We have every chance to go top on the opening day. To that end, I have (no doubt unwisely) rejected Buster's narrow win GPL prediction in favour of the required 3 goal margin. This feels like the season when we wipe the sneer off Celtic faces and there's no time to start like the present.
We'll see in time how this works out but on the face of it I think this is the perfect move for Lowry. However, I'm much more interested in whether or not it proves to be the right move for Rangers.
He's never been one our star players but he's usually made a contribution when asked and sometimes he's made the difference between 3 points and something less. I think he'll continue to do what's required when he's asked and I agree he's a better player than many give him credit for. Clearly, as usual, you and I are right and the rabble are wrong. 😉
We've done the Barisic experiment. It didn't work, so now we're trying the Yilmaz experiment - if that ultimately fails, we need another option. There's no point going from one unsatisfactory solution back to another unsatisfactory solution. But I don't think we've reached any conclusion with Yilmaz yet.
I do like your positive sentiments but, in all honesty and on the basis of what we've seen so far, I'm struggling to understand anyone being impressed with Sima.
That's my assumption too. Souttar, Goldson, Balogun, Davies, King, Sterling ..... it may be a tad short on quality but I think it's sufficient to persuade the manager to defer any changes to January and he's possibly right, given the priorities elsewhere.
Clubs will say "what if moving an injured played aggravates his injury - who will be liable?"
You'd waste even more time securing the player to a stretchers or similar.
I think most new signings will become starters due course but I think it makes sense to get there in stages. I'm just a bit staggered that we're fielding the same defensive quartet as last season.
