  1. Good to see that the image the scottish media paint of us "big bad protestants" (regardless of your religion as a bear!) is not being spread further afield. Telling a lie often enough doesn't make it true, and I'm glad those outside our media aren't fooled by Peter Lawell (sp) and his whips!
  2. I think its important for the stature of the club to be competeing in the latter stages of europe. Thats 3 years running we've made it to the last 16 of Euro competition. Remember when we had valencia in one of our champions league groups? and we got slated for not beating them? well after getting to the semi's that year, and continually being involved in the business end of euro comps they raised their profile and went from strength to strength. even if they have had a blip or two. Seeing Rangers in the hat, and on the highlights in the latter stages is a great way to attract quality foreign players that might be put off by the reputation of the SPL. Out of the teams left in the Uefa Cup I would by no means say we are the best and we are definitely not favourites. What I would say is that we are probably the hardest team to beat. If we can get past one of the favourites for the trophy, and stick to our strengths, I dont see what would be stopping us going one better than the tims 5 years ago (- well 2 better, the league is coming home too! ) I'm not saying "Rangers will win the UEFA cup" just saying if we keep performing the way we have been, and take each game as it comes, why not believe?
  3. last time they sold semi tickets to season ticket holders only, but you were allowed to buy two (on top of your CCCS one) - meant my brother and myself could take our dad for his birthday! Anyone know if that's the case again?
  4. Timmy; If they didn't exist, you couldn't make them up!!
  5. When has that stopped you before?!
  6. Cos Falkirk aren't involved in the UEFA cup?? Good News bud hopefully a good break after what they said with the other interview! crap timing tho! I'm counting on you getting a job at the gers so i can get to meet the players and get inside news. I'm giving you a 10 year deadline....
  7. think the boy in the blue is graham smith the 3rd keeper. Darche looks like he's wearing a baseball jersey - can't make out the logo tho!
  8. bit off topic but related in a sense... why is it when you compare the shades of blue on the scotland flag and the union jack it seems to be more often than not that the blue on the saltire is lighter?! they are meant to be the same blue are they not?!
  9. I wish the transfer was completed in may I hate the way the media can print what they like and get away with it, influencing the opinion of thousands. This guy appears to be an absolute joke!
  10. he's done it with NI captaining the sides that beat those wee teams... who was it? albania and san marino? or was it England and Spain?!! He also did enough to warrant a £4m transfer from a club who he was awarded POTY... And im sure if any of us got the chance to play for the gers we'd give that 10% extra! I hope he's decent, if not like craig says, he should be good addition to the squad to add to the 3 (maybe charlie too) that are already there!
  11. Is that not a really bad scenario for Rangers? despite all the debate about how good/useful/dedicated cousin is, do you think we'll manage to get by with who is left? There is no chance of signing a replacement next week! One can only hope that this would open the door for buffel...
  12. cheers for info. well its good in the sense that if they have a rule, they should enforce it. but on the other hand its disgusting that they do whats necessary for liverpool, because they're a "big team". Personally I think losing a striker with no replacement could have been very costly... and looking at who we were targeting, I would take cousin over the italian boy! RAGING at hutton being forced out - but if you exclude that from the equation its been a fairly acceptable transfer window! and would have been happy with the ins and outs. but RAGING about the hutton thing! (all the best to him tho - if he keeps playing they way he does, would love to see him back!)
  13. The more i hear about the italian guy the more relieved i am we never signed him. If it had been a case of swapping Ugo for Daily, Alexander for Carrol and adding Davis to the midfield I'd have been very happy. Disappointed to lose Hutton as would have hoped to hold out until summer. Also If cousin goes it would have been nice to be able to replace him. £12mil in or so and only spent 1/2 a mil. Any guesses who the happiest man connected with rangers is tonight?
  14. i think people with "sources" are in a no win situation. all they seem to get is hassle regardless of how legit the source. cheers for trying to share the info to those with sources! makes interesting reading - even if it doesnt come true gives us a *potential* insight as to what is happening that we may not be hearing about or possibly saves us hearing it from alternative sources with other agendas/motives
  15. more interesting than some professions tho!
  16. i wouldnt have minded a wee jolly over to italy. the food there is amazing!
  17. you mean you think we will manage if we dont sign a franny jeffers or flippo manerio?! (or however you spelt it!) i admire your optimism...!
  18. well that all sounds rather reasonable so no doubt smith will have seen him scouting for scotland! As long as he's better than smith i'm happy - and if he's good enough to push AM then all the better
  19. was he first choice at ipswich? if not who was? is this the same goalkeeper that made it into scotland squads?
  20. be patient? hmmmm i dont know if i can be! If nothing is done by midnight 2moro i think we should just leave it...
  21. frankie, any news from the insider? What happened to our interest in larsen?
  22. saw the quote on the "news" thread so thought it was better to post thoughts on it here! (perhaps make the news thread a sticky?) How is it possible that it was all over the news here and even on the official site that FIFA said no when they apparently havent made a decision yet? someone send in a fake letter that got everyone stumped?! onto another point... why are fifa waiting so long to make a decision? surely they are aware of the tight time restrictions and implications of transfer deals at this time of year?! would man u or real have to wait as long to see if they could sign/sell an important (?!) player??
  23. would agree with that, would be especially pleased if he left for a club that is considered a top team e.g. man u. but what if next summer come rounds and he doesnt want to leave glasgow? whats wrong with a young player wanting to stay and win things for a few years? to the tune of the beatles yellow submarine... "F*** you Murray, Hutton wants to stay... Hutton wants to stay... Hutton wants to stay!!" :box:
  24. what does everyone else think of the hutton vs cash? Personally i think its great that a player is willing to stay and win things with the club he supports, while keeping his life settled which is a good thing for him and his young family. I would be very angry with the club if we forced him out to the first suitor, because lets face it, if he keeps playing this way he could go to just about any top side in europe - remember lazio were interested?? and with gary neville on his way out Man U is a very attractive possibility for Alan. surely its up to the lad himself to say where he wants to play? The media (and many fans) complain about the lack of loyalty and money grabbing players, we have the opposite here and i hope hutton sticks to his guns!
  25. If Hutton deal doesnt go through, will we still be signing him? using the cousin money perhaps? Anyone know how the 2 compare?
