The Pre-Summer-2017 transfer rumours and hearsay all inclusive Thread
JFK-1 replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
I think we can still look at this guy and take note that he has undoubted qualities. My expectation is that in a league where the sheep were regarded as a top team and in which our team of last season were largely dominant in most matches our team of next season will be even more dominant. Marco Negro was no world beater yet in his first 10 matches in a dominant Rangers side he scored 23 goals and I think he hit 30 before Xmas then never repeated anything like that anywhere else. And incidentally for his most recent club which was Veracruz he scored 3 goals in just 8 games for a side that finished 17th in the top tier of Mexican football and has 3 goals in 9 games for Mexico. -

Good selection. Looks like he is a very effective header of the ball and in that video he actually put them away with both feet. No pussy footing around trying to take a touch to line them up. Good snap shot man. -

I doubt he would be having any issues at all with being labeled a great if he didn't spend so much time talking about how great he is. -
That's exciting. I have visions of him creating mass confusion in opponent ranks drifting from one wing to the other and it doesn't get much more deadly than being competent at loosing off an incisive cross or even shot from either foot. And 'he is aggressive attacking the defenders' This boy sounds well capable of creating large unmarked spaces as he draws off defenders.

Probably goes without saying. Even if SD were to suddenly pony up a proper cut of the profits from shirt sales how many of us would still think twice about putting money into the coffers of poison Mike Arseley.

Like maybe give him a chance in the better side we will field this season and see if it improves his goals ratio then if he has to go sell him on in 12 months time when there will be 12 months left on his contract. -

I wouldn't be surprised if that figure is being bandied around simply because it's likely close to what's still owed to Preston. I saw on an Ipswich forum that there was a 'rumour' that Garner may be coming to them because he was supposedly unhappy at Rangers which seems doubtful to me. If Garner were to leave he would be giving up a chance to play in Europe which he would probably never get again and be giving up the chance to prove what he can do in a side that's bringing in considerably more quality than he had the opportunity to play alongside last season. He just doesn't strike me as the type of guy to give it all up when things are looking so good for the season ahead. And there's also the fact that Pedro himself commented that in his view Garner hadn't been utilised correctly and mentioned his aerial prowess in particular. A combination of Garner and Alves going into the opposition box for corners would be a dilemma for opposing defences. Which one do we focus our bigger guys on? Then there is the fact that apparently Alves invariably wins in aerial duels so if he's the one the corner comes into we could be looking at a lot of knockdowns which Garner and others could be feeding off. With so much activity going on it's hard to tell at this stage what may become of Garner but if I had to make a decision on it as of now I would say I think it unlikely Garner will be leaving. -
He was a noted con man banned from being a director long before this issue. He put himself in the spotlight when he became involved with Rangers. Not a good idea for someone with such a past.

I'm impressed by the industry of PC. When everyone else was lazing on Spanish beaches he was pictured here there and everywhere personally taking care of business. I hope i'm seeing a man on a mission.

I was wondering that too. I know the prosecution can appeal what they consider to be too lenient a sentence because I have seen them do it but don't know if they can appeal a verdict. Though i'm guessing that with the dropping of double jeopardy they can call for a retrial if they come up with new evidence. The prosecution clearly think he is guilty otherwise they wouldn't have been prosecuting in the first place.

Contrast that with last year, how many first choices did we capture? I'm thinking specifically of the chase to sign CB's in which I think we ended up with something like a fifth and sixth choice. I get the feeling all this must have been planned and feelers put out a week or two after he walked through the door. -

Unusual that this can happen to a man so young and not just an average man we're talking about an athlete in superb condition. Must be something congenital at the root of it no one ever picked up on. Sympathies to his family who must be devastated right now. -
Alan Brazil: IS Pedro Caixinha the right man to rebuild Rangers?
JFK-1 replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
As far as I can see in his first opportunity to do so Pedro is doing everything possible within reason to massively improve the squad. What else can be asked of him at this early stage? What annoys me about crap like this is that a year from now is the time to ask such questions not 5 minutes after he comes through the door and has had no chance to have any effect. Looking forward I would be more than surprised if we aren't blowing the average SPL side out of the water with this squad so it then comes down to the matches against them. All this crap about getting nowhere near them is complete drivel. Beat the rest and even if they do the same there are only another 12 points between us and them to be contested. Pedro appears to have focused first on bolting the back door closed and as we all know that alone cost us a heap of points last season. -
Isn't sending him someplace he will get pitch time the whole point of a loan?

JFK-1 replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
All i'm seeing in this is that Pedro is not the right man to lead Rangers because the sheep are imploding? That's basically all he talks about after referencing Pedro. WTF? And incidentally I don't doubt for a moment the sheep would have been pushed down to third even if they had lost no one. We outplayed them in all but one league match over the season gone by and this developing team is a class above that team. -

I think Wilson will be retained and Kiernan released if we can get him out the door but Wilson my find himself a bench feature if Alves and Cardoso can form an effective partnership before Wilson gets back. And he seems somewhat injury prone for a young guy. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/danny-wilson/verletzungen/spieler/103819 -

Beginning to look as if Kiernan is surplus to requirements and Wilson may struggle to get back into it once recovered. May Portugal be plagued in the confederations cup and Alves where he should be prior to June 29th. -

Of course the limitless Ronaldo ego now in overdrive saying he can't be criticised. I have never been critical of his talent he's a great player it's his big head that grates on peoples nerves. And I can criticse him for that. -
Aberdeen chief George Yule finds lower attendances ‘puzzling’
JFK-1 replied to ian1964's topic in General Football Chat
Because they're shyte? Nobody says we had a great season or anything like it yet with just a few weeks of the season remaining we could have finished second ahead of them. We also beat them twice and outplayed them in the game they won at home. If they think that's a 'great' season they better start filing it in the memory drawer because that's as good as it's going to get for a very long time. I foresee them struggling to be top 5 next season. -
I don't think it's out of the question to win the league. Last season is irrelevant because next season our side will bear only a passing resemblance to last seasons side and the main opposition will not have another season like the one they just had. Ask yourself this. Do you think the team Pedro appears to be building is far superior to all the others outside the main opposition? I do so if we consistently beat those others it will then come down to the games between them and us and they're not unbeatable. They just barely scraped into the CL courtesy of a last minute penalty miss by Hapoel in Israel when they were being played off the park and that had been preceded by a defeat to the taxi drivers of Gibraltar. They're nothing like as good as they're being painted to be and we can take them.

I keep hearing rumours of a striker being signed and i'm presuming they would only sign a striker who would be a first pick. And judging by comments Pedro has previously made he likes Garner. -
John McEnroe doesn't know who they are nor does he know who the unmentionables are. Tennis legend John McEnroe reveals Rangers are the only Scottish football club he’s ever heard of during Andy Murray commentary TENNIS legend John McEnroe has admitted the only Scottish team he has ever heard of is Rangers. The three-time Wimbledon champion’s limited knowledge of our game emerged as he was commentating on Andy Murray’s first round match at the French Open. During the match’s fourth set, talk turned to the subject of football on these shores. And it was mentioned that not only is Murray a keen Hibs supporter, but that his grandfather played for the Easter Road club. Unsurprisingly, US icon McEnroe had never heard of the Hibees. He added: “I needed a little helping. Glasgow Rangers is as far as I’ve got.” Murray famously had a training session with the Light Blues as a 15 year old before deciding to pursue a tennis career. In 2012, he told the BBC: “I had the trials and they actually went well. “I was asked to go but decided to move to Spain to pursue a tennis career and probably wouldn’t have made it professionally anyway. “It’s tough to know if I’d have made it, though.” https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/1080604/john-mcenroe-andy-murray-hibs-rangers/

I'm beginning to wonder if Kenny Miller will be able to find a starting spot in this developing side. He might become a bench fixture next season to be thrown in for the last half hour or so. -
Guys we're not doing enough obsessing about Rangers. Over on kerrydale street they have a thread about us they opened a week later than our summer transfer thread and it currently has 212 pages to our measly 79. And of course it's going into overdrive with current events. They're more obsessed with our team than their own. Of course we're going to meltdown and be out of business by around Xmas. When that doesn't happen presumably another fantasy will be developed. The fear is becoming ever more evident. To quote Martin Luther King, I have a dream. I have a dream that one day this Summer we will have qualified for the Europa league group stages and they will have crashed and burned leaving us as the only Scottish team in Europe till at least Xmas.

Of those to contest 50+ aerial duels in Serie A this term, only Hoedt (84.1%) had better aerial success than Alves (79.3%) And that's in Serie A, I will hazard a guess he could win 9 out of 10 aerial duels in the SPL. In an attacking scenario I have visions of both him and Garner hovering in an opposing box waiting for one of our corners striking terror into defenders wondering which one to focus on.
