  1. I think at the core of this deranged frustration is an inability to accept anything but "winning" night and day, all the time, year after year. I get the feeling there is a section of our support who are only here to celebrate winning and have no interest in anything else, certainly not the process of rebuilding a club that was brutalised by all and sundry. There's absolutely no patience and no question of forgiving the mistakes of honest men. I see admirable qualities in those who shoulder the burden of rebuilding Rangers and despite occasionally disagreeing with some decisions, I'm profoundly grateful for what they do. Perhaps we should be reflecting more often on where we could have been without them. Instead of endlessly carping, perhaps the likes of Union Bears and Club1872 might like to make a statement of thanks to our shareholders and directors for what they've done of our club - because at the moment these groups are coming across as shallow ingrates.
  2. That says it for me. It seems memories are fickle and short.
  3. These things depend entirely on finding the right person of course, because the risks are huge, but I don't think our main board is lacking much apart from perhaps an executive chairman (or a strategic CEO) and two or three non-execs who can bring fresh ideas, experience and great networks..
  4. There are a lot of headless chickens on social media again, calling for change at Rangers. They demand success on the park but howl about the perilous state of our finances, presumably because they think our directors are deliberately refusing to shake the Ibrox money tree. What is it they want the board to do, print money?
  5. I'm all for change if you can guarantee it will be for the better. Just not the same day our chairman stands down.
  6. I don't think this is a day to be speculating about the future of other directors. What we should be doing today is offering thanks to Douglas Park for being there when the club desperately needed the stabilising hand of a solid Rangers man. I hope his name will always be associated with the return of Rangers from the hands of parasites to a club on the verge of recovery ... and to wish John Bennett every success going forward. Talk of "time of change" seems inappropriate today.
  7. That very much depends on the reach of Rangers' grasp, which hasn't been very impressive of late. This weekend will tell us if we're in danger of overtaking anyone.
  8. What was the price please?
  9. We could do worse than start by appointing a new captain who can lift and inspire his team when the chips are down.
  10. That'll do for me too.
  11. They may not be great shakes in Europe but they're better shakes than us right now. I'll change my mind when we start beating them but at the moment we look terrified when we take the field against them. Basically, we're still nowhere nearly good enough and any real hope of success lies in the summer transfer window. Of course, it would help if the manager stopped making absurd team selections like in the LC final.
  12. Turns out he's probably our best defender.
  13. These days, players who have 500 games under their belt for a club like Rangers shouldn't need the money and really need to be giving a big slab of it to the FP benevolent fund or similar ex-player charities.
  14. The performance was OK but not great - I've seen worse from title winning Rangers teams. Kent wasn't nearly as bad as some (OK, just the usual suspects) are saying. Anyway, Beale has improved this team by miles but there has to be a limit to what can be achieved without a significant number of better players. Maybe we're just at that limit now and no amount of hysterical fan reaction is going to change that. Another three points, another clean sheet, a 500 game goalie and on we go.
  15. Lundstram repeatedly caught in possession, otherwise a largely untroubled first half, well almost. We could do with another forward or attacking midfielder on board - Arfield or Wright maybe but probably Sakala and Colak for Lundstram and Morelos.
  16. Looking forward to seeing today's team selection. Will there be a surprise or two? Could Scott Wright and Scott Arfield get rare starts? Yilmaz instead of Barisic?
  17. It's definitely legitimate. It's just also definitely poorly timed and clearly unhelpful. But, as you so effectively demonstrate, everyone is entitled to an opinion, however misguided. 😂😉 What would be of far more help to the entire Rangers family right now is to put an item of heavy outdoor footwear through that bloody drum of theirs.
  18. Correct. Put this Time For Change muppetry back in the cupboard until we see the playing squad at the end of the next transfer window. Right now, we can do without this negativity.
  19. Keeping the pressure on. Excellent. Finally, our board seems to be digging its heels in with regards to the SFA mafia.
  20. Is it a condition of our league membership that we have a minimum youth operation? Why else would we spend money and time on something that we must know will almost never contribute to first team success? The hard evidence suggests all we do is bring players in to develop and release for the benefit of other clubs.
  21. I wish him the very best during his time with us but sometimes I wonder, what's the point? He'll almost certainly never play for the first team and the chances of making a penny in return for what he'll cost us over the two years is negligible. Too cynical?
  22. Yet Rangers can beat Dortmund in a match that actually matters, while Scotland lose home and away to Wales in WC qualifiers. Which shows you can make a case for anything if you chose carefully. Better to stick to the big picture ... club sides from big leagues have more money to attract the best players from all countries and win most club tournaments .... and countries that have most players playing club football in the big leagues win almost all international tournaments. Sure, there are occasional exceptions but the broad picture is that club and international success march in step to the same tune. What's to get excited about?
  23. I definitely wouldn't play Lundstram and Jack together, especially at home, it almost never works. I'd play Arfield and Cantwell in midfield alongside Jack in a holding role. Up front I'd play Kent and Tillman either side of Colak.
