  1. I just can't see past Brazil. Not been beaten in a competitive match at home for 40 years?! Now that's a record!!
  2. He makes some pertinent points. Scottish footballs fall from grace has been steady and tragic for those who care for the game. I was watching a Dunfermline vs Rangers Scottish cup tie at East End Park from 1987 on YouTube and the ground was heaving full with 20,000 fans and a Rangers side containing Scottish and English Internationals were beaten 2-0. Nowadays, even when that club entered admin and were obviously struggling for survival, a derby game vs Raith Rovers attracted 6,000 spectators!! How do you reenergise enthusiasm with your fans who are so obviously disenfranchised with the going ones at their clubs? Lower prices? I honestly don't think that would work - long term. Scottish football is a victim numerous factors, including but not limited to; its past successes, the biggest league in the world on our doorstep, a pro English football media, an aging populous and a culture of immediate gratification leading to short-term thinking and actions. I honestly think that in 50 years, European football will be like the NFL in the USA with franchises in the big leagues and smaller leagues becoming 'colleges' or feeders for the big leagues. It's all about money now and as an ardent defender of Capitalism, I do think that sport should be more 'socialist' in its workings for the good of the game.
  3. I think England will surprise many. Purely because I've never witnessed a more negative build up to a football tournament with regards to their chances. I think for them to progress, they'll need to play the Liverpool lads and don't concern themselves too much about what the other team are capable of. I genuinely think that a lot of people are under rating the Three Lions.
  4. What a blow for Atletico. Can't see them recovering from conceding such a late goal with one hand already on the prize.
  5. Fulham have the same wage bill as Atletico and were assembled for £40m. Another example of a well run and efficient outfit. Hope they can close this out and win the CL now. Vamos Atletico!!
  6. For people to trust these guys after everything we have and are still going through just seems to me to be absolutely absurd. I remember being banned from FF for questioning Whyte, then banned again for saying that marching on Hampden was futile whilst Duff & Phelps sat at Ibrox, strangling the club from the inside for 6 months whilst they profited from our situation. Duff and Phelps were appointed by Whyte. Whyte directed them to Green Green raped the club whilst offering other the same opportunities afforded to himself as long as the weighed him in. These same faceless guys are still in the shadows The only way to flush them out is to starve them of the revenue that they desire and said revenue is the ONLY reason they are there. Sadly though, like amms, I do fear the worse, I can see no happy ending and think whatever the conclusion, it will be another kick in the balls to the fans.
  7. Well I probably won't watch as I've got errands to run but I do feel a pang of jealousy when I think of tomorrow's game. I was heading along Edinburgh road on Wednesday morning and my eyes were drawn to a strange object in the distance which looked like a spaceship!! As I drove closer to my work in Shettleston the large object became clearer and it was a giant inflatable Scottish Cup being flown/guided into Parkhead by a conventional Hot Air balloon and I thought 'what if?' Then tonight I was driving back from a meeting in Perth and a couple of Arab clad cars were heading into Glasgow to take in the the game. It could've been us and capped off an eventful season but it wasn't to be. I hope both sets of fans have a great day in what is a great year for the City.
  8. Archie was a 'Gers fan but I'm sure he said his boy 'wasn't'. Nevertheless, seems eager to play a style which is pleasing and hopefully he does well for himself.
  9. As Scott said above, I only saw the highlights but we looked pretty rubbish. Scott says that it looked like a Rangers house style has developed. I'd agree but I think it's been like this for over 10 years now. Terrible football, guys taking too long on the ball and making the wrong pass. Guys like Ferguson, Arteta and Mendes came to Rangers and looked world class, by the time they left, they wee slow in thought and in the pass. Only a root and branch clear-out will enbale us to progress, we're going nowhere fast.
  10. Poor Hearts 'keeper had a howler. At fault for both goals and missed the pen that won the game. Well played to the Rangers though.
  11. Most of the chat on here regarding our play is that we've been largely very poor to watch. Signing Boyd will not alter that in the slightest, but merely reinforce the theory that our manager has no plan to make us exciting to watch. I don't disagree that he's a good SPL striker but I don't think he's the type of player we should be trying to recruit. He's slow, one dimensional and will have no reselling value.
  12. But who will sing "Do you know where Hell is, Hell is in the Faulds" after the minutes silence that remembers the Nations war dead who come from all sects, creeds and colours, if the Union Bears are not there to apply their jingoistic slant on Rememberence.
  13. It's a terrible position for the fans to be put in, asking us to take a punt on who we trust most, when in reality, neither party deserve our trust. The fans groups, who represent very little in way of the wider Rangers support, have backed King, but I'm struggling to see what the big draw is with King. From what I see, if he really wanted to buy the club, or take up a big chunk of shares, he could easily do so but has chosen no to, and play God with potentially the Club's future. I long for stability but we've became the Portsmouth of Scotland.
  14. I think season book sales will be well down this year. Apathy with the board, fans sick of the God-awful football on show and the constant bickering is a real turn-off for some swithering supporters. I'll renew as per but people are getting sick of the shit.
  15. I'm tired of this shit. King could buy us if he wanted to but he doesn't. I just can't see an amicable solution for this ending well which is the real fear for me.
  16. Don't think Van Gaal will be the answer to Man Utds prayers. Think they could do worse than appoint Giggs to be honest.

  18. The one appealing aspect of dropping down to SFL3 was the opportunity to build something meaningful and with a long term vision of the way the club should be developing. The opportunity to start afresh without the baggage of 'Old Firm' games and results, without the absolute necessity of having to win the SPL, without the pressure of having to 'win ugly' no matter what. The thought process went as follows; We're playing part time footballers, our extra training and professionalism should be able to care of these ties without much effort and as such, Ally could construct an exciting footballing side that would grip our fans and our opponents as our brand of soccer would bulldoze the opposition and the fans would come out to see the Rangers and their journey back to the pinnacle of the game. Sadly, no one at the club has any sort of thoughts past getting as much dough from the fans and investors as possible and awarding themselves obese salaries that have led the club to the brink again. I've been going to Ibrox for over 20 years now and I'm in my late, late twenties (35), but if it wasn't for my boy wanting to go, I'd give serious thoughts about not going back. Totally disillusioned by the board, the direction the club is going and the "Ultras" who are a mixture of stupid wee boys and bitter old men. Totally depressing for me. I long for something new to excite me and reignite my desire to watch the team religiously but ever since the PLG mess, as a club, we've been guilty of horrific short-termism and as such, our greatest rivals are in a different stratosphere from us just now and the real fear is that we could be decades behind them. We need to work hard to attract new fans from different backgrounds if we are to see the club grow and progress. The white Scottish Protestant is a dying breed and a lot of the young fans now either don't support Scottish teams or their parents 'guide' them to a less partisan team to support. I run a boys team in Glasgow and most of the non-native kids support Celtic or not Rangers. We have an Algerian boy who is Celtic daft, I tried win him back by rhyming off all the Algerian Rangers players but without joy. As you can imagine, the boy was put on the bench for the following 4 weeks but that's not the point. Hope I've cheered everyone else up with these uplifting tales....
  19. Hope Sunderland stay up. Can't see Norwich getting anything at Chelsea which would mean that, bar a monumental turn-round in Goal Diff. would effectively relegate Norwich. Also hope there is another twist in the tail at the top. Would like to see Liverpool win for Hillsbrough and for Rodgers who, for a Tim, seems a top bloke and coach. Not too bothered if City win it, they have been good to watch this season too, as well as Liverpool.
  20. Beautifully penned again from Andy. Thanks for this.
  21. I'm hoping that the teams that sacked their managers, somewhat unfairly, go down. I know Sunderland sacked Di Canio but I think that was warranted, (or Villa). Twasn't that long ago, there were 7 Glaswegian managers in the PL, now there's only 1 that I can think of and possibly none as they might get relegated or Lambert gets the bullet. Changed days indeed.
  22. Cannae go these "Chelsea" fans. You either support Rangers or not. You can have a soft spot for another team but to call them 'we' just boils my piss.... Glad they got pumped last night, only because I think Mourinho is a horrible cunt and I tend to support the underdog in those type of situations. An all Madrid final should be a better spectacle than watching boring Chelsea try and bore Real into defeat. Hope Atletico do the double now.
  23. I was at the Cup final last season at Firhill and it was the same wee boys embarrassing themselves and the club and some grown men acting the same. These guys are embarrassing to anyone associated with either club. Sadly, most of the online fanbase on both sides think that their ultras are not as bad as the others, reality is that anyone subscribing to this ultra logic will have mental issues.
