We're all pretty fucked off atm. One of Jim's latest posts on here states that Celtic are continuing their busy summer transfer dealings. Is it just me or do the press like to exaggerate their apparent wealth and highlight our lack of trasnfer dealings at the same time. Or am I seeing things that aren't there just because we are doing fuck all? I can only take some solace in that Celtic have been apparently flaunting their financial superiority for the last few summers and it hasn't done them any good. The difference this year is that so far we have been significantly weakend (in numbers and quality) and must start strengthening soon.

Unsure, just saw it on the in-play on a betting website. 1-0 Braga last I saw.
-
Spurs and Werder Bremen are potential opponents in the next round I believe.
-
Braga playing Rio Ave right now. 0-0.
-
Tonge was part of a decent Sheff Utd team in the Championship that included Michael Brown and Phil Jagielka. But that was obviously a few years ago now.
-
I suppose on paper it's an easier tie, thought still not easy.
-
Why was everyone deriding Braga before the draw? Do we know much about them? Second in Portugal to me suggests they should be every bit as confident of beating Celtic.

Is it just me or do we seem to get that a lot?

Whilst what van Bommel did was against sportsmanship imo it was not against the rules and is all too common on football these days. A team never gives the opposition the ball back in the are in which they had it but rather plays the ball off the pitch far up the field to gain territorial advantage. As there are no rules governing this, you can hardly blame them.

Poverty Stricken... Or Living with our means?

That was from after he got a bit lucky after a mistake but can't remember precisely what. -

We have more to thank Boyd for than deride him (even if his transfer was a poor decision for all parties bar maybe his new team) so your and other posters issues with him are quite sad and tiresome really. Do all former players get slagged by you or just ones who smash goalscoring records? Danny in 5,4,3,2,1..... -
Or Glasgow???

Is that not Madrid?

Pretty much spot on from Norris there I think. Still a bit disappointed about it all though.

Me and my wee bro were trying to figure out if he'd shagged the comentators missus or something. I missed much of the Brazil game and yes van Bommel had a few bad fouls but the commentary was verging on unprofessional. If the biggest complaint is that van Bommel didn't get a yellow he might have against Brazil then the ref's not done a bad job. Far worse errors normally occur.

What's that radio show that finishes with a round where the panel have to defend the indefensible?

Wee (maybe boring) story from my trip to Seville at the end of June there. Went out to Seville to visit my Dad and had a Rangers shirt with me. Just got the one airing out there during my near two week stay, not like the mhankies who would live in theirs. Was out in the local bar in the village where my dad lives near Seville when a local came in and bellowed Nacho Novo at me across the bar. Didn't think they'd know who he was to be honest. Certainly made me and my wee bro smile. Shouted back about Carlos Cuellar but unfortunately my Spanish extends no further than ordering a beer and the names of a few players. Earlier the same day i'd been sat outside a bar in a square in the city centre when a group of Brits walked past and were giving it We Are The People etc.

A winning goal against a diddy team is worth just as much as a winning goal against Celtic. So a shit load of goals against "diddy teams" is worth a lot more than the odd strike against Celtic. Goals against the so called diddy teams win us competitions and get us into the CL.
-
I don't agree that's a fair representation of events on here. You're not alone in not liking Boyd and like others your views appear to extend further than refusing to idolise him (which no one is asking for). For example being happy he's gone. I also find it strange that lesser performers who have contributed less to the club are held in higher esteem.
-
FWIW, whilst I can see the financial side of things and the "looking after his family" argument I agree with Hippo and many other fans who are utterly bemused by his final choice of club. Shocking, shocking career move for Boyd and it does lack ambition. I just take issue with some of the more underhand attempts to blemish Boyd and his time at Rangers.

It's a shame people are forced into having to defend our best goalscorer since McCoist. One of the fastest to get to 50 and 100 goals for us. A player who has helped shoot us to at least 5 trophies in recent seasons. I agree with being confused, frustrated, annoyed even at his decision to move to Boro, but quite why I should be shot down for defending a very useful player for us over the past few seasons is beyond me. I am sure the more sensible posters would agree with me. It really is quite amazing I am forced into fairly defending one of our key performers of recent times. You suggest we move on but start off with your initial line throwing in your usual negative two cents about Boyd. Boyd much like Weir and Davis in recent seasons should not require much defending when conversing with rival fans, never mind Rangers fans. The fact that I and other fans are required to launch into such staunch defence says so much more about his detractors and so called Rangers fans that it does me. But carry on with bashing a guy who has contributed commendably towards the bears in recent years whilst deifying lesser performers.
-
You're not the only one who is confused. However, Boyd is gone. Lafferty is still here, so here's hoping he can start proving himself worthy of playing week in week out upfron for us.
-
It's also fact that he did play and we did win it. THere are some fans who really are looking to do Boyd down at every opportunity.
-
How much do we stand to earn from his contribution to winning the SPL and CL football? Poor decision from Boyd though.
