  1. Since 1992, the Suns have played their home games at Talking Stick Resort Arena in downtown Phoenix. http://www.talkingstickresort.com/ "The Talking Stick is a tool used in many Native American Traditions when a council is called. It allows all council members to present their Sacred Point of View. The Talking Stick is passed from person to person as they speak and only the person holding the stick is allowed to talk during that time period. The Answering Feather is also held by the person speaking unless the speaker address a question to another council member. At that time, the Answering Feather is passed to the person asked to answer the query. Every member of the meeting must listen closely to the words being spoken, so when their turn comes, they do not repeat unneeded information or ask impertinent questions." http://www.firstpeople.us/FP-Html-Legends/TraditionalTalkingStick-Unknown.html Methinks the pipes are smoking and a pow wow is imminent.
  2. I was at the match as well, at the other stairway at the Copland Road end; there but for the grace of god.
  3. Surely you'll be there to welcome the new investors including your pal and confidant, Mr King.
  4. I don't know or care to know anything about Toxic Jack, Merlin, McMurdo, Old Uncle Tom Cobley and all but Rangers are going to require more or less a new team at the end of this season whether we gain promotion or not. Regardless of whether we are in the SPFL next season that team will need to be upgraded gradually over the next two or three seasons at least until hopefully we start to feature regularly in Europe again and can become self-financing. So it is a legitimate question to ask of Ashley, Los Tres Amigos, or any other individual or group of individuals seeking to gain control of the Club, exactly how much and by what means they intend funding the re-establishment of the Club from it's current hand to mouth existence.
  5. Difficult to see how he would have the time given all his other directorial responsibilities.
  6. Brentford are a Club who through foresight, persistence and good management are punching above their weight and with a new stadium now approved and the ambition to seek out future international stars like Mcleod will continue to improve. It would be no surprise to see them in the EPL in the next season or two, where as a London club they may well attract significant new investment. Whether they could retain a place is another matter but I am sure they it a won't be for the want of trying. Compare and contrast. .........
  7. This story may not be entirely without foundation. Whilst it beggars belief that ANYONE would view Ally McCoist as a manager, never mind an EPL manager, Ashley is not renowned for putting football ahead of profit. I wrote at the time that I would be surprised if Ally had resigned without an alternative in mind (despite having a year's "protection") and TV seemed the obvious choice; but more importantly that Rangers paying for a year's gardening leave was untenable. That said I didn't expect Ashley's solution to be giving the job to McDowall. However, the Warnock situation is new and McCoist going to Newcastle seems too much like a fairy tale but......... Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew could be on his way to Crystal Palace after the two clubs entered into talks. BBC Sport has learned discussions have taken place about Pardew becoming Palace's new boss in succession to Neil Warnock, who was sacked on Saturday. But reports of an agreement between the clubs over a £2m compensation deal for the 53-year-old are said by one source to be wide of the mark. The negotiations between the two clubs were continuing on Monday evening. Palace are without a manager after dismissing Warnock just four months into his second spell in charge at Selhurst Park. Thomas backs Palace pursuit of Pardew Geoff Thomas, a former Palace team-mate of Pardew, told BBC Radio 5 live: "Somebody like Alan coming in, who's got history with the club, I would imagine a majority of Palace fans would welcome him and that will give him a good start. January is a massive month and he's got the experience of working in the deadline scenario, so it's a great choice." The Eagles are in the Premier League relegation zone after winning only three league games this season. Keith Millen, who worked under Warnock and predecessors Tony Pulis and Ian Holloway, acted as caretaker for Palace's 0-0 draw with Queens Park Rangers on Sunday and had expressed an interest in the job. Pardew has been Newcastle manager since December 2010 and is currently the fourth longest-serving manager in English football. The former Reading, West Ham, Southampton and Charlton boss steered Newcastle to a fifth-placed finish in the Premier League in 2012 and is under contract at St James' Park until 2020. They are currently ninth in the table ahead of a home game against Burnley on New Year's Day, having ended a run of three Premier League defeats with a 3-2 victory over Everton on Sunday. However, Pardew has strong links with Palace having spent four years playing in their midfield from 1987. He scored the winning goal as the Eagles beat Liverpool 4-3 after extra-time in a 1990 FA Cup semi-final and played in the final and the subsequent replay as Manchester United won 1-0. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30626587 Tony Pullis to Newcastle seems much more likely.
  8. I am confident that a lot of people will AGREE with your comments but if you know why I was "removed" from the RFB please let me and everyone else know. My thought process has never been "mainstream" and I am certainly not prepared to meekly agree with folk just to get an easy ride here or elsewhere.
  9. I think there may well be a lot of truth in that; as they appear to be making much of the concession already granted.
  10. As jhunter points out in terms of the SFA Articles it does not matter a jot because it is clear that by getting agreement to appoint two people to the Board, one of whom has now beaten off all competion to become the CEO, he already exerts control.
  11. I've been insulted 3 times in the past 24 hours or so on here and only one such has been deleted by you but two of my retorts responding to accusations of lack of sincerity, lack of honour and insanity have been deleted, whilst the last two accusations remain untouched.
  12. I doubt he had much choice, rbr. Getting the SFA up from 3% to to 10% was a major feat and he probably reckoned, that'll do for now. Allegedly it was an "informal" meeting but it seemed to produce a pretty formal decision and the precise reasons therefore must have been minuted and should be open top scrutiny. If I read the SFA Articles correctly, if it was a formal decison then he could Appeal and, given that the SFA Board are the normal Appellate Court so to speak, it would seem they would be obliged to refer to The Judicial Panel. It's not clear to me whether or not such an Appeal could only be on a point of procedure or if it it would effectively re-hear the application. In any event I don't see Ashley giving up without a fight.
  13. GS appears to think that was just the first tranche but not sure if he has evidence to support that; no doubt he will enlighten us.
  14. That's not the point GS. The point is that no one was jumping about when Romanov filled Hearts with Kaunas players and yet, if the Telegraph are to be believed, the possibility of Ashley sending up some Newcastle players was a major reason for the SFA decision against him increasing his stake.
  15. I was well aware of his involvement in MTZ Ripo/FC Partizan Minsk. The comment "While he was ultimately recognised as the “Owner and Operator” of Hearts" proves my case. You don't have to be a major sharehoilder in order to be able to exert influence and I was not referring to SPL Rules. I can do with out your insults thank you very much.
  16. Wow, never heard of her before. Check out her "auld lang syne"
