  1. With regards to what's happening on the pitch, I can't disagree with any of that tbh. We have missed the chance to turn a huge negative into a feekin massive positive IMO by not restructuring our long term coaching/playing strategy. Once again we have looked to the hugely dissapointing trait that has been far too prevelant with 21st Century Rangers...myopic short termism. For once we don't have the pressure cooker stress of the weekly Old Firm title challenge to deal with so we should be setting out a long term strategy on the park that will last more than a year or two. Seriously...what the feek is the point of merely grinding our way throught the lower divisions without learning anything? I've read so much over the last few weeks about McCoist and why it's going wrong. "It's the players fault...they're not pulling their weight" Surely it's up to the manager to sort that out? "The players don't look fit..." Once again, up to the management and the coaches. The buck always stops with the manager IMO. He's is the one who harnesses the entire vision for the what the players are doing on the park. I watched Ortiz play V Real Madrid on saturday and was thinking...how can a player that looked so bad here play in La Liga? How did he manage to go backwards at Ibrox? For Ortiz see also...Templeton, Sheils. I've also seen posts about who we can buy after the embargo is lifted. Is that really going to solve anything? What's the point in signing more players that we can play out of position and crow bar into a failing playing system. Money is not the answer here for me. If you look at what Pressley has done at Falkirk with the young players and their recognisable style of play, you have to wonder why can't we do that?
  2. The first thing we need is a new coach. Preferably one with no Rangers connections IMO
  3. I would tend to agree with you about this but is Radio Clyde still a "public" platform? Is it not just a sounding board for the mad Mhanks to moan about Rangers? I presume not many Rangers fans listen to the Clyde open line now rendering it utterly pointless IMO in terms of balance.
  4. If Brian Laudrup is coming back in any capacity, the first thing we should do is start a sperm bank at Ibrox and get him a few copies of Razzle. His DNA could support our youth system for the next 40 years...
  5. It's their whole philosophy that excites me. If Laudrup moves on or doesn't work out they will stick to their guns and only try to get a manager that will play a certain way. It's about bedding in an ethos that is prevelant throughout the club from the youth teams to the front teams. When you see our teams over the last 5/6 years it makes you wonder what we actually do in training? The final straw for me IMO was the signing of Kevin Kyle. It was a surefire sign that we were going to continue to lump it long. Despite over 60 odd games of games providing us with the conclusive evidence that this doesn't work, it is still has been a trademark of Ally's stewardship. It's almost as if we've said we are in the bottom tier so we have to play ugly to win. Utter ballacks! We've seen many teams come to Ibrox and play on the deck this year.
  6. Not going to sift through the 200 pages of this thread...(sorry) so here's my tuppence worth. In response to the original question, the simple answer is no. I genuinely feel we have missed a massive opportunity to really make a change that would help us build a solid foundation for the next 5/10 years. We had the chance to reboot our whole footballing ethos and start again but IMO we have gone for the safe option and kept the same old faces from yesteryear that are simply churning out the same dross that we've suffered for too long. I am truly sick of hearing about the same old excuses. How it's the other teams cup final etc. Ally has had his hands tied etc. That simply isn't good enough. I feel that if we were seeing progression on the pitch we would accept where we are more. We need to see a visible philosophy. A tangible vision that we could buy into and not just grinding results to climb the lower leagues. WTF is the point of that? So we simply climb back into the SPL (or whatever it will be?) and have learned nothing? Charles Green has the fans turning out to support their team through a mixture of loyalty and defiance at the moment but IMO that will not last if the product does not get better. I saw one post mention Swansea and their vision excites me. From Martinez to Rodgers to Laudrup they have gone out of their way to promote a particular philosophy and have stuck with it. I wish we could adopt a similair vision
  7. Is that a real letter? Deary me. As much as I feel that any tribute to the Forces could maybe be transfered to a different weekend/date I genuinely don't get the connection between this an Orangism? And while I am at it, I personally don't follow the Orange Order but surely calling it "poisonous" is a bit OTT? If they are a Protestant fratenity then it's obvious they wouldn't have Catholics as members? That's their choice surely? Would the same writer have found the visit of the Pope and his entourage to our country as equally repugnant? After all we welcomed him with open arms despite a litany of cover-ups of child abuse as well as truly vile program of hate focused on the gay community. And then we were asked to fork out for it.
  8. Is Galloway still an MP? Which gullable Islamic heavy community does he represent now? The guy is a joke and an egomaniac and after his "rape" comments, I'm surprised people pay attention to him tbh
  9. It would just be an extension of the Old Boys network
  10. Bayern and erm....Borussia Dortmund, who have a won the last 2 Bundesligas... Germany have also had 5 different winners of their top league over the last 10 years. Is it really about just competing for the league? Germany have packed stadiums every week based on sensible pricing and most of the teams know they won't win it. It surely all about a league that has an overall higher standard
  11. Although our geography is somewhat different from Ireland, I feel there is much we can take from their Gaelic sports and the way they are distrubuted into regional teams. Let's day that if we went on the premise that Rangers, Celtic, Hibs and Hearts could maybe hold their own you could make up a Premier League with regional teams. ie: 1. Rangers 2. Celtic 3. Hearts 4. Hibs 5. Dundee/Perthshire combined (Utd, Dundee, St. johnstone, Arbroath etc.) 6. Aberdeenshire (Aberdeen with all the small teams) 7. Ayrshire (Killie, Ayr etc.) 8. Lanarkshire (Motherwell, Hamilton, Airdrie) 9. Central region (Livingston, Falkirk, Stirling etc.) 10. Glasgow (Clyde, Queens P, Partick) 11. Borders 12. Highlands 13. Inverclyde (St. Mirren, Morton, Dumbarton etc.) IMO we need a radical new dawn to save our game and this is the only way to do it. We need a major cull of teams to enable a road ahead and a competitve league. Having 40 odd teams for a country of our size is just lunacy. With the money raised from ground sales, you could make sure that all these regional teams have training facilties that will have academies and up to speed training grounds. It will never happen but IMO this is the only way forward
  12. It's funny how the dhims supposed love for their beloved selik is so thinly vailed and just translates as bitter, paranoid and myopic bile agianst Rangers. Welcome to our world Mr Keys
  13. Did his statement actually say relocate to England? I presume he's only talking about the location of where we would play as opposed to actually taking up a stadia down south? If it's not Ibrox, it's not Rangers
  14. Why wait until the scrapping of the SPL? Get rid of him now
  15. With regards to sueing etc. I thought about this after these crazy proposals were set out. Surely there is a case for this as the product that people have bought tickets for has been altered without their consent? Is their season ticket not a form of binding contract?
  16. â??We have to go with the proposal that is on the table for the time being before anything is decided" Eh? So you are considering one proposal before deciding on eh.....one proposal? Jeso, this is comedy gold. Rangers were criticised for voicing their concern without offering an alternative... They offer an alternative and now they're muddying the waters... What's it to be FFS? Muddying the waters? The waters are black as far as I can see....
  17. When I was playing for Celtic and Davie Hay was manager he once famously said we should go to England because the club wasnâ??t getting a fair shake from the gameâ??s authorities. Rangers are in that position now and, unless thereâ??s common sense shown sooner rather than later, it will be fairer to let both of them go. Aye but Murdo, Davie Hay was just doing the Celtic thing. ie. being pathetic and paranoid and had zero evidence to justify his stupid rant about bad decisions whereas we have been openly shafted by all and sundry... A wee bit of a difference
  18. Is there not an downside to these "megabucks" Nike deals? Is it not the case that they take a hefty amount of commission/percentage of sales? I'm sure that is the reason Rangers went elsewhere after their five year stint with NIke. Rangers tops were one of their biggest sellers all over the world but the club got very little of the actual profit? Don't quote me on this as I'm just recalling an interview I read with the then European marketing guy Brian Marwood (now at Man City). I also might be talking complete cobblers....
  19. Whatever happens in the future for Scottish football surely the first thing they have to consider when talking about reconstruction is the amount of teams. We need to get to a position where we have 10/12 decent regional teams that have decent stadiums and centralised training complexes. The idea that we can support about 40 teams is farcical. For example we need to get to a position where we have one team from the Highlands, Aberdeenshire, Dundee/Tayside, Stirlingshire, Ayrshire, Borders, another Glasgow side, Inverclyde etc. etc.
  20. Saying that... to totally contradict my first post...maybe much of these figures are based on sales? If we have a product that fans consider cheap/poor they might not buy it in the same numbers as a Rangers /Adidas tie in for example?
  21. "got a text from a mate who works for a large sportswear manufacturer telling me rangers have signed a 5 year kit deal with macron, the italian outfit who sponsor villa, west ham, napoli et al, that could be worth up to 15m with add ons and will be announced imminently. Starting next year, 2.5 for two years with uplifts based on market exposure and sales" If this is true it seems like a decent deal considering where we are at the mo. Macron may not have the Nike/Adidas profile but i suppose money talks...
