Celtic star Aiden McGeady caught up in street clash

No-one should be assaulted. Regardless of who they are, or even in some trying circumstances what they have said. I just feel its hypocritical of those celebrities who think they are special and demand to be treated as such, and then complain and ask to be treated as normal. However I am not saying this is what has happened in this case. And as regard to footballers, they are paid ambassadors of their clubs, dealing with the fans is part of the job, and if privacy is what they are looking for then they should chose discrete locations (as I would do if I was looking for a quiet night!). Its more a celebrity thing as opposed to this specific case, they can't have their cake and eat it as they say! Maybe thats part of whats wrong in this society which sensationalises everything and celebrities are idolised to religious proportions. -

It is wrong that players have to deal with that sort of crap. BUT they are handsomely paid to be in the public eye. If its encroaching on their family that is unacceptable, but being asked for photo's or getting a song sung at them after a boozy night out? part and parcel of being a public figure IMO. Take the bad with the good if you chose that lifestyle! -
apparently he was in the gers end at parkhead on sunday, and the papers want cuellar gone... 2+2 = 5! (thats not 5 factorial for any of you smart-arses out there, although thats what the mhedia get sometimes! )

Pretty quick to blame football and ignore the ned culture destroying our country... -
Players must not reveal undershirts that contain slogans or advertising. The basic compulsory slogans or advertising. The basic compulsory equipment must not contain any political, religious or personal statements. A player removing his jersey to reveal slogans or advertising will be sanctioned by the competition organiser. The team of a player whose basic compulsory equipment contains political, religious or personal slogans or statements will be sanctioned by the competition organiser or by FIFA. I believe "bless the pope" is a slogan and is definitely a religious statement. Rules are rules after all! The manner in which he broke the rules doesn't bother me, but the fact he could get away without punishment does! But what a fud for doing that! appealing to the lowest common denominator in the all-inclusive, all-welcoming tim fan-base!
-
but it says he was voted by his fellow professionals? forgot about the league awards though I'm embarrassed to say! slight mistake by the author perhaps! Anyone know when the mhedia make their announcement for writers POTY?
-
Found this on the BBC, don't know what to make of it... Everyone knows he should have won POTY, but someone else had one good game against a very poor Aberdeen... and so the mhedia got to work on this campaign as their previous attempts to get it awarded to Brown failed when he played even worse than when he started... It would be good to see Weir make it, been a rock this year and thought he was excellent in the 1st leg! If not, King Carlos will keep whoever he plays alongside in check! Edit: link to article. Was correct as of 9am in case it gets changed...
-
bottom line is he broke the rules. there is a rule stating it is an offence to wear any sporting equipment with slogans or advertisements other than those on the strip. This includes political and religious views. It is annoying seeing the press this has been given, and almost embarrassing at how some bears have reacted to this. That's why he's done it! It would annoy him more for it to not bother the Gers fans. Saying that, rules are rules. If its not in the official report then it should be looked at in the same light as video evidence. I'm absolutely certain there have been cases of teams (i.e. us!) being punished for events not mentioned in official reports. and here's a link from the SFA site about the rule in question. Bit of a strange statement for an all inclusive club to make (or not make as the case may be!) by their failure to discipline their first choice goalkeeper (who has had 2 official investigations by the police for inflammatory gestures this season...

lol - got it downloaded mate! can shove that on DVD for you some time soon, might even just make the clip of your ugly mug on its own!!
-
Saw it on the highlights there! Cant believe it... I've been getting tickets for me, my brother and my dad and sitting together for the euro games... apparently Super_Ally's flatmate who used my season ticket for the Lyon game was on tv, and now tonight!! was awesome seeing the guys on the telly! Well done Super_Ally! Edit: its my seat thats the famous one!

lol - s_a is totally paranoid about this its hilarious!! enjoy the fame!!

wasn't his scotland bust-up while Smith was in charge? Decent player, but if signing players we need players to come straight in to the first 11, not the squad. O'Connor would be a squad player. Plus there is the attitude thing to. No thanks.

I await the andy davis treatment and special pull outs in the papers.
