KEVIN THOMSON will sit out Rangers' trip to play Hibernian this Sunday as he recovers from a calf injury. The midfielder was forced off with the problem in the first half of last weekend's excellent 6-1 win against Motherwell at Ibrox. Thomson went for a scan on his calf on Wednesday and it seems unlikely he'll play any part in the three-game sequence Walter Smith believes could have such a massive bearing on Gers' season. The Light Blues take on Dundee United in midweek then Celtic next weekend and along with the Hibees clash, it looks as though Thomson will struggle to make any of those fixtures. His absence could pave the way for a return to the team for Mo Edu after he came through his comeback match unscathed on Monday. The American midfielder played 80 minutes of a 2-1 closed-doors defeat to Partick Thistle at Murray Park and suffered no ill effects afterwards. Edu has been out since May but is now ready to return, although it looks more likely that Lee McCulloch will start alongside Steven Davis in the middle. Rangers' only other absentees are Pedro Mendes and Jerome Rothen but the Portuguese star is back and training and expected to be back in action in around three weeks.

Well what a week that was for our neighbours from the East-end. First of all they travelled to Vienna for a Euro tie against Rapid Vienna. The Austrians lived up to their name and were rapidly 3-0 up and taking Celtic on a Viennese Waltz. The Viennese Waltz is a rotary dance where the dancers are constantly turned. That fits Loovens and Caldwell perfectly. The dance is based on three beats to the bar. After three beats Arthur Boruc was probably praying he was off to a bar Just as well Fox wasn’t playing, as Vienna may have gone on a Foxtrot. Vienna is of course famous for the blue Danube, any rumours that it was a metre deeper by Celtic supporters spitting in it are totally untrue. Vienna did of course get to see a Flood. Glasgow only ever gets to see a weeping Willo. There were reports that Aiden McGeady had fallen into the Danube. Police later cleared it up by saying he took a dive. Well nothing new there, when he sees’s blue, he dives. Vienna used to be a Celtic settlement. Nothing changed there either they were happy to settle for a draw. Then it was across to Edinburgh where the Hearts were ripped out of the unwashed. Well it was something to do with Hearts and getting ripped anyway. Word has it they were suffering from Dutch elm disease. Expected Loovens mistake I loved the Csaba Laszlo statement “Now we need to forget this result because we play Falkirk next and that is going to be a hard game.” Brilliant. Breaking News!!! Celtic are pulling out all stops to sign Susanna Maiolo. They have been scouring the whole of Europe to find a tim who can put in a good tackle. Taxi!!!

Afraid this is wrong. Madjid will fly out to join up with the Algerian team after the HIV's game according to the Rangers main site.

I can't believe any of the above scenario's the fact is he lost confidence in himself. He is not a good one on one defender at the best of times, that is the problem

It wasn't KevinThomson8 that reported it was it?

I think it is about Arsenal calling FIFA's bluff and maybe Rangers should have done or maybe should do over the BB. The difference is that David Murray also wanted a stop to (sectarian) singing imo.

Can't understand it fully so i don't know about any catches that are written into the small print. Great news if all is true.

OooH that sounds sore.

My mummy always told me that i shouldn't answer a question with a question.

The duty of a left back is foremost to defend. Unfortunately that is Whittakers weak point. Broadfoot is proving himself a better all round player at the moment, so he should be first choice. I will say Andy your writing is a great addition to the Gersnet. I take my hat off to you.

Can we afford any? Okay i already said de Guzman from Feynoord on a Bosman. Left winger from FC Twente Miroslav Stoch is on loan from Chelsea. Chelsea won't sell him as they think he is one for the future. I would ask Chelsea to introduce him to the British game at Ibrox. Small but lightning fast. Twente played a 19 year old Luke de Jonge in a cup game tonight and he scored twice. He has no pedigree until now so no price but watch out for his name in the future. A lot of the Ajax and Feynoord team are for sale but it is mostly the old guard who think they can still earn 36.000 per week. If i could buy a player now it would be the 21\22 year old Brazilian CH Douglas from FC Twente. I sent an e-mail to Rangers about a year and a half ago when he was worth little, with no effect. I now think he will be in the 10million pound bracket. http://www.fctwente.net/spelers_details.php?spelerID=437

Sorry Ally i didn't catch the seven page bit first time round so i only read the first page. My reaction after reading the whole story Is. First of all as i have said before i do not believe that the decline of Scottish football lies in the professional point of the iceberg. I belief that the decline is based in the grass roots of the sport. Far too many young players are lost by the one or two team(per age) club system. The likes of Renfrew juniors, Maryhill, Pollock etc, should be clubs that have a full senior and youth system behind them all paying a contribution to the club. The fact that you have boys clubs apart from senior teams is crazy to me.(now). The one should support the other. Any player no matter how good or bad they are should find a level at that club where they can play. Obviously every minute a sport person is busy with his sport is an advantage. I googled the 10.000 hour principle on the Dutch google but came up with nothing. Personally i can see the advantages and disadvantages of the one day release, and the live-in system. I know that in the academy, live-in system, a lot of time is lost in travelling from school to the trainings complex and back. In a one day system then the travel time is cut back to travelling to one venue. On the other hand, can a 10-17 year old bring up 8 hours of concentration to complete a full day. These training methods will change from time to time but the good news for me is that we are aware of them and at least trying to get it right. I have to repeat i honestly believe it is at grass roots level where things have gone wrong, I wait with abated breath the report soon to come out. This gives me a bit of hope.

It is only accurate because you agree with it, but i am sure there are many posts just as accurate that you don't agree with.

Takes over as Head Coach\manager of Groningen for next season. He was now coaching the Ajax youth teams. For those too young to remember him he was a left winger who played 125 games for Rangers between 1990 and 1995 scoring 22 goals. Congratulations Pieter i hope you do well. The Coach leaving Groningen Ron Jans is an excellent manager who is leaving after 8 seasons to find a fresh Challenge. Would be an excellent coach for Rangers in my opinion

The guy was a defending nightmare. If we have to pay his wages then i would say keep him as back-up as there is no point in paying him for nothing. If we don't then let him go. If he walks away himself then i don't see why we should be paying him.

What snow animation? Have you been drinking?

As i said in another thread it is like getting a 3million pound player in. If he hits the heights of the past that is.

Boyd must be complimented himself for the work he has been doing recently, and that is coming from one of his biggest critics. He certainly has improved his all round game.

Ha Ha Konterman was on TV here a few days ago and he said although he started bad at Rangers he ended up more popular than even Michael Mols and Numan. On a sports programme tonight they were talking about Ronald Koeman and Jan Mulder an old Ajax player and pundit here said he will end up at a club like Glasgow Rangers. He then said to Ronald Watterreus Oh sorry that is one of your old clubs. Waterreus answered," yes i was there on a grey Sunday." I liked Waterreus but he has now dropped down on my list of favourite players
