Confirmed: Ross Wilson joins Nottingham Forest

That's all it will ever be ... hope. The next DoF will likely face the same challenges in terms of financial pressures, management changes, player disappointment, etc. (who knew Tamundo would suddenly turn into a deer in the headlights?). Wilson came to us with a decent reputation and got a fair bit of praise along the way for some of his achievements. We'll probably never know why some of our signings and squad management went so wrong but I doubt it's all down to Wilson alone. Whoever we appoint in his place will inevitably be a genius if we win the title and a useless clown if we don't. -

It's one thing to criticise a man while he's still in the job but I can't see the point of gloating after he leaves. Surely the right thing to do is politely to thank him for his service to Rangers and move on. -

Interesting question. If that is the case then perhaps the appointment of a new chairman might herald more changes than first thought. -

While it might be possible to tighten the job description, I think it would be a massive mistake not to have a director of football going forward. The role is now ubiquitous in big clubs and for very good reason. -

It might be significant for Forest but the whole thing is utterly meaningless for us until we see who replaces Wilson and have a chance to see how that person performs, which might be possible a year from now at the earliest. Hardly something to get excited about. The easy bit is calling for change. The hard part is achieving change for the better. -

If he's Technical Director then presumably not at all -
There's a rumour going round that McCoist has been rehabilitated after his managerial extravaganza. Personally, I have my doubts.

It's also just possible that Wilson's job was made all but impossible by a succession of managers who made confused and conflicting statements of requirements to the DoF. The assumption seems to be that our managers have been clear and correct, while our DoF has been inept and ineffectual .... but there's very little evidence I can see to support this. -
Waiting patiently for Rangers to ridicule King's latest nonsense.

Keeping the status quo would be ridiculous. -

Hands up anyone who can guarantee the next DoF will be significantly better. -
Should we cancel the next transfer window then? 😂

While the corner hasn't yet been turned, it was perhaps the first sign that with a bit more quality on board we could start looking for the indicator.
-
Surely not the exact same players and anyway players are not constant commodities - there was a time when Kamara was sublime and Kent scored goals and Morelos was unplayable.
-
The main issue was Nick Walsh in the VAR studio .... he's the one who ruled out Morelos' goal.

Not with our squad there aren't

You can have the best centre backs in the world but that won't cover for a missing fullback or stop a cross into our goal mouth. Perhaps the most characteristic weakness is continually conceding at the back post - how many times have you seen us lose a goal to an unmarked attacker meeting a deep cross and our fullback isn't even in the picture? By all means get forward but if you're not there when there's defending to be done then you're not a defender. It may be simplistic but it seems obvious to me.
-
The old adage seems to apply - get your defence solid, then build forward from there. We haven't had a solid defence in a long time.
-
Davie Robertson is a good example of what we need at fullback instead of the current lightweights.
-
We had ample opportunity to give Shankland a chance for a fraction of his current value but apparently he was deemed to be “not Rangers class”.
-
Fairly embarrassing effort from the club. You don’t insinuate in Scottish football, you come right out in the media and say the referee cheated and anyone in the SFA or SPFL who disagrees is also a cheat. You then make a song and dance about the need for foreign refs.
-
I wasn’t looking for an actual number 😂 It was just tongue in cheek. He’s a great goal scorer but a bit of an imposter as a defender. Much like our other fullback really and we seriously need to fix our defence.

Certainly not all ... but ... certainly not none. So how many?
