  1. I'm pretty happy too!
  2. Have the guys who did the digging brought this to the club's attention and also the sports editor at the rhebel?
  3. The timing of the games and the quality of the opposition will have a bigger impact than the number of games imo. It would be impossible to conclusively prove which would have a greater influence upon a squad of players but I would suggest that having to fit in additional midweek fixtures against top quality opposition during the league campaign would be by far the greater challenge.
  4. Why does anyone put any stock in Aberdeen fans opinions? They are notoriously worthless. They couldn't wait to be shot of the two Jimmies even in spite of them being succesful (relatively speaking in Aberdeen's recent history) yet were/are chuffed with McGhee.
  5. If you sit there watching for a players mistakes you'll be able to notice more than a few occasions when even our most consistent performers cock up. I think a lot of it comes down to perspective. You watch a game and you have preconceived notions of a player and each time they do something you expect of them then you remember it as it supports your view of the player. You could watch a game thinking Adam's a shit passer of the ball and you see him make half a dozen passes which don't reach their target and you think see I said he can't pass. But you don't look at how many he makes that are succesful. You don't see how many his team mates misplace. You don't look at the percentage of succesful passes. You don't take into consideration the players position, is he a creative player making offensive passes which are more likely to be intercepted than defenders playing it along the back line?
  6. You're so called basic logic is epically flawed.
  7. It's the League Cup is it not? No non-league sides in the cup down south either.
  8. Come on now, you're just being silly. :D
  9. Aye, thats the only reason we have an ageing central defender (who happens to be our captain and a quality performer in the side). Nothing to do with years of financial mismanagement. Not that i'm sure attacking Weir is actually a good way to further your argument. If you're good enough you're old enough works both ways (i.e. for young and old). Ps. If there was an option i'd selct "the form player" in the poll. Currently McCulloch deserves the spot.
  10. That argument has been shot to shit in recent years. By far and away the best marketed league in the world though. Sky have really done them a massive favour there as everyone swallows the hype.
  11. Aye he was born in Belshill not Boston so is inelligible. But I think you've missed craig's point.
  12. I can't remember where but I was reading a piece recently where someone was knocking that world cup argument by pointing out that Braafheid played in the World Cup final.
  13. Boyd - cheap signing. Excellent value for money. Dont rate him. Lafferty - expensive signing (relatively). Largely poor so far. Rate him highly. That sort of thinking will always confuse me until (and if) Lafferty starts peforming consistently.
  14. Whether you have an issue with Lafferty or not I haven't really noticed. When a player has been mostly poor I expect to see criticism and don't put it down to anything other than what his performances and off-field antics merit. When people hold a player who has made a fantastic contribution to the club in lower regard than that of players like Lafferty as described above then I begin to wonder what other reasons people have for such strong opinions against a player who has for the most part been an excellent signing. I didn't mean to suggest that you did necessarily have an issue with Lafferty, just amused at FH's accusation against you considering his own extreme views.
  15. You can say that but we know it's not true. Edu has played poorly in his last couple of games yet you'd have been perfectly happy for him to stay in the team ahead of McCulloch who had a match winning contribution at the weekend. How would sticking with a player out of form been for the good of the team? If it was as simple as keeping a younger better player I imagine we would have. Most likely finances dictated the transfer and contract dealings there.
  16. I groan at most your posts. Hate Boyd, love Lafferty, claim our manager has favourites and picks his teams emotionally and so also hate McCulloch regardless of what they do on the pitch we already know what your view will be. Prob a PLG fan who thought he needed more time to ruin our club too. :fish:
  17. Beattie may have been a panic buy, not so much because Boyd left but because the Jelavic deal almost fell apart. Though to believe that line of thought you would need to believe what our press wrote. Beattie is a seasoned veteran with decenti(ish) pedigree in England but with his age is going to be somewhat on the decline. At the weekend there were signs that he will be able to use his physical presence well. He will be able to take the ball with his back to goal and bring others into the game. We know in the SPL that there will be times when we will need a physical front man. I think he will definitely score a few, though most likely nowhere near as many as Boyd. Considering though that Smith does not like forwards in the Boyd mold (golascorer only) it would be futile to compare the two. Smith will have him earmarked for another job. When he gets fit I think he will be a useful, experienced target man but like most our squad I don't expect a great deal in Europe. Has he played European football before??? Ps. FH has every bit as much of a personal issue with Boyd as wabash does with Lafferty and to suggest otherwise is hilarious.
  18. I'm not saying that McCulloch does not get more time from the manager, but the verocity with which people attack his inclusion is amusing. As if he's the only player who stays in the team after a bad game or two. It's not suprising a safety first manager sticks with experienced players through a bad game and it is frustrating. But whilst the manager is achieveing results then he gets to make the decisions. And as you point out, there are other experienced members of the squad afforded even more of the same courtesy. There is also the possibility that, rightly or wrongly, Smith feels McCulloch offers more than Edu to the team. Certainly Edu' performances are not that far greater than Lee's (if at all) that it's worth getting so upset about it. I don't notice these same fans getting so distressed when Walter perseveres with Lafferty as an example. It appears to just come down to whether or not the player is one of these fan's favourites rather than one of Walters "favourites". I think fans, myself every bit as much as any other, are more likely to have favourites and make an emotional investment in team selections than a seasoned manager such as Walter and that is borne out by much of the greeting faced posts on here.
  19. It's clear, once again, that some fans just wont give certain players a fair crack. Whilst Edu might be the better long term bet, he has played poorly and deserved to be rested.
  20. Or that those who insisted it is not enough for a striker just to score in a game will change their tune. For me, i'm happy when my strikers are scoring goals. But his overall play was rank aside from the goal today.
  21. Miller wont leave. He's just not that highly sought after. Good news for us though.
  22. I dunno, but as we're constantly told about how important the co-efficient is i'm sure they'll be demanding universal support from Scottish Football fans and that we will also gain universal support from the journalists themselves.

  24. That sentence doesn't really make any logical sense much like your retorts to craig. Not nearly as smart as you liek to pretend. Walter Smith may well be tactically inept. But in the Manchester season he got his tactics spot on allowing him to take a team of limited players all the way to a European final beating several teams of better quality. I may not have an equal in "pish", again a sentence you have used that makes little sense, but it is clear that you are by far my superior when it comes to pish. I know you're fond of your cryptic nonsensical posts but you are on a run of epic failures and need to work much harder trying to be clever.
  25. From the man who argues we should have gone gung-ho in the UEFA Cup final! Early push for funniest user in the yearly awards? :fish:
