  1. Excellent, thanks mate! There's some articles been published on the Gers site today which might help you with info: Remembering Our Heroes Aird Tear Only Minor No Regrets Over Loy
  2. He does look like a decent signing so far, but I'm going to reserve judgement for the moment because we've got a lot of extremely important games between now and the end of the season.
  3. Updated to include our Challenge Cup SF tie with Alloa which is confirmed for Wednesday Dec 03, 19:30 KO. 4. Thanks TB, I'll get this added to the preview writing schedule now before I forget!
  5. His recent mentions of it have been a bit sinister because he now knows it's absolute nonsense, but he's kept using it in underhand ways to support his agendas.
  6. And that is precisely the problem. Not only was a ludicrous suggestion you'd been given (and agreed with) aired at the meeting, but it's apparently been agreed to take it further and discuss the matter with the Club. The RFB need to throw nonsense like that in the bin before it even gets as far as being discussed with the Club.
  7. Don't forget to post your predictions for the Falkirk game between now and kick-off tomorrow! Do it here - Predictions for Rangers v Falkirk - SPFL Championship match 12 (GPL game 20)
  8. The King getting his money back rumour was labelled rubbish and put in the bin ages ago. IIRC, it originally stemmed from someone misinterpreting a set of accounts and quickly grew arms and legs as the mischief making crackpots spread the word.
  9. I'll try to explain it again. For players who joined the league later than others the average score system could maybe have been viewed as fair because for those players it was an achievement to catch up with other players and be sitting on the same number of points. However, with there being up to around 30 players in the league this season and a random selection of people missing the odd game (some more than others), it wouldn't be fair to get to the end of the season and have someone winning the league purely because they missed more games than someone else.
  10. Someone said it was from the Mail, but I wouldn't buy that paper, so can't verify it.
  11. Good win for the 12's! Thanks again for all your work and updates Elfideldo!
  12. In other words, you sent an email to someone at Rangers and you received confirmation that that they had passed on the request/invite/suggestion to someone else? Did they tell you who it had been passed on to? It might get as far as Llambias if you're lucky, but I doubt very much that this request will even reach Ashley's secretary.
  13. Unless you (or anyone else for that matter!) ask someone personally you'll never know for sure that they've actually been asked, even if you're told they have been because that type of thing is like chain mail passed from one person to the next and inevitably binned or ignored by someone in the chain. That's one of the reasons why compartmentalization works well for those at the top of corporate pyramids, but not so well for those further down asking awkward questions.
  14. Thankfully, very few people on the forums will believe this sort of nonsense, but unfortunately, there's always some fans who read nonsense like this in a newspaper and lap it up.
  15. It's all explained in my reply to gunslinger.
  16. I was going to update the GPL rules thread with the additional info and then point everyone to that, but I haven't gotten round to it yet. It's pretty self explanatory because it's based on what's the most difficult things to predict in order as follows: CS/Correct Score FGS/First Goal Scorer RG/Rangers Goals (number of) CR/Correct Result (W, L or D) At the top and taking priority in the event of players on equal points totals, CS is the most difficult thing to predict, so that's the equivalent of GD/Goal Difference on a football league table. If players have equal points and have also predicted the same number of Correct Scores, then FGS comes next and so on...... The old system used average points priority in the event of players on equal points, but it wasn't logical or fair and even less fair was falling back on alphabetical name order if players were on equal points and also had the same average due to having played the same number of games. The main reason for sorting this out now was just in case the top of the table ended in a dead heat points wise at the end of the season, then there would need to be a logical and fair way to decide the winner. Is everyone happy with that?
  17. Had to be done mate, sorry. We couldn't have a situation arising at the end of the season where people are on the same number of points and their league places being decided by the old average score system where a player could be above another just because they missed a game or two which improved their average.
  18. He's still recovering from a knee injury, but making 'good progress' according to the Club earlier in the week.
  19. Maybe there's a GOD after all !!!
  20. Folks, I'm posting this in a new thread here so that nobody taking part in the GPL misses it. I've just completed a significant update to the format of the GPL results & standings tables in Excel and now we have a more advanced template which provides more information and in a clearer presentation. It's something I've been meaning to do for a while and simply had to do it before the season progressed any further because the system of players on the same number of points being separated by their average score or names in alphabetical order made absolutely no sense. So, check out the new league standings table format below, tell me what you think and if anyone has any questions please ask.
  21. The lad has obvious talent, but he needs to keep is head up more often and improve his number of pass completions instead of watching the ball at his feet and running straight into opposition defenders.
  22. Any takers for writing a Gers v Falkirk preview?
