  1. As you say - now we know Wilson is good enough are there any others who are capable of playing first team football? As for Bougherra in midfield then that's a NO from me. IMO the only reason he gets forward so often is that he gets more time on the ball in defence with no marker and has the option to take the ball forward unchallenged - something that you wouldn't be allowed the space or time to do from midfield.
  2. Bougherra not expected back until the game after next so we could still see Papac and Weir at the weekend with Danny Wilson on the bench.
  3. Perhaps too much information to update and best not to publish more rumour and conjecture until something more concrete happens - maybe it's already happening.
  4. Now that would be good. Whether it's King or whether it's a Souness led consortium the sooner Murray is gone and gone for good the better.
  5. Formerly Assistant to David Moyes? Certainly a name from left field. You seem very sure of this Sir - prey tell.
  6. Someone suggested Steve Nicol to me which would be a gamble. However, I'd rather have someone like Michael Laudrup. I also think Roy Hodgson would be a good appointment but having ruled out International management recently I doubt he would leave Fulham for Ibrox.
  7. I think it's a little odd that Smith's contract runs out in December / January and if he does go then it wont be before then. Perhaps the new chairman can source some new investment or a new owner by then.
  8. I don't think Davis was guilty of hiding last night. He was one of the few who wanted the ball albeit on many occassions there was no movement up front for him to make a pass. I wanted to see Davis played centrally for a while now but now that I have I think he does offer more wide right and this also helps Whittaker. It can't be easy trying to pick a forward pass when there's only one to aim for and he has three players around him. Will we see youth given a chance now?
  9. Nail on Head. Rothen was woeful in the 1st half yet still appeared for the 2nd. We bought him to play wide left yet he turned up on the right. At this stage I think Charlie Adam would have offered more than Jerome. Whittaker, although poor, couldn't get forward because Rothen wasn't providing cover. Mendes was crying out for the defence to move up for most of the first half becuase they were too detached from the midfield but this didn't change either. Too many players lacked any urgency last night and we really should have kicked on after scoring a very fortunate opening goal. Playing a lone striker at home against the weakest team in the group (which we are now) was criminal. The really disheartening thing is even when the likes of Edu return I don't see us getting any better as it will just give Walter more options for tinkering between Thomson, Mendes, Davis, Rothen and Edu.
  10. Volz - Yes but we need a CB not a RB
  11. Why oh why does Bain feel the need to caveat every statement by While saying they would rather not sell it's almost an open invite for clubs to bid for our better players - c'mon give us your money.
  12. I agree but surely Walter would want to replace Boyd or keep him. Not much point offloading the lad when you wont be given any funds to replace him.
  13. I agree 100%. Especially since the fee we get wont be reinvested in a replacement. I noted at the weekend Aruna Dindane was set to move to Portsmouth from RC Lens for £4m. How I wish we had invested £4m in Dindane last summer rather than Lafferty.
  14. I don't think Beasley would be a huge loss given the impact (or lack thereoff) he had last season. In his absence we may see Aaron Niguez get more opportunities. My hope is it's not a loan deal and that we actually recoup some, all or a little extra of the £750k DaMarcus cost us.
  15. A surprising line-up I'll give you that. A little odd though that you choose to field so many youngsters yet ignore Steven Naismith
  16. That's just it no-one else is capable or willing to do so. As Gasgoigne said recently it's coached out of modern footballers which is a disgrace.
  17. Which could in turn rule out the signing of Robbie Neilson with Whittaker already in position we don't need 3 right backs.
  18. That's my fear too - and I dearly hope we do get a win regardless of the result in Glasgow.
  19. Did we not play better football this season before Fergusons return? Granted Kevin Thomson may have contributed to that and in his absence we will have to fill that void. I think this is the perfect opportunity to move Steven Davis into a more central role alongside Mendes with Fergusons enforced absence allowing those two players to express themelves more.
  20. Lazio chairman says he has never heard of Boyd while quotes attributed to their manager say he is very aware of Boyds situation. Who do you believe?
  21. Probably end up with Champion since that seems to be the JJB brand of the moment.
