    Fave XI

“Anyone think their team would manage to get the ball off my team?“ I haven’t finalised my selection but if Harold Davis is in it, then aye, no bother.
  2. City lose 1-0. They’ve gone off the boil, unable to pass to a teammate or to a killer space, not even David Silva. Liverpool should be ok at 2-0. A bit of luck for the first goal but a team earns luck if it presses hard enough.
  3. I’ve resisted the urge to divert this topic from the heroine but here goes. She most deservedly was given “a guard of honour by some of the best players to have ever played for the club”. Turn that round and it reads: “some of the best players to have ever played for the club gave her a guard of honour”. There it is. Iain Ferguson one of the best. Ofeeshell. What they really meant is “a guard of honour by players, some of them the best etc”. Anyway, well done Tiny Gallagher. I hope you’re training young folk to follow on.
  4. Well, it sounds good, doesn’t it? Taking steps to punish nasty people - that’s a bandwagon to be on surely, cracking the whip and playing lead trumpet. Trouble is, the trumpeters don’t understand strict liability and in the end of the day, nasty people go on being nasty.
  5. I know I shouldn’t have done it but I did. When I learned Rangers were ahead by two goals at halftime I switched on RS to hear if they were suffering. Gordon was yapping that if Rangers held on they would emulate Aberdeen and Kilmarnock yesterday and maintain the points gap. But after the split celtic would get he victory they need to secure the title. At which point I left.
  6. Saw about 30 minutes and the goals. Hibs the better team. Goals neatly created and finished though on another day you’d expect Horgan to sclaff the shots wide. Hibs could have prevented Hearts’ goal if the defender had watched his man properly instead of concentrating on obstructing him before the ball came in. Of course Hearts were still shell shocked from their midweek trouncing.
  7. City stumble past a pretty useless Brighton. No Aguero, no Sane but they still field a team of top class players under a top manager. Yet there they are, dawdling about, passing sideways and backwards. Playing a bit like Rangers. Livened up when Fernandhino came on with forward running and passing until he too fell in to a torpor.
  8. Thanks. Old geezers need guidance when it comes to these wee symbols. In fact, we need guidance full stop.
  9. True. But I think some harbour a hope that because one incident occurred in NYC the road is clear for a massive US Hollywood style payout. I fear that this hope like most others pining for the downfall of celtic, is unfounded.
  10. Is this you being provocative, BG? Surely not. I can’t see the badge in that photo. I’ve seen the photos of Bill Struth and Bobby Shearer wearing blazers the badges on which show “Ready” clearly.
  11. Do what everybody else does. Throw your hard earned down the drain. Just don’t waste hours beforehand scouring the racing pages or downloading Apps. It all comes to the same in the end. Net loss. Can be exciting up to the last furlong when the daft brute carrying your money decides it’ll just daunder the rest of the way.
  12. So’ton 0-2 Scousers Bournemouth 1-1 Burnley Town 1-2 Brendan’s Blues Newcastle 1-0 Palace Everton 2-2 Arsenal Chelsea 3-1Hammers Effy Cup: Brighton 1-3 Man City Watford 2-1 Wolves (hope I’m wrong)
  13. Great victory last night for the Wolves. Tonight: Chelsea 2-0 Brighton City 4-0 Cardiff And the double curse of the new stadium/gala occasion; Hotspurs (dominating play and raining shots on goal) 0-1 Palace. (89th minute offside breakaway)
  14. Edouard still had much to do after the mistake and the excellent pass. But what’s he doing? He runs to his own fans to celebrate. That’s not the celtic way. Kent’s goal and other aspects of his play reminded me of Lovenkrands. I suppose Jones will be his replacement next season.
  15. 2-0 to the Arsenal. Heard commentary on the last twenty minutes of an exciting game with what sounded like 20,000 Geordies making a helluva racket. Two collector’s items from the commentary: “what a tackle by the Arsenal defender” and “Osil battling hard for the ball”. Jings,
  16. Fixed that for you, old chap.
  17. I think your reply makes my point.
  18. If Gilchrist’s claims are true, idiots have given her a free pass to victimhood.
  19. Tav looks apprehensive in the video. I wish the ghost of Bobby Shearer would take possession of his mind for the afternoon.
  20. I didn’t read that through but I suppose the chimp stuff comes from some psycho bloke who has a theory that we’ve all got an inner chimp that makes us behave badly. Cooponthewing will know about it. Think of the image of oor Willie on his bucket, his good inner self with halo pictured at one ear saying “no, William don’t do that” and his bad inner self with devil’s horns leering at the other saying “aye, go on Wullie”.
  21. I didn’t get it right either, Compo. You’ll likely remember a time when this match could have been the old fashioned Division 1 league decider. You’ll maybe remember too when a burgeoning Liverpool beat Blanchflower’s Tottenham 5-2 on a Friday at Anfield with the scallies singing “London Bridge is falling down” then went down to the Lane on the Monday to get whacked 7-2
  22. Seems like an age, indeed. Since I got more than half right. Fulham 0-4 City Brighton 2-2 Southampton Burnley 1-3 Wolves Palace 3-1 Town Brendan’s Blues 2-0 Bournemouth United 1-1 Watford West Ham 2-2 Everton Cardiff 0-2 Chelsea Liverpool 3-1 Tottenham Gunners 2-0 Mags Another good Championship game tonight when the Albion will trounce Birmingham.
  23. That’s the final piece in an old fashioned half back line, you’ve got there. Nish, Punter and Tong. I like Punter in the middle. Some no nonsense clearances.
  24. No sad loss. The team will need defenders for this game.
