as Brazil teams of yesteryear, I believe with the massive home support behind them, and a fantastic shrewd manager getting them right tactically, if they can get and keep Naymar fit they will prevail. Argentina I like as well, and no other opponents they will face will park the bus like the boring Swiss did, which will suit them more in the next two rounds. The Germans and Dutch are next best and if either can take their chances against the South Americans they could get to the final and win it, but I still think that is unlikely. It is fair to say that all the favourites struggled in the second round against lesser teams, but they have all got through and that is what cup football is all about.
