If it had to happen then why not the back few rows of one of the stands?

Deep breaths. Step away from the gun cabinet.

You know what, Alfredo Morelos is the best player in Scotland right now, he's going to finish the season as the country's leading goal scorer, he's going to sign for one of the biggest clubs in one of the biggest leagues in the world, he's going to play in world cups and he's going to have a hugely successful career. Meanwhile, the no-marks at BBC Scotland will still be speaking shit to an audience of muppets in a backwater of bigotry that no one pays any attention to and where the media cares about nothing but selling prejudice to survive.

As much as anyone, Eric Caldow probably encapsulated what we all want a Rangers player to be. A true gentleman, a huge talent, one of the very best. There was a time when the epithet "captain or Rangers and Scotland" defined greatness. Eric Caldow was one of those. A true Rangers legend, everyone in the Rangers family will mourn his passing.

Funny how Humza has suddenly found his voice. Still nothing to say about years of child abuse at Celtic though. The SNP really is a cabal of shit.

I wonder what the issue was with Ryan Jack yesterday? Particularly in the first half he was the polar opposite of the assured player we usually see. -
I keep asking myself, what is it that safe standing gives you that seating doesn’t? Should we have safe-standing in cinemas and theatres? If it’s the ability to jump up and down people want, go to a gym.

Brendan Rodgers ready to 'launch bid' for Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos
Bill replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Despite the many claims to the contrary and socialism creating a religion around it, people are not equal. But definition, for every above-average IQ there must be a below-average IQ. It’s in the latter category that the gutter media finds a willing audience. It’s actually worse than that because too many who could make discerning judgements are indolent bastards who can’t see past their next indulgence. It does no harm to shame them now and again though. ? -

If you’re reading the Sun .... why? -
Perhaps it wasn’t our decision to cancel?
-
I should hope so. It certainly warms my heart to have been born under a union jack.

Let's be clear and, if possible, honest as well. The issue isn't a collective dislike of Celtic, Irish republicanism, Scottish nationalism, catholicism, plastic paddyism or anything else that Rangers fans choose to dislike. It's only about how that dislike (or any other like or dislike) is expressed. Nothing else. I certainly won't be changing my allegiances or dislikes. But I won't be deliberately scoring own goals for the opposition either.
-
To be fair, it has everything to do with politics. Without politics there would be no offensive songs and probably no contrived offendedness either.

Every week you wonder which Rangers team is going to turn up. This is the wrong one. It will take a hell of a turnaround to rescue this one. -
No they won't and neither should we treat them as anything but the bigots they are. I would never give up the fight against republicans and nationalists but there are ways and there are effective ways of doing it. Clearly, we have yet to discover the effective way and we're not going to until we look beyond the status quo.

I remember when people smoked in cinemas and airplanes, when people routinely spat on public transport, when drinking and driving was socially acceptable. There are lots of things that were once widely accepted but would cause gross offence today and not all of the changes are down to political correctness. We used to send kids up chimneys and to school with no shoes. We used to condone slavery and racial prejudice. We can hanker after the good old days until we're blue in the face but time only runs in one direction and you have to make reasonable decisions about what is, on the whole, a positive change and what should be resisted. Much as I despise the Catholic Church and Irish republicanism, I find it difficult to find any basis for defending indiscriminate public expressions about f*cking popes or illegitimate f*ni*ns, any more than I could defend child pornography or littering. Give it a rest, Rangers will still be Rangers without crawling in the gutter.

Sometimes it can be very difficult to move on in any aspect of life and this issue is essentially an analogue for the entire human condition. People are vastly more diverse than you will ever see on the surface and place entirely different emphasis on habitual behaviour. Some people have shallow roots and don't give shit what they say or do, changing with the wind. Of the majority with a conscience, some are just better equipped than others to embrace change and to see the bigger picture, particularly the picture that has yet to be painted. In any random group of people there will always be those who cling to old familiar habits and view change as a betrayal of principle and will resist it at almost any cost. The question is, when the status quo has become unacceptable, how do you set about converting the intransigent few whose personal preferences are holding back everyone. If they won't themselves see the need to change, is it fair that they should hold back the majority. The minority also have rights but not the right to deny the majority. Maybe, for the sake of everyone else involved, it's time those who just cannot give up their "fenían songs" just found something else to do on a Saturday. If faced with such a choice, I believe we'd find their numbers are a lot smaller than some think.
-
I could have written that a short while ago and I’ve been slow to change but I’m now convinced there’s another future for us that’s being denied by people who can’t change. And the really sad thing is that the changes needed are tiny. Certainly not worth the fuss that’s often made about it. We’re no less Rangers fans because we don’t sing about ****** bastards, whether sitting at Ibrox or in an armchair. And we ALL pay to get into the ground. In geology there a famous principle that the present is the key to the past. With too many Rangers fans it seems it’s the past that’s the key to the future.

It really is time to ditch some of these songs and to stop swimming against the tide. No one wants to be coerced into change by people who feign offence that almost certainly doesn't exist in reality but neither are we going to move forward by indulging in what amounts to little more than self-harm. I fully understand the element of defiance involved and the one-sided condemnation we suffer but I wouldn't sing these songs and I don't particularly want my grandkids to hear, let alone sing these songs. As much as I hate the idea of bending over to our critics, I completely agree with the club's statement and any fans who can't change will have to be left behind.

Yes they will but if not him it would just be someone else exploiting the opportunity. Stewart isn’t important, the BBC is.
-
I find I dispiriting that as many as 9700 people buy that shit every day.
-
Michael Stewart is actually making a very good job ... of promoting Michael Stewart and is well on the way to becoming a wealthy and successful media figure. I’m sure the fact we despise him is of no interest at all to him.

Petition To Get James Dornan Removed From Anti Sectarian Group
Bill replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Issuing statements like this has the benefit of rallying the converted but is usually ineffectual as far as people like Dornan are concerned. All they have to do is issue a counter statement denying any wrongdoing and we’re back to square one. Everything is deniable and the neutrals we need to convince assume it was all a misunderstanding. I’m afraid if we want to back these bastards into a corner and make a practical difference then we’ll need to up our game considerably.
