  1. I just have my doubts over how much game time Clark and Gallagher will get in a league which will be tough and very competitive given the fact we NEED to get promotion.
  2. I just hope that if this role does indeed become a genuine role in the club - that the proper boundaries are clarified between McCoist and this person. I for one would rather see this person lead in terms of scouting and player acquisitions but i am not convinced McCoist will see it that way!
  3. I think this would be a great appointment if we could pull this off! He has experience from a massive club like Bayern Munich and was involved in the signing of some of the fantastic players they have today - so he knows how to spot a player or two! Also read this morning he has spent time studying at the Munich School of Business and has a very meticulous approach to his work - which i think is something sorely lacking from Rangers FC these days. I would be delighted if this came to pass.
  4. I do think that they are gambling with the matchday income in that they anticipate it will cover the running costs. Problem is that we have seen last season that we have burned through a lot of cash and since we dont have a great deal to show for it - we are left to assume that by the board taking this approach with the income - they wont be investing in much this season and will only try and hang. My opinion is now that DK NEEDS to come out and make more than a statement - a gesture of some kind. With this news coupled with the Share Issue news over the past week, it is clear that things are not really hanging together well and i cant help but think that the 'conflicting messages' must form part of the strategy to try and draw out some potential buyers or investors. Might be wishful thinking though.... DK to volunteer to underwrite this share issue if he is allowed to?? That gesture would certainly throw the ball back in the boards court.
  5. This news isn't really surprising but i was expecting fewer to be sold IMO. Despite the 33% increase in ticket prices - it might be worthwhile noting that the board may be planning on the remaining 17,000 season ticket holders (or a proportion of) will be opting to attend matches on a game by game basis which as we know, would result in an increase in the ticket revenue across the season. However due to the cash reduction from the ST sales, there will be a shortfall in the cash levels across the season which does tie in with the statement in the fact that cuts will be made to try and minimise the outgoings, It really is grim but it wouldn't surprise me if the board are comfortable knowing that fans will turn up game by game, especially since Hearts and Hibs are in the same league as we are.
  6. Initial guesses would be larger capacity stadium, better merchandising arrangements (no JJB / Sports Direct deal), better transfer window performance (McGeady, Wanyama, Hooper to name a few) and the fact that we have had to pay for our land in the past (tongue in cheek!).
  7. i thought our new home would be based on the new Crawley Town top. http://www.footballshirtculture.com/14/15-Kits/crawley-town-2014-2015-puma-home-football-shirt-kit.html
  8. Cant say I am overly keen on the superimposed Union flag on the top. It reeks of old 90's style tops which are fine for being 'retro' and for nostalgic recollections - but I think it looks a bit naff!
  9. Oh well - there goes the 50K appearance fees Rangers would be due for him being at WC!!
  10. Surely if King was looking to 'make a play' for control - we would be hearing about it through the media. I mean if there was soundbites and statements from him about how bad things are and that the board have been ignoring requests for information from fans groups etc. then surely that may help his end game by driving down the share price or making investors a bit nervous?? The silence just now is very worrying.
  11. Problem is that some of the younger talent we manage to identify and sign (despite no real scouting network) don't tend to develop into major players we can get a good fee for - the seem to remain average players for the most part. Doesn't help when we are still in the lower echelons of Scottish football and not on the european stage.
  12. What worries me is that the topic of this petition is completely unacceptable and should never be allowed to pass. But we can only get 7000 signatures to this cause?? Doesn't exactly demonstrate a unified approach.
  13. I know mate - totally wishful thinking! Wieghorst - jeez they aint exactly moving up any classes in the looks dept if they employ him as a replacement for Lennon!
  14. Read on twitter that Brian Laudrup has left his pundit role at TV3 as "he has chosen a job opportunity not compatible with position" Our new Director of Football?? (He says knowing its not a realistic thought - but purely wishful thinking!!)
  15. So its a case of he will depart the first time he has any real challenge.....makes the three titles he has won seem rather hollow then doesn't it?
  16. It is an interesting point about the 'third' group of supporters who are caught in the middle and have not yet declared their intentions. As the OP suggests, I also believe that there will be a segment of the support who will be put off by the current style of football etc. I also think that this portion of supporters (whom i consider myself to be part of) would have taken great interest in the actions of Ann Budge yesterday in how after controlling Hearts for short time - has managed to ring much needed, albeit perhaps brutal, changes to the way the club will be moving forwards. I believe this is what Rangers needed for the past 2 years and I have wondered how the three groups identified in the OP would react if a similar exercise took place at Ibrox. It was also interesting to note the responses of some of the HMFC fans over the announcements - for one of the first times in their efforts to save their club....there was a visible, albeit slight, divide of opinions which has been reserved only for Rangers supporters over our recent history. Perhaps the board of Rangers and Dave King may have been paying some attention to these events and are currently considering their next moves.....
  17. I find it fascinating looking at our squad list and their contract expiry dates. It is interesting to note the number of players (especially defenders) that will be out of contract come our return to the top flight, notwithstanding any contract renewals.
  18. Not meaning to hijack this thread with 'Players I expect Ally to go for' but I noticed that Cuellar has left Sunderland. Another from the Rangers Squad circa 2008 that seems to be strangely 'available' these days....
  19. Agreed. Its the experienced players from hearts that are being released so they will be right up Ally's street i would think.
  20. King NEEDS to do something other then just come out with a statement containing more questions we know the board will not answer. Fans are pinning their hopes on him - if he is not prepared to step up and do something then he needs to call it a day and the club can try and progress.
  21. I read a rumour somewhere that Alan Hutton was keen on making a return to Rangers next season. Cant see much in this one personally, but it was floating about a few weeks ago.
  22. That's a good point. Great opportunity with the Games coming up. I also hope that the Ibrox store doesn't let us down with a poor selection of sizes for when Ibrox is being used for the Rugby 7's!! I think we need to try and make the most of this opportunity given the amount of freebies that Celtic have benefited from the Games.
  23. Early questions from folk I follow are relating to the bonuses and commercial contracts.
