  1. The Manchester season compared to last seasons effort shows the main thrust of your argument in this post to be pish. Only surpassed by Totti trotting out the nonsensical argument about not trying to win the Uefa Cup final. Anyone who believes that must be a simpleton. Our best chance of beating Zenit, a team who lets not forget absolutely horsed Bayern Munich when the Germans tried to attack them, was to stick to the tactics that got us to the final. Merely going on kamikaze attacking mode because we were in a final made no sense before the game nor in hindsight and how anyone can argue any different is frankly astonishing.
  2. Aye, the diddies. Including Celtic. Look up Screebs other stats thread on FF and it shows how we are by far and away the best contributor to the Scottish co-efficient since the Champions League began.
  3. Ha ha, absolutely brilliant. :robbo:
  4. Was never in any doubt tbh.
  5. I could of sworn we had something like that before.
  6. Is it my imagination or did we have the CL theme tune playing one year when you opened the forum? Could we get that again (or for the first time, whichever it is).
  7. You can tell someone's lost the plot when they're comparing Lafferty to Zidane.
  8. Not a chance his work permit will be denied.
  9. Will be registered users who have been removed. Probably guys who haven't logged in for a lengthy period of time.
  10. It's not constant wee unnecessary digs. It's a consistent opinion held at the time that Hemdani was not as good a player as was made out and his failings were easily identified (couldn't play and offensive pass, wouldn't tackle so don't know if he could). Best of a bad bunch was my line and I stick to it. I don't go out of my way to use opportunities to slag him off though. Merely give my opinion when people bring him up and overplay his ability and contribution. We all know that FH, Danny and Gribz think Boyd was by and large shit and a charlatan. Do we need to be reminded of this everytime one of our current forward scores. These are also some of Lafferty and Sebo's biggest fans. A consistent theme on Rangers message boards is the ones who see more in Lafferty than he has actually delivered are also the ones who give Boyd the hardest time despite his contribution to the club being something Lafferty can only dream of. Boyd was slow. Boyd's often looked like he was a bit heavy and his aerobic capacity or fitness could have been better. But there is absolutely no way anyone will ever convince me that the issues some fans have with Boyd are in keeping with what he contributed to the club and consistent with their views of other inferior performers. It's like arguing black is white frankly.
  11. Guys like Danny and Flying Hippo who constantly indulge in needless digs at an ex player.
  12. Haven't noticed the usual stories about the Old Firm ruining the national game and playing too many foreigners ahead of good Scots. Nothing to do with the fact that we've played at least about 6 scots in our starting line ups since Walter returned and have contributed 8 players this time (along with former players in Adam and Boyd) whilst the tims have one?
  13. What about the rest of them then?
  14. That's £14mil from Tv money, from playing in the groups and from our results. Doesn't take into account things like gate receipts, hospitality etc. It also wont account for any costs. Anyone have a better idea of the profit it will have generated?
  15. It didn't have to but quite a few can't resist their wee digs.
  16. If Rangers were bringing in an inexperienced 3rd choice keeper in from another team I really would wonder what the fuck we were up to? What does it say about the two experienced keepers we have and why does the manager have so little faith in them? Zaluska and Cervi proving to be poor transfers too then?
  17. They weren't welcome in Madrid on their last European campaign. Running battles outside Atletico's ground apparently.
  18. Who is slagging Vanoli or Ricksen or making snide comments there. I said this is an earlier post but it is laughable that the kind of fans who wont be able to praise our current strikers without slagging a former one are the one's who hit out with "he's gone, get over it". It's those with the agenda against Boyd who reignited the arguement, so who needs to get over it? I would have a go at fans slagging other ex-players, more so dependent upon their contribution admittedly. Much as I would defend any unfounded criticism of current players.
  19. Who is slagging Miller atm. And as Boyd has gone and was generall a good servant why the need to continue slagging him? Most ex Rangers who contributed well are treated with a modicum of respect.
  20. My issue is not really with Gav anyway but those but can't help but have a dig at Boyd. THe same posters who wont be slow to tell anyone else to move on, as Boyd has, if they bring him up in a positive light. Yet again I wonder why someone who was an exceptional signing for Rangers has to be subjected to snide comments that many poorer ex employees aren't subjected to. Though I fully expect this to continue for the next season or 2. (Another, smaller point, but some would do well to note that Miller is not replacing Boyd as he was here and often starting ahead of Boyd when the Middlesborough striker was still here).
  21. Unfortunately I think that is the desired response they're after. There are many players who can't be mentioned or situations which can't be discussed without a dig at Boyd. Good player for Rangers who is now gone and yet people still stick the boot in and they'll probably have the cheek to remind you he's gone and should be forgotten.
  22. It's because McGregor's actions didn't lead to a "mistake" in sending off an opponent and hence influence the result. Made Shagger look stupid but had little other impact. For the record Mulgrew should still have walked and other including, I believe, Lee Hendrie at Villa have been sent off for the motion or intent of a headbutt that never actually connected. Contact is not a requirement for a card I don't believe.
  23. As good a place as any: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1305459/Liverpool-Manchester-United-Chelsea-Arsenal-kings-cash-despite-Euro-failures.html#ixzz0xRRd4crj
  24. Not a good sign for someone who is supposed to be fasting!
  25. Was going to counter Frankie's first post but will instead support what FH has said here. I don't think Martin nor Aaron had achieved what Weiss had when they arrived (i.e. performing in World Cup Finals matches) and hence at a similar or younger age he has shown more potential and demonstrated greater ability. I did however miss yesterday's game with work.
