Buffel and PLG could not stand each other for some reason there was no chance of Buffel playing a large part in PLG's team.

England don't have the players to win the WC.Gerrard and Lampard are good players but not world class. They don't have great strikers as Owen is always injured and i think Rooney is overrated. They don't have a good keeper and their central defenders are not that brilliant either.
-
Agreed, it would seem that i have more of a chance of playing than Gow has. If he is as bad as that then it doesn't say much for our scouting system.
-
Gribz you promised not to gloat.:box:

Agree i would love to see Hemdani given a chance at the back again. Cuellor wins most ball in the air and Hemdani as a sort of sweeper. At set pieces against us Cuellor and McCulloch could mark the danger men with Hemdani taking the 3rd choice player.
-
You never said central midfielder you said defensive midfielder that is why i included Whittaker. Sorry! I still think having 3 people who can cover that position enough. Gow or Buffel would have been a better option imo.
-
That is the way i see it as well Craig, a Gazza McCall like partnership. I would add a Gough to that as well. We really need a defender who can also play football. Just for the info i am not a Fergie fan although you may have guessed that.
-
FFS Craig we had 4 defensive midfielders on the park. How many are you wanting? (FFS, meant light hearted) I am sure we could have changed the team around to cover a midfield injury.

I feel the creativity needs to be in the supply route and as Fergie picks up the ball off the CH's toes then that is our week link. A CH who can play the ball through the midfield alla Frank de Boer is also a must. When Fegie drops back so deep to collect the ball off the CH's toe's means we are a 5-3-2 at that moment and makes it easy to close players down as 1 opposing striker can get at Fergie which means the 2 CH's are also tied up. It is then easy for the opposing team to double up against the 5 players in a more advanced position. We are just too predictable i see that scenario time and time again when i see Rangers play. It is unfortunate the defensive aerial side of Hemdani is week, otherwise he would be the perfect player to bring the ball out of defence.

Can't disagree with most of that Frankie. I only ask why we need to have 3 central midfielders as you are suggesting, and what position are you dropping to attain that. In my opinion we need Thomson as ball winner and a creative midfielder next to him. Playing a third man in there would mean we would have to play 5 men in the middle and that would mean giving up a forward or defender. Going 4-3-1-2 would give you your wish but it will go to the cost of width unless the two wide players in the middle 4 are the type of players who will bust a gut to attack and defend. If we have a mid -mid who does not twist and turn and with a quicker thinking brain for a pass than what we now have, I am not so sure that Buffel or even Nacho cannot fill the role behind the strikers. For me the new midfielder has to be a replacement for Captain Marvel, as he spends more time worrying about other players and does little in the marking role himself. Everyone knows Fergie will claim at least 80% of the balls coming out of defence and what is easier than that to break up our play. I know the gramophone is stuck again.

I agree i thought Whittekar had a good game and deserved to be Motm. Thomson was the only other ray of sunlight. McGregor pass marks but could have done better with the goal. What a pity McGregor has chosen Stuttgart and Lyon to make his biggest blunders. Maybe they shoot harder in Europe.
-
One of the things that annoyed me tonight was the fact that players were jogging back to defend instead of bursting a gut to get back. Weir is too slow, He has too be replaced.
-
Not mentioning players the system smith picks is just so negative. I don't think i would have played Buffel tonight as he has had no match practise. I agree he should get a new chance.
-
He definitely is a full back that is for sure.
-
I also hate to say the tims have McGeady he is a class apart at this moment. I hope they play him against Hutton as he will rip Papac apart imo.
-
I thought Whittaker was the best of a bad bunch tonight but i did not see the game live. He looked quite good in the highlights and the radio commentators thought he was ok.
-
Thank god we rested against Gretna it could have been 5 or 6.
-
Agree gribz but Fergie has a Rangers heart and that seems to weigh more than what you offer the team.
-
I can't argue with that but i do have a little faith in Thomson. I actually see a lot of good in him. His biggest problem is he thinks he has to play second fiddle to Fergie. We desperately need to replace fergie with a more offensive player and play Thomson as defending midfielder.
-
I only had a Radio commentary and STV highlights but what i saw and heard was that i would give Whittaker pass marks(sorry Buba). I actually thought he played reasonably. I also don't think JCD meant to stamp on the guy's leg i think he tried to block him from kicking the ball away and got it wrong. For the miss JCD had.??? Two players snapping at his ankles and he was at full steam, sorry but not the easy miss everyone seems to be painting. Certainly not in the Willie Johnston, Peter van Vossen and Inzaghi(header) class

Still up, Fed up,pissed off. Welcome.

I agree to a point but we seemed to freeze when we realised we had a chance. We should have had a go at Barcelona in Spain and i honestly believe the negative attitude was brought in,there, in that game. Yes we could have lost more goals but it wouldn't have mattered. We piled the pressure on ourselves by not giving it our best shot in Spain and Stuttgart. We paid the price tonight.

Glad of that.
