32 Red are certainly getting value for their buck.

True but whatever you think of Wallace I doubt he'd allow the same profligacy as Whyte or Green for that matter.

Cribari has left the building.

Summer transfer window: Official ins/outs and transfer rumours

Not exactly his fault; poor show if Gers fans have been abusing him. -
You are never satisfied (which is sometimes fine) but right now we have to be realistic. Zaliukas is proven at SPL level and was captain of Hearts. That's about as good as it gets right now. How do you know we can't afford him, how much is he being paid then; it's self evident that we can. I would think a lot less than Jig or Cribari for that matter. Don't you think he's better than Cribari, so can't you accept it as a step in the right direction?
-
Perhaps because he's still 30 rather than over 30? But more likely even at 31 he should be more than good enough for our first season back in the SPL so saves any hassle next summer. However, it's good we have back up because his disciplinary record is far from impressive and you can probably count on him being red-carded once or twice a season.

Summer transfer window: Official ins/outs and transfer rumours

Hard to see a future for Gallagher now, which is a shame to say the least as he did not look out of place at the start of last season. Would not be shocked if Simmo got another deal next season. -
RANGERS Football Club can this afternoon confirm the signing of Marius Zaliukas on a two-year deal. The Lithuanian defender joined Ally McCoist’s squad in Brora last week and during his second trial spell with the club he impressed both in training and in a 45-minute run-out against Brora Rangers at Dudgeon Park. Having successfully completed his medical he will now travel with the League One champions to North America tomorrow. Zaliukas came close to agreeing a deal with the Light Blues last September but after training at Murray Park he moved to Elland Road instead. Prior to that the 30-year-old centre half spent seven years in Edinburgh with the Jambos and captained the club Rangers will face on the opening day of the Championship season at Ibrox. In total he played 220 times for Hearts following his move from FBK Kaunas in his homeland and scored on 14 occasions. Manager Ally McCoist has already added one central defender to his pool this summer with ex-St Mirren stopper Darren McGregor putting pen-to-paper on a one-year contract on June 11. With Kenny Miller and Kris Boyd also returning to Ibrox last month, Zaliukas’ decision to join Rangers is another boost for the manager and the club as the preparations continue for a massive year in Scottish football’s second tier. http://www.rangers.co.uk/news/headlines/item/7183-zaliukas-joins-gers Hopefully an end to Jig at the back, thank goodness. Zaliukas will surely be the No. 1 choice CB with Faure but more likely Mohsni.

Summer transfer window: Official ins/outs and transfer rumours

STEVE SIMONSEN has rejoined Rangers and admits he turned down the chance to be the number one goalkeeper at other clubs to do it. The former England under-21 has penned a one-year deal for the second season in a row after his previous agreement expired at the end of last term. Simonsen is expected to provide back-up to Cammy Bell once again in Ally McCoist’s squad, just as he did in 2013/14. There was interest in the 35-year-old from teams on both sides of the border including SPFL Premiership and Championship sides. But once the former Stoke City player got a call from McCoist asking him to return to Ibrox that was the only thing he wanted to do. Simonsen understands the likelihood is he’ll deputise for Bell again after making just three appearances against his team-mate’s 39 last time out. But he is simply thrilled to be part of the squad against and will travel with it to America and Canada on tour after turning out in the second half of the 4-2 closed-doors win over Fulham. Simonsen said: “I had a lot of other teams getting in contact and it was a little bit like buses this summer. “A few in England and Scotland got in touch but as soon as the manager expressed his interest in bringing me back here again it was a non-competition. “This was the only place I wanted to come to and there’s massive appeal here because I thoroughly enjoyed it at Rangers last season. “It’s a fantastic football club as everybody knows. When I got the call, I just told the manager I’d be here whenever he needed me. I couldn’t wait to get back. “I could maybe have gone somewhere else as the number one but I’m just delighted to be back and I’m looking forward to working alongside Cammy again.” http://www.rangers.co.uk/news/headlines/item/7181-simmo-signs-on-again A nice lad and a good goalkeeper but a ridiculous waste of money, to pay someone like that for perhaps one or two games a season, when there are three other goalkeepers at the Club who could take turns on the bench. One can only hope he's on less wages than last season (Perhaps the reason they kept him in limbo). May also be a sign that there are no other players in the offing, so the wages have been used for him. -
The Second Semi Annual Gersnet Dinner
BrahimHemdani replied to BrahimHemdani's topic in Rangers Chat
Fair warning the poll will close at 6.00pm on Sunday; I know that the result is as eagerly awaited as the WC Final. For anyone who is remotely interested in attending the dinner; the result is very close so your vote will definitely count. -
Surely a major apology due then.

Kind of you to say so; didn't see it, in fact deliberately avoided it; but doubt they would have wanted anyone from Gersnet to articulate our side of it!

Strips are important because they are the image of the club on the field and worn by many supporters; so good design and quality are essential. Some years back you might recall a particulalry awful 2-tone purple effort that I think we wore once at Firhill then binned them. I was on my feet at the next AGM saying they were embarrassing to look at and must have been doubly embarrassing for the players to wear. I went on to say that the Glasgow Rangers should always play in some combination of red, white and blue. That comment (though I say so myself) brought the house down and SDM had to agree. But there are some cobinations of red, white and blue that just don't look right and the horrible cheap nasty collar on the first shirt is an example and the thin strips of colour on both are another.

The bus driver, sorry kit man, sorry bus driver/kit man? I would think that Puma put forward two or three designs and Rangers pick the best ones??

Truly awful, look like cheap knock offs from the Barras.

From the same web site Argentina midfielder Javier Mascherano: 'I tore my anus' http://www.sbnation.com/lookit/2014/7/10/5887493/javier-mascherano-torn-anus-argentina-netherlands-world-cup A story that will surely spawn a million puns.

The interpretation of Clause 10 (g) "he has been disqualified as a director pursuant to the Company Directors’ Disqualification Act 1986 within the previous five years;" is obviously critical here. There is no doubt that it is meant to mean was a disqualified director within the previous five years and I very much doubt that the SFA or thier lawyers thought that anyone would ever seek to interpet it as referring to the date of disqualification rather than the fact of disqualification. It may not even have crossed their minds that it didn't mean what they thought it meant. Notwithstanding the comments about due diligence which McConville shows to be irrelevant, the SFA have questions to answer about the delay until October 2011 (if it is true that they didn't raise the issue before then) and the fact that they allowed the correspondence with Withey to drag on for four or five months until it was too late.

I can see the force of everything you are saying and also the suggestion elsewhere to use the RFFF money to pursue a case (somewhat better than the last suggestion IMHO). However, was the Murray £10m offer not in respect of the BTC? And HMRC rejected it presumably because they thought they could win big and I just don't see that a there would be any mileage in challenging that. I do think they would be well advsised to concede defeat at this point but as I also said they may not take that view. I do think that you make very valid points about the PAYE/NIC. Whyte was extremely plausible/the ultimate con man but HMRC pursue little people a lot faster. However, if you are paying quarterly it may well be 2/3 quarters before they start thinking about putting you into administration for non payment. That said he (and his lawyers) did the same to the SFA over proof of being fit and proper. If the SFA had been more aggressive on that......... I also said that I think it might be more fruitful to go against the SFA but I would open negotiations first if the lawyers determine we have an arguable case. I can see that a higher court may well remit the case back to the SFA for the reasons you state but I'm not sure that we could recover any monies unless the authorities could in turn recover those monies from oldco (so that the clubs who were owed still get their money). I am not a lawyer so I don't know. But IF the SFA acted reasonably at the time on the basis of the information before them then I would think they would have a decent defence. Also I don't see how you put a value on loss of status though you certainly could value the financial loss of playing in the lower divisions. As I said it certainly feels good to be on the moral high ground.

Leaving aside your comments about HMRC employees, the question would be against whom are we taking action and would the cost be worth any potential gain. HMRC had a reasonable case to pursue, some might say more than reasonable, but that's a dead end as far as Rangers are concerned, though hopefully we can apply for costs, if that's allowable and not automatic. Negotiations with the SFA might possibly be more fruitfull but I gave reasons why I doubt they will gain anything more than sympathy. Being right all along isn't going to get us back three years in the wilderness. You could say, as SDM implies, that if the BTC was not hanging over the Club it would have been worth a lot more; and then you could say he would have sold to someone else for more money; and then you could say that that person would have paid all the PAYE/NIC on time; and then we wouldn't have gone into administration; but that's all speculation. One thing is for sure it should strengthen our resolve to get back to where we belong asap and from that point of view I agree NO SURRENDER.
-
A reasonable person might say that given that they've lost twice and most recently on all three counts, it's hardly a good use of taxpayers' money to chase the game a third time. But then no one ever accused HMRC of being reasonable. They will most likely view it the other way - we've gone this far on an important point of principle, we may as well see it through to the end.

I made a point about free membership being meaningless in terms of numbers and I gave two examples one of whom I certainly did have an interest in, but I can only assume that you don't wish to take up the debate; just find fault with my posts. If there's a pattern forming in my posts then it's taken you almost four years and nearly 5,000 posts to figure it out. But let me help you on that. I support the Rangers and have done for 57 years. I have followed them all over Scotland and to 21 countries in Europe (and I am well aware that others have a longer and greater record). I support the Club, not any one player, manager, director or other employee or investor; because no one of these or any Board is more important than the Club and the Club will be around long after I and the present Board are forgotten. So long as this forum allows me I will criticise individuals or groups who IMHO are doing harm or potentially could do harm to the Club I love. I also support fan influence in the running of relevant aspects of the Club and ultimately fan ownership though I think that is a long way off and I have been involved in two groups who have worked to that end. Obviously you are free to support whoever you wish and to state your views accordingly but please do not try to find some sinister motive in my posts, where none exists. Thank you.

It is indeed except that it's out of date now in respect of the BDO case v Collyer Bristow. Two victories in one day, whatever next.

You said that I "know full well who has helped out financially." and I think you might concede now that I didn't know at all. Would you now like to answer the first part of my reply?

I am not interested in SoS or UoF, why would I do any research on them?

I am a member of RF, I don't hold any position in any fans group at present and am not privy to any such information. I certainly wasn't aware that Mr Smillie was a donor (assuming that is who you mean by AS?)
