You should post it on the official Celtic FB page - see what they say! Great work again Chris. It really is incredible that the mainstream media haven't explored this story.

I find it quite easy to separate Gazza's personal failings with what he achieved as a football player. Let's make no mistake - Gascoigne was the most famous player we've ever signed (or likely to sign). He was a truly world class midfield player who did a fine job at Rangers. Yes, he perhaps didn't do enough on the European stage at club level but he was still a prodigious talent. One I'll forever remember starring for the Rangers. Off-the-park, well that's a completely different matter and it's a shame that the guy couldn't control his alcoholism but he's admitted his failings very clearly (the tears in his eyes as he called himself a prick were full of regret) so I can only hope he manages to move forward with his life.

Crass about covers it. Problem is, these people know they'll get away with such comments. In fact, they're encouraged to make them.

Opportunity Knocks For The Scottish Government And Media To Help UEFA
Frankie replied to Zappa's topic in Rangers Chat
Some (unpublished) comments for you to sift through on the main site panel mate. Not all, erm, complimentary shall we say! Great stuff! -
Sounds interesting enough so hopefully these lads have enough quality for us to be genuinely interested!

That's a fair point. I don't see many bears blindly supporting the guy as there are clearly many reasonable doubts about what he offers. However, we are where we are so the guy is entitled to some support given his own commitment (which I appreciate isn't overly huge in financial terms). Of course the point can be made about where would be if MIH/LBG still called the shots. Well, we really don't know but it's doubtful contracts would have been renewed and, with our early Euro exits, perhaps a few players would have been sold - not only to reduce a debt that would have been increasing from £18million but as insurance for our tax problems. Generally we just don't know what would have happened and we just don't know what will happen. We can only place our trust in Whyte and hope that, as a fellow supporter, he understands just how important our club (and it's history and future reputation) is. For some that is easy to do as we stand tall at the top of the league. For others, the doubts are too strong to allow the worry to subside. Both positions are valid and none of us are right when it comes to judging the new regime. However, that time will come.

I remain undecided. There have been some positives and some negatives so it's difficult to judge the guy accurately.

Of course the lad should be censured heavily by the club - if found guilty and depending what the 'crime' was. we don't know what the crime was and the lad has pled not guilty so he's obviously confident his behaviour wasn't sectarian. Nevertheless, as others have said, he has a responsibility to himself and others to act properly while being a Rangers player and, while going for a few drinks (or even getting drunk) isn't a crime, there are still ways you can do that without bringing attention to yourself.

Couldn't it be £10million if the case is settled out of court/tribunal? IIRC, Whyte has said that anything more than £15million and we'd enter administration.

Yes, I'm confident of a positive result but not so assured on how the club manages the outcome.

It was always likely to be the case that the SPL (and Celtic) would be lenient when it came to 'punishing' the club. There is no precedent for the severe censures we've heard about and it is in no-one's interest for the SPL to lose Rangers.

After Lennon had his DOB rant, he was given a hefty new contract, made captain and later appointed manager. Even guys like Bob Malcolm went on to be fine after his daft mistake.

Don't think my ugly mug is in any of them thankfully! Was a small but well organised protest that served its purpose. I'd say there was a good 200-300 people there around the back of one for the main part of the rally and there were definitely plenty of people coming and going throughout as well. Reps from many of the fan sites/groups as well which was very positive. All in all, a worthwhile exercise - and the corteo to Ibrox afterwards was great fun also!

I'm struggling to understand your reasoning here: Rangers have banned the BBC for the negative coverage you scoff at. They're not paranoid. Our fans are protesting because of said coverage. They are paranoid. A rather strange way to look at the issue and while I certainly understand why not everyone would agree with the protest (or share our view of the BBC); it always surprises me such people are so eager to demean their own support when they have quite clearly given substantiated and extremely valid reasons for their opinions. Especially, when they cannot answer the questions in the opening post or offer examples of similar coverage for other teams.

Erm, I think most people are headstrong in their views and that's why forums such as these are so popular because we can debate between ourselves reasonably politely - irrespective of the fact we may not change our opinion.

There's a big difference between everyday negative coverage (which every club does suffer from) and coverage that is deliberately slewed to alter opinions via clever editing techniques or production decisions. The problems our fans (and club) have are not the former but most definitely the latter. Several examples are given of those and I also refrained from mentioning the more petty stuff (such as image HTML descriptions). I thought I made this point clear in the post so can only assume those that want to label their fellow fans as paranoid either haven't read the initial post properly or are being deliberately obtuse.

OK, since you think those who are protesting (and the club) are paranoid, perhaps you can answer the questions in the opening post?

Not sure of your point? Hearts have banned all media for their own reasons. Rangers and our fans are concentrating on BBC Scotland for a variety of reasons - primarily continual editorial decision problems.
