  1. Almost certainly a sale of that size would have to have been a matched transaction, so if it wasn't Stockdale then it would be consistent with rumours I am hearing that at least one of the major investors wants out. 35p is not out of the question in the short term.
  2. There are some who do seem to take a perverse delight in being critical, ultra critical in some cases, at every conceivable opportunity; but in this case the criticism is very well deserved IMHO. I can only think that the collar design is a poor attempt at some kind of fashion statement and a short sleeved polo shirt with a new mini button down collar might just work from that perspective but not with a great big 32 Red logo stuck on the front. I feel sorry for the laundry department who will have to unbutton and re-button the collars every time the strips get washed.
  3. They seem to have been Wednesday but in any event there must be a willing buyer out there because the price is holding up at 31p
  4. You will be more than welcome; keep watching this space.
  5. No but you have to stand until the organiser is seated.
  6. If anything McLeod looks to be carrying a few extra pounds.
  7. I know that button down collars started on "polo" shirts to stop the collars flapping when the players were riding about and they look great on smart casual shirts but they are pointless and look absolutely awful on these very small collars. I don't see the point of shorts down to the players knees; don't look athletic at all and might be a little restrictive as well. I agree on the shade of blue. I am pretty sure that in the past it was darker and described as Royal Blue and at some point it got lighter and we became described as the "Light Blues". Hope I'm not starting another "aye ready" type controversy here.
  8. And he just voted to give "preferred" status to build 190 houses on the greenbelt at Redmoss Farm in Milton of Campsie; despite the fact that there were more objections to building on this site than the rest of East Dunbartonshire put together. Not that that has anything to do with football, just a personal rant from a concerned local resident!
  9. How much is a statue? Roughly even? Interesting that one name hasn't come up as far as I can see and that is James Scotland (Scot) Symon, mainly a reserve player for 9 seasons but as Manager for 13 seasons won "six League championships, five Scottish Cups, and four League Cups. He also took Rangers into European football for the first time, guiding the team to two unfortunately losing Cup Winners Cup finals in 1961 and 1967." Of course his record doesn't stand comparison with Bill Struth but he's up there nonetheless IMHO, might be on the list for a statue. An absolute gentleman in the Struth mould, I met him a few times when he was General Manager of Partick Thistle. Remind me to tell you about the night I got locked in Firhill, think I'll keep that for the dinner.............................
  10. And we are all looking forward to the pleasure of your company
  11. Yes, I agree. Failure of any Admin (living in the UK!) to turn up must surely result in a serious fine for the drink kitty and a warning as to future conduct.
  12. I don't agree with a "John Greig Corner", he deserves more. If Struth is our greatest manager, then Greig is our greatest player; both deserve the same honour. Greig already has a statue and as a meeeting place it is commonly referred to as THE JOHN GREIG. Since there are only four corners, "Over time (we would indeed) run out" of them but "Corners" just doesn't sound right to me. Who deserves a statue? Not an easy question to answer. I found this in an online essay "To deserve a monument or a statue, a person should accomplish something really outstanding and significant for the city, the country, or the whole world." In a footballing sense one might substitute "Club" for "City" especially one such as ours divided by football ; and few, if any, would deserve a worldwide accolade. Speaking to the press on 9 May 2014, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho claimed Frank Lampard deserves a statue outside Stamford Bridge. There is a UK list here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_association_football_statues Sir Matt Busby and Sir Alex Ferguson, George Best, Denis Law, Bobby Charlton, Billy Bremner, Bob Shankly, Jock Stein, Jim Baxter.................... Again, I don't think it would be disrespectful to say that Sandy Jardine, does not come into quite the same category. But who else in Rangers history would deserve such an honour? Frankly it would be hard to argue against our record goalscorer being being high up any such list. But statutes or not, I still say that John Greig and Willie Waddell are on a different level. What more fitting tribute than the (John) Greig End and the (Willie) Waddell End. The Rangers Hall of Fame criteria http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rangers_F.C._Hall_of_Fame also is relevant in this respect, though it doesn' specifically refer to of off field activities it includes "Service to the club". It should also be noted that Jardine was one of the judges. In terms of an Avenue of Statues on Edmiston Drive, let's say in terms of appearances for example: there are 11 men with 500+ appearances for the Club (and it IS noteworthy that Jardine is second only to JG in that respect and the only other man over 600). Two of the early names in particular stand out on that list: Sandy Archibald and David Meiklejohn. I feel an article coming on.
  13. Yes, I did make that clear at the outset though! I trust we'll have the pleasure of your company this time.
  14. Could get you a mortgage!
  15. That might have been a way to do it but as some have commented there are not that many alternatives in the area. However if I'd done it that way; I might have been accused of splitting any non-Malaga Tapas votes; doing it the way I did it gives a clear choice between there and anywhere else at all. Let's say there were 10 votes and 4 went to Malaga Tapas and 2 to each of three other choices; MT would win even although it was not favoured by 6-4. The way I've done it, any non Malaga Tapas votes are combined and can vote it down and then I'll do a new poll amongst the alternatives suggestions. So on the whole, I think the way I did it was best but if anyone thinks it's unfair please say. I want this to be an even bigger success than the first one, wherever it's held.
  16. Not sure which is worse, the top, the lemon boots or the weather.
  17. #ALICANTE #VILLA HALF PRICE! 2007 cost €350,000 inc pool. Stg equivalent price now <£175,000 http://www.gspc.co.uk/property/217330/ … pic.twitter.com/mezTsNDZUH [/img] [/img] [/img] https://twitter.com/AlanHarrisSpain or PM me for more information. Anyone who can retweet again would be much appreciated.
  18. Hey so you did and somebody else did as well, so apologies. I didn't see the votes though I set it up; because I hadn't voted myself! Well that makes three of us to drink rbr's money; anyone else?
  19. Three days and not one vote. Do I take that as: an endorsement for Malaga Tapas? nobody is bothered where we have it? nobody is bothered whether we have it or not?
  20. I think it's going to be a great day/night out; glad I got the train and hotel booked early doors. I know FS will be there on Friday night, any other Gersnetters fancy dinner and/or a night out on the Friday?
